Lutheran Metropolitan Ministry in Cleveland does an amazing job of supporting the unsheltered community in Cleveland. The are run by progressive Lutherans, but don’t push religion on their residents. They do everything they can to lower barriers to people getting shelter. Largest shelter east of the Mississippi. They do a great job.
"Used needles found by a business near Sunrise" Does that mean they were next to a business (all gathered up in a pile like that, with no other litter in the frame), or does it mean a business found them (then staged them for a photo)? What is that surface they're on? It looks like someone has piled them up on the hood of a car in an outdoor location where you can see trees reflected on smooth painted metal. I note that the language used here doesn't seem to establish a clear connection between these particular needles and the activities at the center--it simply states one thing, then another, and expects the reader to make the connection. That's the same thing going on with a lot of the other language in the complaint demonizing homeless people, at least as conveyed here. By the way, it should be no surprise that a Christian is persecuting other Christians. Several of the original colonies were founded by Christians fleeing persecution... from other Christians.
Hmmm ... several of your colonies were founded by Christians fleeing other Christians _because the other Christians_ were 'too lax' and wouldn't allow the Christians who fled to persecute others in their neighbourhood as much as they wanted!
St. Paul (aka Saul of Tarsus) was a prosecutor of Christians in the Roman courts before he realized that some Christians were rich and he could grift the church and get the tithe money for himself, and that's when he suddenly became a Christian and took over an entire sect of Christianity.
A small percentage of the population is selfless, putting other's before their self. Most are not. In general, people only get together in cooperation under extreme circumstances and only to those under the same circumstances and only if they believe the other is ready to return the favor.
I'd say that this is classic survival of the fittest propaganda here, even if the drugs weren't a thing. You see, some of these people, like this Ken Paxton guy, they don't want to see any help going to the homeless.
I worked on getting a newly relocating church a "Special Use Permit/S.U.P." that all churches or schools need in my area. The church listed (in the scope of use), they also hand out cheese sandwiches to those who ask for food. After the public advisory planning hearing of angry neighbors, that issue was enough to get the project voted 0-5 for disapproval. The church withdrew the project.

Why do the people who shout "I'm a Christian ' the loudest always do the opposite of what Christ said?
There are very good Christians ✝️ too . I've known bad ones and good ones. 👍 Some of them are hiding behind their mask of deception and hypocrisy . Jesus spoke of these types in the Bible and told us to be aware of wolves in sheep's clothing .
@@bellabookitty9014 It's easy to be a good christian these days, just ask yourself "What would Trump do?" and do the exact opposite. He's the perfect antithesis of everything Christ taught us, in every single way.
He's the seven deadly sins all wrapped up in one great big blob of greed, spite, gluttony and lust. And he now represents all of us to the rest of the world.
@DeadCat-42 Because it's a thousand times easier to SAY you are a good person rather than proving it with actions.
As a fellow Athiest, I truly appreciate you as someone who advocates for rights regardless of belief.
Keep true to that friendly atheist name ❤
Needle exchanges working makes these people hate them more. Reducing harm to homeless people is a bad thing to them.
Yup. I think the followingdefinitely applies to Ken Paxton, the fake Christian:
“I envy thee not thy faith, which is ever in thy mouth, but never in thy heart nor in thy practice.”
-Sir Walter Scott, Rebecca (Ivanhoe)
AKA: These "Christians" like Ken Paxton profess their faith, but literally speak and live hatred, bigotry, and cruelty toward others. Oh, and lies. They especially enjoy speaking lies.
"What you have done to the lesser of my brothers and sisters you have done unto me" these guys exemplify the reason I'm Christian. The only time i like organized religion. Doing the Lords work
I love that verse .
I live in Texas and I am ashamed of Paxton and Abbott
Me too.
@mikescrazycomedy7362 Then why does he get elected? Are the Democrat hopefuls not seen as tough enough on crime?
How is criminal Paxton still in office??
These types of people are completely exhausting
I was opposed to needle hand out programs, until I heard this.
Protecting the drug user gives them the opportunity to hopefully quit one day and sort their lives out.
As opposed to being dead.
Yup. And this church provides safe disposal of the used needles, so they don't end up in public bathrooms or playgrounds, etc.
Satan would say "if I were real, you'd be my role model, Ken"
Sorry junkies don't put the caps back on the needles, those are from a health clinic.
Don't guns threaten the health and safety of children in school? Don't do anything about that but remove background checks so it's easier to get guns.
Paxton doesn't seem to exhibit much capacity for empathy, or even an understanding of why it's important.
Churches who do real charity and support should be allowed. The ones who spew illegal hate should not.
I do not know any real Christians who spew illegal hate .
And BTW what happened to "pray it away"? Is he admitting that christians can't work through their god to heal them? Bosh!
A small percentage of the population is selfless, putting other's before their self. Most are not. In general, people only get together in cooperation under extreme circumstances and only to those under the same circumstances and only if they believe the other is ready to return the favor.
imagine unironically doing friendly fire because people give a damn about their own community
Ummm, those look like Insulin syringes.
I'd say that this is classic survival of the fittest propaganda here, even if the drugs weren't a thing. You see, some of these people, like this Ken Paxton guy, they don't want to see any help going to the homeless.
