It's great to finally see one of these saws being used! Is there any plan to do a more in depth review like you had for the older model saws? Something covering blade speed, table height from the ground and the saws ability to tension a 1" carbide tipped blade would be great!
What is the benefit of having such a small fence compared to the giant cast iron table? I understand support really is only needed at the blade but still these seems like an odd place the skimp.
Hi Rhys, the benefiti is that if the tension in the board releases causing a spread of the wood, then the short fence is a nice advantage. That said, SCM have pre-tapped holes in the fence so a customer could add his own auxiliary fences, and one of those could be a longer fence, if they choose. Thank you!

Thank you! Yes, the fence on the S 440P is identical, so it will actually seem a little longer because the 440 table is a little smaller.
