- Weather can dramatically change the look and feel of a landscape photo, and learning to work with-and sometimes around-weather challenges is essential for landscape photographers. This video covers how to adapt to different weather conditions, from misty fog to heavy rain, and even snow. I discuss the best techniques and gear to use in challenging weather, along with tips for predicting and taking advantage of dynamic weather patterns. How can you photograph during a storm? What’s the best way to protect your gear in rainy conditions? Find the answers to these questions and more.
Thanks for watching, if it's your first time on the channel I would really appreciate a subscribe, it massively helps the channel, and of course a like and comment for good measure :-)

Useful review, Darren. One footnote on your suggestion of hanging your camera bag from your tripod to improve stability in heavy winds. Yes, that can help. But if the bag is hanging freely, and the wind is severe, the bag can act like a sail and so make matters worse. One solution is to leave the bag firmly on the ground, and connect it to your tripod with a taut bungee cable. Indeed, you can also use bungee cables to connect your tripod to other anchors, like rock ledges or tree roots. I found these approaches indispensable during my visits to Iceland, Malin Head and elsewhere, and now keep bungees in my camera bag “just in case”. Cheers
Great point Warrick ! Very valuable additional advice ! Thanks a lot , really appreciate that
Hi Darren, a great video, buddy! Maybe one additional tip to unpredictability: it helps a lot to consider different weather scenarios, built by different weather models, or read between the lines when using weather maps. That allows us always to be prepared for a plan B 😉
Thank you for the video and nice greetings,
Christian
Absolutely my friend ! Thanks for the additional tip
Different Monday morning video. Interesting as always.
Have a good week
Thanks! You too!
Great tips Darren. In my neck of the woods the biggest challenge is often heat. Essential to have sun cream, hat and plenty of water. Also try to protect the camera gear from over heating. This is true even for early morning and late evening in the summer
Great additions Ralph, the clouds are out suncream here :-) Thanks for watching
Brilliant Darren, very inspirational, I will embrace the weather more, and my new memo to self, "there is no such thing as bad weather for landscapes"
Thanks a lot , really appreciate that Kev, yeah get out there but we safe :-) Thanks for watching
Smashing video full of wonderful tips! It's always so great to see and hear other photographers mention being safe in dodgy condition or precarious positions!
I have been a fan of the 'weather and radar' app, very similar to windy 👍
Cheers man!
Glad you enjoyed it Pa! Enjoy your adventures
You have it down to the left hand pocket, oh to be so organized 😂 great job sound advice thank you.
Less to think about :-) Thank you very much Delighted you enjoyed it Thanks for watching
I went to Kinard this afternoon after our no name storm and got the best shots I've ever managed back there , embrace the weather 😁😁😁
Fantastic ! I was wondering how that location would be today 👏👏
It was beautiful darren I love the big waves great video
Glad you enjoyed it
Hi, do ever use a lens hood ?
Honestly only around 1% of shoots if I need to block the sun or if the rain is coming straight down which is rare here in Ireland :-)
Amazing video
Glad you think so! Thanks for watching
