@Miss. Kimberly Gray you should listen to "Adored" by her. Also "All Kinds of Wrong". Both show that Miranda had potential but I guess we'll never know how good both Miranda and Victoria would have been if they had continued their music careers......
Victoria's a highly underrated artist. She sings this song really well and she even wrote it too! This song should be much bigger, even today. I think it's the perfect 4th of July song for all of America

This song is inspirational. I feel that it is not just saying that people try to make it in America to be famous, but to make their dream in America. Any career choice set by an individual is a dream to hold strong to and be a steadfast road to travel down. :)
the fact that she wrote this song herself makes this even more amazing. i listened to this song everyday whilst going through depression i love her so much
Funny story, heard this song on TV for the first time the night before I started my freshman year in HS. Just had my last day as a Senior yesterday.. :(
+Jake Cato I was too at first! Have fun senior year, I loved it, and I'm starting college in 2 months. I had a great senior year and I would do it all over again. It's scary at first but it's a great experience to graduate and be apart of the end of your high school years!
Got a one ticket down a two-way street Got the wind in my hair and there's dust on my feet I'm just trying to make it in America Only thing to my name is in old t-shirt Faded 1985 from the Stones concert And I'm dying to make it in America And I'm singing the words to my favorite song With the rag top down and my glasses on And I'm driving straight through America I wanna taste the sun Cause baby I'm born to run I gotta feeling that I'm not the only one And I, I wanna show some skin Yeah, baby I need the ocean And you can't stop me now I've got my heart in motion And I wanna make it in America Make it in America I can see my stars sunset and vine Gonna carve my name in the Hollywood sign Yeah, I gotta, gotta make it in America See me wearing a smile even if I'm broke I'll be singing the words from a song I wrote And I called it make it in America I wanna taste the sun Cause baby I'm born to run I gotta feeling that I'm not the only one And I, I wanna show some skin Yeah, baby I need the ocean And you can't stop me now I've got my heart in motion And I wanna make it in America Make it in America I can feel the sweat dripping down my face I can hear my heart as it starts to race And sometimes it's worth such a lonely place If a just push on I know that I wanna taste the sun 'Cause baby I'm born to run I gotta feeling that I'm not the only one And I, I wanna show some skin Yeah, baby I need the ocean And you can't stop me now I've got my heart in motion And I wanna make it in America Make it in America
2024 and still listening to this song, you know why? Cause Victoria Justice has a special way to sing, you can feel emotion and nostalgia, and I love it
Guys im 24 years old, my parents both recently deceased early, dad from stage 4 lung cancer, mom died of a stroke, im an only child, i quit college, but want to go back cause i dont wanna work at dollar general anymore, and i live with my boyfriend who is my savior, let me tell you, being an adult especially if you dont have your parents support both emotionally and financially, its hard, its really really hard, i heard this song when i was still a teenager but im an adult now and the real world is hard AND expensive!!! This song speaks the truth, go for your dreams and make something of yourself, take those risks, do good in school, get a good education and dont take anything for granted
I live in France, I'm not from America and i never been there, is it beautiful there? I hope it is!:) I listen to this song all the time even though it has nothing to do with my country. But great song!
Well, it is very spacious, and the people here are quite cheerful. You could just about walk up to anyone and start up a conversation. I'm kinda sick of people pointing out the flaws in America. Y'all realise every country has its weaknesses, right? So why does everyone only focus on America's qeaknesses for crying out loud. Idk, it just gets depressing and irritating hearing everyone diss on this country. But hey, it is a huge melting pot of all different cultures, that's always a plus. Here (at least where I live and from my personal experiences) no one really cares where you come from, what you believe, your gender, your sexuality, your race, ethnicity, skin color, weight, ect. No one gives a damn, as long as you're a decent, respectful person, you'll fit right in, cuz there's a heck ton of diversity everywhere, but despite all our differences, we're all united as one, ya know? Tbh the landscapes here are beautiful. My family loves travelling and roadtrips. America's got all the climates and stuff too, from tropical heat(florida, Hawaii, California ect.) to deserts (Texas, Arizona ect.) to mountains(Appalachians, Rockies), to snowy, cold places (Alaska, Maine, ect.), to the huge grass plains and corn fields in the Midwest(where I live). Now, I've grown up in America and visited my family in the Philippines for a month every few years, so....... I'm in no place to compare America to European countries because I've never been to Europe, only Canada, and various parts of Asia(I was born in the Philippines). But, what I can say is... Yes. the USA has flaws. But as a person whos mother grew up in poverty(starving every day, very very poor, grew up without parents because mother was in Saudi Arabia working to send money to her and her siblings while her dad left to another island, cement + bamboo house, ect.) America is a beautiful place that quite a few of my fellow Americans take for granted. Everyone's complaining about everything in America now. It irritates me because everyone takes for granted the simple benefits and amenities that developed countries like the USA give that poverty stricken areas of the world, like the place I would have grown up in if my dad didn't bring us to the US, lack. Idk. Just. America is great, tbh. Just ignore the political stuff because honestly not even us Americans understand what the hell is happening with our government anymore.... And... Yeah. I'm really sorry, this comment was supposed to be short but it ended up turning into a long rant 😂 😂 My bad
This song will always be one of my favourites despite me being 18 years old....it really gives me high hopes of making my dream to come true and travel in America! Who is listening in 2019???
"I can see my stars, sunset and vine, Gonna carve my name in the holliwood sign" This may sound like a reach, but the way i interpret it is.. "I can see my stars" meaning i can see that my time has come or u may say my stars are aligned "Stars- sunset - vine street - Hollywood" saying that she can imagine her own star on holliwood walk of fame And there's also a little relation btwn stars and sunset, you can add "wine" to this relaxing imagery if u want... Very powerful song.
Hey Victoria i'dont know if you will read this comment but...thank you for everything, your songs made me so happy and also the girl who dream to be what she want. I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU AND YOU WILL BE IN MY HEART FOREVER
I remember that I used to listen to this song literally every single day... By the time, I was in my 2nd year in the states, started musical theatre training. It was not easy especially for a foreigner like me so this was my fight song... Oh I remember it well.
Okay, if she went in a concert in 1985 that's 31 years before, now say she was 16 years old when she saw the stones, 31 plus 16 equals 47 years old...wow Victoria, you're still looking good! :P

