This is how I approached my van, find what I like and figure out a way to build it myself or buy similar parts cheaper. I often get really nice comments at shows and people can't believe how little I've spent in total. It's certainly not a show van, just built for practicality and family use.
All you need. Keep it simple. Stayed in a 72 dormobile many nights slept 4, No electric no heater no problem ! Manual foot pump for water and brilliant pop top. For me I'd do simple conversion simple with insulation and power bank with electric hook up but with no hardwired DC electrics. Maybe sink and cooker pod but that's all, no coffeemaker or air fryer etc just space. Great review
Thank you. Sounds great. I was looking at one in a car park today (Bay window camper) and would like one in the future. Some like all the creature comforts, others just the basics. All about choices 👍🏼
Hi there really good video of some of the things you can do to keep the prices down. I would really enjoy meeting you some time for about a discution of what i have done too my van a full conversion on a VW T5.1 for £15750 but did not install a poptop. Cheers Alan Pridmore.
Another great video. Excellent. Quick question. I took your lead from another video and signed up to Britstops. That was a few weeks ago. Thought I’d have got the Books you exampled. Nothing so far and no links to apps other than suggestions to join up - which obviously I’ve already done. Haven’t got this wrong? Left something out maybe? Any thoughts? Cheers. Moss.
I was looking at this cooler with the Bluetii power station with removable batteries is It any good? I see anker have one and are giving them away free with the f2000 power station
Great video. I believe that when money is tight and you have a tight budget, that's when you can be the most creative. Regarding getting the bed tested or seats tested, I've installed Ford torneo seats in mine (I got creative on a tight budget 😁). Where do you go to get them tested? I asked a local garage, and they said, "For the mot, just take them out if you want." But regards insurance and selling the van on, how do you go about it? Thanks, and keep up the good work.
Thank you. The bed testing is not an easy thing to do as there are so many factors too it. Without a paper trail of the exact bed, fitting kit, bolts etc nobody would know what’s fitted. For example are the bolts a high quality product or bought off a cheap website and wouldn’t stand any force. The MOT aspect of testing a bed is far more straightforward than testing if it’s safe in an accident.
Just found this channel. This is the third video so far. A lot of the information is great, but if you don't know what to buy and how to fit it or modify it, it's like listening to a bunch of gas fitters telling their stories about jobs they've done on different properties 🙂 Seems a bit of a closed community in some ways. Great content though.
Thanks (i think 🤣) I know how to fit it, how to modify it and what to buy. A few reasons I don’t show how to’s, there are people more qualified than me who have channels showing how. What to buy, I do show to an extent, but also mindful of everyone having different budgets. There are some van reviews coming up soon, new and used with varying specs.
@@StaycationLifestyle thanks. Now you've mentioned it "how to" wasn't something I was looking for as I don't have the tools/facilities to give anything a go. The content you're providing is great, as it is talking through the "what" and the "why" for the whole van experience. Just what I was after.
a van of that spec is £10k so the fact he got it for £5k is a unicorn & basically like winning the lottery- it's dishonest to use this as an example that "vanlife is cheap".
@@Fina-x5n there are lots of stories of this and there are cheaper than this at local auctions. There are also other brands which are cheaper. Secondly, it’s about the fact you dont need a full conversion to enjoy the lifestyle and you can do it on a budget
@@StaycationLifestyle none of that changes the fact that if you look on any used van website like autotrader, all of them are still £10k- the fact that a tiny minority are lucky enough to find a unicorn at £5k doesn't mean everyone can- for most, if they wait to find a unicorn, they could be waiting a lifetime before you can even start vanlife.
Autotrader isn’t the place to buy lower value vehicles. Look at auctions, eBay, Facebook etc. Just looked on eBay and there are loads (admittedly you need to be careful for scams)

Britstops is now app and website only. They no longer produce the book. Caused a stir when that was announced
Bit disappointing. Got the app sorted so thanks for your help. Moss.
