Have had 3 of these since I was first diagnosed in 1998...after my bride told me I repeatedly stopped breathing at night. Been on CPAP therapy since then. My apnea diagnosis and CPAP therapy saved my life. No more falling asleep during the day! No more drowsy driving!
They didn't tell me what to bring next week to the hospital and I have my own neck pillow and I am sure that I feel that they aren't as nice as in this video. I get a call saying date and time. Mine is probably the antidepressants, worry, migraines. My mind don't stop thinking. I also have ptsd and I don't even want to leave my house.
Hi, Susie! Typically, you'll want to bring your own pillow, loose-fitting pajamas, personal hygiene products and any prescription medication to your sleep study appointment. Hope that helps!
I have horrible anxiety and the camera was the most unnerving part. But they were fine with me wearing an eye mask at my first study. It seems to be more to see if you're restless, moving, what you were doing while falling asleep and waving them down if you have to pee so they can come in and unhook you.
At anytime if you stop breathing would they then give oxygen? Lets said you failed the test and they can tell your dying would you still have to wait the Doc to go over the results in a week? If its that dangerous would they make you wait to get the Cpap?
So I am planning on scheduling a sleep study. The two questions I have are the following. One I am Muslim therefore I need to do my five daily prayers and my last prayer is right before I'm about to get ready and go to sleep. Will I have time and will I be allowed to fulfill that religious obligation that I do have because skipping prayer unless you're really sick is a big no in Islam. The second thing I do take breathing treatments and I do get hooked up to a feeding pump at night do sleep Labs have nurses to help with that because since I cannot see well and obviously since my caregiver will not be there I will need someone to help me get hooked up to my feeding pump and help with my breathing treatment. And my sleep study is going to consist of a nighttime and a daytime sleep study and I get feedings during the day as well so I will need a nurse to give me my feeding. Again my two questions are one will I be able to fulfill my religious obligation at night the second question is will there be a nurse to help me out with my feedings and breathing treatment
I wonder if this study would even benefit me then, my problem is *falling* asleep, by the time I'd actually fall asleep it would be time for them to wake me up. Hmmm 🤔 I only sleep about two to three hours a night anyways 🤷🏽♀️
See this is why I’m not sure I want to do another, even though my neurologist (new one) wants me to try again. Falling asleep has always been the issue, I was up all night until they came to wake me up, it was pointless
Thanks for your question! Just because you snore doesn’t mean you automatically won't pass the test. Around 50% of people who snore may have OSA (Obstructive Sleep Apnea). OSA almost always causes snoring, but snoring doesn't mean you have OSA. Hope that helps!

My Sleep Lab (not a Summa) was more like a two-star hotel. However, it had what I needed, so no complaints.

I was unaware they actually watch you with a camera too. My severe anxiety said no

My nephew said he had one and they gave him a pill. He said the same thing I did "mind don't stop thinking, worries. "
Is there any need to take any pills or injections for polysomnography/sleep study? Any side effects? Thanks
