It took me a few listens to understand what Jino was referring to. Jimin has subtle vocal variations and modulations whereas Taeyang just hits hard. Jimin evokes emotion; Taeyang exudes vocal strength.
Coming back to Vibe fresh from the outside world where they are counting the numbers of iTunes that the song has hit number one on, just want to say how proud I am of Park Jimin. Despite his relative youth he stands up to the biggest of the big from previous generations. He is hitting the beat precisely with his vocals, yet his vocals have soft edges that invite us in to participate and dance. His emotional intelligence with the lyrics, with his audience meaning us, and with his colleagues and peers, is on full display. He is utterly gorgeous visually in every single shot. OMG what will his solo work be like. ❤😭🐥😭❤
I really really like this song and collaboration! The song made me feel good and happy. I do like the melody and I think Jimin really shined. I love what his voice brought to the track. He sounds amazing! I'm so proud of him and happy for him that he worked with someone we all know he has really admired over the years.
I listened to it once and instantly when Jimin came on felt like he added so much more depth and dimension to the song with his tone and voice. His high and low intonation just make it so much better. Also felt the intro was so abrupt. I also really liked the duet part.
i feel Jimin gave life to the song. his voice was music in itself he does not need a melody when he sings. he is like MJ the voice is the melody so i think that was what made the difference
Agreeeed with you Jino. I couldn't quite put my finger on it, all I knew is it sounded more complete with Jimin. Taeyang has an awesome voice, but I felt I was seeing why BTS is BTS. I even agreed with you on Jimins little part where he goes softer. I'd like to see the more rounded fuller voice of jimin.
What you like and what you get lol, thankfully Jimin is going to sing how he wants and not how others want him to sing. Jimin killing with every range, harmony and tone.
When I first listened to the song, it felt like it brightened up a lot when Jimin's joined. I think a lot of people loved Jimin's bridge, so I'm guessing that it's a personal thing. I happen to like it, but I do prefer where he started and ended best. I think they work really well together. And when Jimin goes up higher toward the end, it lifts the music again. For me what I see is that Jimin's dance and emotional performances show up strongly in his parts and I think that has impact.
I heavily disagree with a lot of people in the comments. I enjoyed both Taeyang and Jimin in this song immensely, their vocals were amazing. So I don’t get why some people are saying that Jimin saved the song (though I too like Jimin’s voice more, as an army, his unique vocal tone really made the song shine even more and was the highlight of the song). And I loved the song instantly, I think this was a great comeback, it’s nice to hear Taeyang’s voice again after such a long time as a fan of bigbang, and of course Jimin was incredible too. They have such charisma as performers. All in all, the song is a vibe.
You don't understand because that is their opinion due to their likes/dislikes/preferrence. What's good to you isn't necessarily good to someone else. I, for one, didn't get wowed at all with this song... in my opinion, it's not a bad song, per se, but quite forgettable.

Nothing against T, he is doing his thing, good for him, but that doesn´t mean that the broader fan base would like it (outside of KPOP fans I mean, which there are millions in the ARMY) and also good for Jimin for working with his idol, I am happy he had this experience.

I’m new to Taeyang so my perspective is likely different from those that know him from Big Bang. I loved it. I loved Taeyang’s vibe (for lack of a better word) and I thought he gave a solid vocal. I see people saying they wanted more from Taeyang because it’s like his old stuff, but I don’t know any of his music so it was fresh *for me.* I think Jimin and Taeyang sounded great together. I appreciate getting to hear Jimin’s lower register and then classic falsetto in the bridge. All-in-all, I love the song. It’s just a feel good vibe and then you add in the dancing and I’m sold. Maybe I’m just easy. 🤷🏻♀️😩🤣