Victoria is extremely good at making songs that will hit your emotions. Whatever the intention, that is exactly what you feel.

Got a one ticket down a two-way street
Got the wind in my hair and there's dust on my feet
I'm just trying to make it in America
Only thing to my name is in old t-shirt
Faded 1985 from the Stones concert
And I'm dying to make it in America
And I'm singing the words to my favorite song
With the rag top down and my glasses on
And I'm driving straight through America
I wanna taste the sun
Cause baby I'm born to run
I gotta feeling that I'm not the only one
And I, I wanna show some skin
Yeah, baby I need the ocean
And you can't stop me now I've got my heart in motion
And I wanna make it in America
Make it in America
I can see my stars sunset and vine
Gonna carve my name in the Hollywood sign
Yeah, I gotta, gotta make it in America
See me wearing a smile even if I'm broke
I'll be singing the words from a song I wrote
And I called it make it in America
I wanna taste the sun
Cause baby I'm born to run
I gotta feeling that I'm not the only one
And I, I wanna show some skin
Yeah, baby I need the ocean
And you can't stop me now I've got my heart in motion
And I wanna make it in America
Make it in America
I can feel the sweat dripping down my face
I can hear my heart as it starts to race
And sometimes it's worth such a lonely place
If a just push on I know that
I wanna taste the sun
'Cause baby I'm born to run
I gotta feeling that I'm not the only one
And I, I wanna show some skin
Yeah, baby I need the ocean
And you can't stop me now I've got my heart in motion
And I wanna make it in America
Make it in America
This is a lyric video-
You wasted a minute
And sometimes this world's such a lonely place
"i wanna taste the sun cause baby i'm born to run"