Vote Red? FAFO
Just another good Christian showing us their true selves.
And yes, Sunshine Ministry are the ONLY heroes coming out of TX.
He’s hideously mean and horrid
"Hey! I got a free needle! I had no interest in doing drugs before but now that I got this shiny new needle - it's on!!!!"
Right! Harm reduction makes addiction look fun!
That's not how it goes. You better hope you never need help.
@@al-yashailhaamwilliams8969maybe to you!
@kerishannon I’m pretty sure OP was being sarcastic.
As someone into DIY stuff, this makes me want to craft something out of those needles now
Hypocrite is not a strong enough word for this guy
Here is another thought. NEVER give any religious organization any tax payer money. NEVER. Remove ALL tax exemptions for religious groups.
Are you ready to fill in the huge gaps in social services this would leave?
Like what?@@kjmav10135
I worked on getting a newly relocating church a "Special Use Permit/S.U.P." that all churches or schools need in my area. The church listed (in the scope of use), they also hand out cheese sandwiches to those who ask for food. After the public advisory planning hearing of angry neighbors, that issue was enough to get the project voted 0-5 for disapproval. The church withdrew the project.
Good old Christian love. I should thank them. I didn't have to get into a bidding war for my house cause a halfway house is 2 doors down. I've only ever seen 1 person outside practicing dance moves. He was a very good dancer.
Still wasn't cheap though😂
Paxton should be serving time in prison, not serving in the state government in Texas. He has been under indictment almost a decade, on hold waiting for him to be out of office.
Giving them clean needles doesn't just prevent diseases, it also prevents crime. Because these drug users will commit crimes to obtain the drugs.
Can’t have any churches actually doing what they were supposed to be doing this whole time to be tax exempt.
That might put scrutiny on the other churches that don’t do charity work to earn their tax-exemption status
That certainly is a better use of the "religious freedom" argument than for hating on people!
I doubt it will work. They didn't make those laws to improve people's lives or increase freedom.
Whoa, that's some demon seed level shit to do against any group, religious or otherwise. I mean, like, WTF?
Only Ken Paxton deserves second chances.
Does it occur to them that homeless people might use it for meds too. Believe it or not homeless people can be sick too.
He should be in prison.
The authorities should put the people in support and recovery instead of entities being forced to tentative aid.
Ask yourself: Who would Jesus sue?
Re: The syringe photo. If you have time to search, I’m betting that’s a PD photo from somewhere. I haven’t found it yet.
Texas says, “Don’t feed the animals.”
I am surprised that Paxton hasn't already edited the New Testament to make it align with Project 25.
Helping annoying people? The nerve!
I got an idea, how about we talk with one another, identify the problems, and mitigate the dangers, instead of running to the courts?
Of course he did. That's all they know how to do
Syringe exchanges also actually reduce the amount of syringes on the street.
I think it’s super gay that we say unhoused instead of homeless
Did't Jesus the Christ state " Turn the other cheek"?
But the real question is, what did Trump state?
I just talked to a man who volunteers there and he said they are rhe only place homeless people can come take showers in all of Austin. I have seen the cruelry and abuse by police mainly to the homeless in the last 3 years. They are harrassed, moved around by " authorities " and abused by other homeless people with no recourse. People living in cars get harassed, stalked , illegally searched by police who should have better things to do. They never help but just make things worse !
Good old Christian Love!
So forgive the privileged pastors, politicians and child ministry people who do ~~ but not a homeless person who has genuine mental health issues for being difficult?
I'm supposed to think the people with that type of attitude are the "good" ones, worthy of my esteem and should be elevated to positions of power?
😏I don't think so.
Paxton is a freak.
Don't be nice to him. I'm sure Ken Paxton is as vanilla as Ben Shapiro in the sheets.
I bet he thinks moisture in his wife is "unnatural". Lol.
I'm a recovering addict, and I believe in harm reduction, but a needle exchange, where they have to bring back the dirty ones would be the way to go. If they're just handing them out to everyone, especially near a school, that could be bad.
Love ur videos, keep it up!
You know what would actually be good, but is almost certainly illegal? Safe injection sites.
YES
That makes sense. Have a safe depository for them. Congrats on your recovery from a recovering alcoholic.
This organization does have safe disposal ie cannot get a new needle or syringe unless turning the used one in.
@@CricketsBay Thanks for that info. Then there is nothing more they can do about it. "Their" needles are all accounted for and disposed of safely. No reason to reasonably criticize this program. It's making things safer.
I hate Ken Paxton
Oh, man I’m loving your cope….maga for you baby!
These "Christians" are going to get all tangled up in their contradictions.
Paxton's lawsuit brief sounds like he is ready to find a final solution for these homeless.
Needle exchange programs are nothing new
I'm a recovering alcoholic and companies had strict guidelines to protect their customers from illness. Paxton probably has substance problems. Give them the clean stuff.
You know we understand they want to play these games. If they really feel like this, they need to stop hiding and let’s duke it out.
To quote Adam Serwer from 6 years ago (and for what seems like the millionth time):
The cruelty is the point.
By the way..when ever (!) has a state official given enough credit to ONE NEIGHBORHOOD to change laws in its SINGULAR FAVOR??!!!??
