  • Atari was one of the hottest video game manufacturers at the beginning of the 1980's, selling nearly 12 million of their Atari VCS 2600. But by late 1982 there were obvious signs of an eminent crash. This is the story of how Atari fell from grace and what Modern card collectors could learn from the crash of the video game company.

    That supposed Atari ad featuring Stevie Wonder (12:30 mark) tripped me up. Had me looking up its veracity. Snopes says, "the Atari ad was merely a spoof using an altered version of a real print advertisement featuring Wonder endorsing the Mu-Tron III envelope filter made by Musitronics Corporation."