Taeyang has a strong voice. Jimin's voice is unique. He has grown so much. Jimin has always made it clear how much he respects Taeyang. This is great collaboration for them.
i thought i was being biased but honestly jimin fits the chorus of vibe more too. taeyang sings very well no doubt but here its like the melody and his voice in the first verse are all over the place its like putting eyes nose lips acapella over vibe's instrumental. while jimin can switch over to different tones depending on the beat which for me made the song flavorful. he can switch from low tone with rasp to soft and powerful and back to soft again he really flows well with the melody.
Oh yes. You explained it so well. I couldn't figure out what it was about the first and second halves of the song that made such a huge difference. Particularly, what was it that Jimin was doing that changed it. It was movement. Jimin added more movement around the beat. Kind of like a vocal-line version of how Hobi raps where his voice sort of dances around the beat. I think that's it! It was bugging me so much trying to figure out what he was doing that was making the difference.
I think it's because in Jimin part there's a lot of instrumentals which makes it sound more nice. Taeyang's starting part is just beat that's why it just his strong vocals. Also, I feel it helped Jimin because in songs when the starting verse is just vocals and 2nd verse is of someone else with lot of beats and instruments - it makes that part looks more good. Just imagine if Jimin started off that song with just beats and his vocal - oh god no, that would be disastrous.

Agreed. JIMIN has a UNIQUE VOCAL TONE THAT CANT BE TRAINED. His technique is guided by his chemistry, and that is yet something else you can’t train in anyone. The X factor. The VIBE. This isn’t my favourite genre from him. But his voice will always be one of the best in the world for me. I think the 2 seconds with RM in My Universe is what you are picking up about his voice. I get it. I hope he can find a producer and a song writer who can highlight and push more to the forefront those VOCAL QUALITIES that only Park Jimin has. These two highlights the difference between what I see as traditional kpop fans who prefer more uniformed qualities and newer generation fans who I think prefer more multidimensional vocals (maybe because most new kpop fans came from the international mainstream side of things). I won’t call myself a kpop fan at this point and I never understand what kpop fans were talking about when they talk about “good vocal”. No forms of art can be good by technique alone. I feel the same way. I didn't really know why I liked Jimins verse better, even if they are the same but I think it is because his higher, more lighter voice fits the strong and deep beat better. Taeyangs deeper, fuller voice just does not creat much contrast and it just feels bland whereas Jimins voice flows over the beat and brings out the melodie much more. Hope that makes sense :)

Jino you spoke 100% real with this song. Jimin made it make sense for me. When I heard the teaser I was still confused as to how the song was going to be and the first verse completely threw me off but jimins verse really pulled it together imo

Having been away for so long, Taeyang deserved a better song for his comeback but inviting Jimin on as featured artist was a smart move and I expect the song will perform better than it deserves. This song was a great song to come back with for Taeyang. I am army but i definitely think they both carried their parts amazingly . It was an amazing collab and both artist should be proud. Anyway this just my opinion i love the song and think more then not most are liking the song.

I think they are taking the opportunity to present Taeyang to a new public. Like, it may be the "same old Taeyang", but for a lot of people is something new. I didn't know him but liked his voice. And Jimin is amazing as always.

This is why I came here for, to check your honest reaction and review, and you are not wrong. I felt the same way, even after listening to it a few times. Jimin’s melodious voice, singing style, and ad libs can evoke emotions. It’s not that Taeyang’s voice is not good, but it’s just Jimin’s voice gives life and brings colors to the song.

After listening to it dozens of times since midnight ET, I really like this song. Having said that...from the first listen, I started out thinking "well, Taeyang is a good singer" but I wasn't blown away (and I have nothing against him - I know the history but think it belongs in the past, for the most part). When Jimin started, the song completely changed for me and I couldn't believe how much he changed the song for the better. I love this version of Jimin, but not more or less. I love hearing his lower register and using the falsetto for accents/adlibs and punch.

25:52 but Jimin is really great on this kind of thing, kind of like Home and some other song/s I can't think of now where it's almost more like rapping. He is great at making it very dynamic, using different textures, riding the beat and different vocal tones in a very smooth way. Him shifting between a more textured lower tone to a sweet higher tone, back to a lower but warm tone etc + that creaky effect and cries etc that he does just makes it very dynamic + he is masterful with emoting with his voice. I do think you are a bit harsh tho on Taeyang's part and the song but that's just your taste however I do get why you are feeling Jimin's part. I like the song and think they complement each other. And I have thought you are a bit square in how songs should be before and often totally disagree so I expected you wouldn't like the song or any of their vocals so you came out better than expected. And I love Jimin's voice on the bridge, it's very much his voice when he sings natural and it sounds angelic.
yes Home is Jimin's song bc of his tone. just the way Butterfly is JK's because of his tone. Jimin uses a lot of effects, fry, growls, he's very artful in his vocal delivery
i really like the song and have found myself humming it throughout the day. to me it has a 90s groove to it. ive been an army for a long long time, but i was a fan of big bang and taeyang even longer. im proud of jimin for this performance. standing toe to toe with his personal idol. they both did a great job and i think ill be listening to this a lot

