To me the hardest character to save for first time playing is Jessica, Like one decision to take the safe route and she’s dead. My first playthru I didn’t save her or Josh
@@junkfilesnotworthy eh ig you could argue that. It’s not like we know exactly what they can think when they are wendigos, but you could also argue that Hannah doesn’t kill josh cuz he recognized her tattoo and she’s like oh I know you so part of her is still there? Idk seems like a ton of grey areas lol
I heard that Jess was originally supposed to die no matter what and that it was decided later into development that she should be save-able. (A commenter has informed me that it was always possible to save Jess so please disregard anything I say about Jess. This could explain why she is pushed to the side afterwards, only appearing later on in chapter 10. This is probably why the segment in the mines felt so rushed and short. It doesn’t really explain why Matt is constantly getting the short end of the stick. Matt also has an extra segment with Emily early in the game where they go to look for her bag but it’s only playable through pre-order DLC.
Heya, just wanted to correct something here. In beta development, everyone could die and survive, Jess included. People only came to this conclusion because the only footage we have of an old build showing the Mike & Jess pursuit is resulting in Jess' death because Mike wasn't fast enough. But she *is* in fact savable! :)
Hey there! Until Dawn is a game that I actually love to death. I did a lot of research about it; trailers, old alpha/beta footages, out of bounds & much more. About that "cut voice-changer clue" (at 2:49), I just wanted to correct something. If you manage to escape the psychopath with Sam during the pursuit scene, you will be able to check at the "killer's lair" which is a room that contains a lot of clues meant for the player to understand that Josh is behind everything. Something that less people actually see is that when you escape that room, there's a "hidden" clue (the 29th one in the "Mystery Man" section). And this clue is a recording of Josh trying some sentences as the psychopath. A lot of people think this is just a recorder, but in fact it is a voice-changer too! So my guess is that the one you showed in this was designed but not used in the final game state. After listening to that, Sam says "holy sh*t", which means that she understood that Josh is behind all that (and later on, she'll say to Josh: "we knew you were all after that, you were crying for help" in the reveal scene). So actually, Josh's reveal as the psycho WAS actually not meant to be a surprise! :) I actually really liked that video tho!
I'm so late to this, but I've watched so many UD videos since the game came out, and I finally got to play it for the first time last week. Anyways, I only missed one clue from thr mystery man, but I did discover all the ones Sam can get when she escapes, including the voice changer. She didn't say anything about knowing it was Josh, and I was so sad since I wanted to get that reaction! I'm not sure which clue I've missed that potentialy changed the whole scene, but I had to share this. And what surprised me, after probably watching any and all videos about this game that I got my hands on, I found a clue with Mike that I haven't seen anyone get. He breaks down a door and finds a corpse with a letter in sanitorium. That was so amazing!
@@Unicat9 Hey :) That's pretty weird since the cutscene where Josh reveals himself would change and Sam would say something like "your fingerprints were all over this, it was obviously you". And yeah that clue you're talking about is the letter from Jefferson Bragg, I really like that one since it really brings to the lore and mystery of the sanatorium! Here's a link to the line that Sam says if you can't find it somewhere: th-cam.com/video/mUXHE_haqeE/w-d-xo.html
@@zoox hey! Thanks for the reply, and the link! I have seen that cut-scene, and it was really rare, so I tried my best to keep Sam safe from the psycho and get it, but for some reason, she was as shocked as everyone else, even though I found those clues. Maybe it was a bug, or some other clue was missing, either way, I will be replaying, since I want to get everything eventually!
While a pregnancy story definitely would’ve been interesting it could also be deeply upsetting if that character gets injured and causes a miscarriage or if they were killed along with the baby.
4:10 about joshes illness…in the game as same is discovering the clues about Josh in one of the reports is said that he’s taking phenelzine and when you stop taking it the withdrawal effects are nausea, insomnia, nightmares, agitation, hallucinations, paranoia, aggressiveness, slurred speech, ataxia, catatonia, shocks and all the things you mentioned…so it wasn’t his illness but it was the withdrawal from the medication
For me the hardest characters to save are Jess and Matt, when you decide to go quick, she's dead and when you decide to go slow she's also dead. And Matt can also die when he agrees with Emily's plan about the radio tower cause then he'll fire the flare in the sky that will cause his death, aswell as not picking up the flare. That's why they both died in my first playtrough
@@epicalexfurry4377 they meant if he gets caught by the wendigo, if you don’t save emily Matt will guarantee survive until it’s his final part in the mines
I’ve been fascinated with this game so long that I didn’t know whether I could find new information. Im guessing they could only make the pregnancy storyline work if one of the girls had a secret relationship she was trying to hide, but I don’t think I could begin to guess which one. Probably not Jess but who knows? Maybe something for the rumored rewrite?
I have a theory about Hannah not succumbing to her wounds and the cold. On the night Beth and Hannah fall off the cliff, the stranger torches the Markipiler wen-d!g0. So the spirit would have been looking for a new host. Hannah, in her injured, helpless and weakened state would have been the perfect candidate. It's possible the Spirit kept her alive for the sake of tempting her to eat flesh and become a wen-d!g0
That's not true about the the animal choices impacting Matt's death. Shooting the squirrel or throwing the snowball at the bird does nothing regarding that. It's solely if Matt kills the elk with his axe that it can lead to his death and then he only dies if you fail the QTE's when he's falling down the cliff after doing that. Shooting the squirrel makes crows peck at Sam which then guarantees that she fails the chase sequence later on in the game with her because the Psycho/Josh sees her blood from the attack when she hides and he finds her. And throwing the snowball at the bird causes an icicle to fall onto Mike and Jess when they are being all lovey dovey in the snow. It never hits them though even if you miss the QTE. Also you said "at the end of the game, unless you find a particular clue as Sam, there's a credit scene that shows Josh as a wendigo". No, he turns into a Wendigo IF you find the clue as Sam. Not the other way around. Josh will die if Sam doesn't find the clue.
My guess would be that Sam would be the one who could have had the pregnancy storyline, as they do hint that she felt a connection to Josh since she wasn't part of the prank and was best friends with his sister.
Randomly comparing the game to Resident Evil due to the first person perspective is fairly odd considering RE is much more famous for fixed camera perspectives and even third person... FP is only in two games that aren't very well recieved by most fans and are fairly recent.

You can take at least one safe route just as long as you don't miss the QTE
Don't worry Josh dies no matter what
@@junkfilesnotworthy well he could’ve turned into a wendigo but I couldn’t find Hanna’s journal. Though maybe him dying was more humane lol

I think Matt being the hardest character to live is based off the "Black people die first in horror movies" joke
While a pregnancy story definitely would’ve been interesting it could also be deeply upsetting if that character gets injured and causes a miscarriage or if they were killed along with the baby.
that definitely would’ve been very disturbing and dark
So? Isn't that the whole point of the horror genre? Anyone remember the hills have eyes?
Upsetting? That be disturbing af
