The cruelty of Alzheimer’s is that big Jack showed such enthusiasm and love remembering his childhood. This horrible disease cruelly steals your memories 😢. RIP big man, you gave us all great memories.

My bro is living in NC for the last 8 years. Married a Geordie lass with 2 young boys. He met Jack and his wife about 2 years ago in a shopping centre and the first thing that comes out of the brother’s mouth was “Put em under pressure” with his thick cork accent. Big Jack smiled and got a beautiful photo with him and his 2 boys. A pure legend of a man who was loved by both English & Irish people alike. RIP Big Jack & thank you for the wonderful memories you gave to a nation 🇮🇪

Seen him in Tescos a few years ago with his wife. As I was passing I couldnt help but stare as he was wearing his glasses and cap, and I thought that's definitely him. Anyway I gave him a nod and wink, as I didn't want to bother him out shopping. I went to tell my wife discreetly (but probably blatantly obvious) , asking her not to look but Jack Charlton the legend is standing by the bread. 5 minutes later I turned round and he was laughing and joking with my wife and little twin daughters by the freezer section! haha.

Whoever is in the WC team that wins gets to tell everyone else boo hoo. Even Geoff Hurst was a replacement for another player. Denmark Euro 92 were replacements for a banned Yugoslavia.
