6 Steps To Set Up GMail with a custom domain :

Step 1) Set Up a free gmail account : support.google.com/mail/answe...
Step 2) Buy a domain name anywhere you please. I use namecheap : www.namecheap.com/
Step 3) Purchase Hosting, I use bluehost in this example but any hosting that supports email will do. Contact your hosts customer support for any help needed connecting the domain, or with the next 3 steps : www.bluehost.com/
Step 4) Create a New Email Address on Bluehost
Step 5) Forward All Incoming Mail From The New Bluehost Email To Free Gmail Account From Step 1
Step 6) Send All Mail as New Bluehost Email by Setting Custom Domain as an Alias in GMail.

It says "free" in the title because it's assumed you already have a domain name + website + hosting company, so you don't have to pay anything on top of what you've already paid for those.

Question are you saying I can take my hostgator domain add it to a created email account through blue host, then transport that through my free Gmail account?

There is a catch , Gmail server will not be used for sending every email you will send through GMail with custom domain. Means if your webhosting mail server is black listed all your emails will end up in spam.
Considering GoDaddy uses microsoft 365 and an Outlook account, do you think this would be an issue for set up? I'm having problems.

So will this process allow me to send emails from my gmail account using my custom domain? So in effect the customer I email will see my domain email rather than my gmail?
I've followed this process step-by-step and I'm wondering where I've gone wrong. I have a domain and email set up with GoDaddy and I've followed the steps in the gmail settings where I add another email, yet it tells me that my username/password is wrong? Authentication failed.
The password I used is the one I use in the GoDaddy account, is that correct? If have also used the password for the gmail account but that produced the same result...
Has anyone found that this simply does not work for them? It's frankly doing my head in. I've also tried the SMTP route...anyone have any ideas?

this only works if your hoster offers email address which is not the case for quite a few...

I've haven't tried this myself, but everything seems logical so it should work.
I don't understand the dislikes.. maybe because this is a bit of a hassle.
I would pay 6$ for the official google workspace hosting but for some reason here in Germany I can only choose the 18$ pro version. FFS google..

Hey man please help I just made my email through outlook cause I bought the domain on godaddy... went through theese steps and when I try to make Alias Email it says " Couldn't reach server. Please double-check the server and port number."

I'm looking for a way to do this without paying for web hosting. Any thoughts? I have a few free web hosting accounts, but the only ones that offer email accounts do not have outgoing SMTP servers. I have a Gmail account and my own domain
Zoho mail. Although I believe they charge $1 per month to forward your email. So not entirely free. And at that point might be easier just to pay google $5/m.

Actually, found the answer to this in the "manage my business" option for my custom domain gmail address. Regardless this process was super helpful!

I lost access to my domain gmail couple years ago, that email is unfortunately on my business card, so I could be losing work. I didn't realize I wasn't getting email for the longest time. I use Format for my host website and got my domain from Namecheap. since gmail stopped doing free emails apparently, is there a way to get that mail back and see if old emails will pop up?

If you are speaking on Google suite workspace it isn't free its $12.99 a month and up I purchased my own domain thinking if I link them to a created Google suite my email account would be free