Before I dive into your reaction, I will give my opinion and see if you felt the same. First, when I heard Taeyang, I was excited, hearing classic Taeyang. It felt like it had been forever. But then I was waiting for the change up, some *newness" to the feel, but it didn't come. Second, Jimin. I felt this song suited his voice so much better. His tone with this melody just fit. It was great to hear. I considered if, maybe, it was my ARMY bias at play with this feeling. But after several listens, that this song, to me, sounds like it was made for Jimin. Third, I felt the song ame in so abruptly and ended to soon. The ending needed one more pass of the chorus to make it feel finished. It just feels like someone chopped of the beginning and the ending on the song. Lastly, I like the song. The predictably of it has already made it an earworm for me. I caat wait to hear your thoughts Jino.
I agree with you the song is quite short, I wish the song was at least 3 + mins, but hey still the song is lit (at least for me) hehhehee. When i finished listening to Vibe for the first time my only reaction was: not impressed. And I don't have a bias but Jimin always has been basically my favorite so i was a little sad. For me it felt like a generic kpop song. But when you put on Jikooks song with Lauv i realized even more how they really didn't use anything of Jimin's potencial .. Jimin is free to make wherever music he wants but I hope so much he goes on a different direction and voice that VIBE on his solo album. I would love him on some sexy upbeat songs, on emotional slow balads, r&b, but please no generic kpop songs.. That's really not a good vibe for his voice and potential in my personal opinion :(

Its a difference of opinion and tastes. I'm of the same preference as Suga, I like Jimin's tone the best. Others are entitled to their own tastes and preference. For the most part I like this music and will include it in my playlist.

He never said he totally disliked it but he liked Jimin’s part better. He also said “I might be going too hash or detailed on Taeyang on this part”(23:13). However I also kind of agreed (not totally), but then again it his opinion. Personally liked a couple parts of his part, but I really like Jimin parts better. Jino also pointed out a part of the song he didn’t like Jimin’s voice that much. So their was criticism for both parts. Also while I am ARMY their are a few Jimin solo songs that are not for me and I have always been open to hear other voices. Just because one might not agree with him doesn’t mean he can’t have his own opinion. By the way he is always bluntly honest not matter who he is reacting to (even BTS).

I might be biased because I am an ARMY. I am also just a regular music listener so I can’t comment on the technicalities, however, I do feel Jimin’s voice provides more textures to the song. And this does not take away from Taeyang’s vocal prowess. I actually found him thru BTS when the guys did a “cover” of Eyes, Nose, Lips. I started to explore more of Taeyang and Big Bang’s music. I probably have high expectations because he’s been away for so long. The song grows on me after listening to it a few times 🥰🥰
I feel what you mean! I LOVED Taeyang's early solo work, like way back to "Solar," so I was SOOOOO HOPEFUL for this song! It feels so very underwhelming for what I know that Taeyang CAN do! He played it too safe! I still am excited about this collab bc it is LEGENDARY in two artists that would formerly have been rivals but can come together in this song, but it fell so short of what I wanted. Maybe it's bc he has been out of music while he was serving military time and getting married, but it could have been so much more. It seems like Taeyang is underwhelming in the first verse and Jimin shines in his verse, then in the bridge to the last chorus Jimin loses some texture and Taeyang picks it up and it all comes back together in the final chorus. I feel like the scandal with Daesang really put some serious hurt on BB. Now so many of their artists are leaving YG and going out on their own. I also think that Taeyang made his own label so he could DO collabs like this that YG would never have approved of. I hope this does well, for the historic property as well as my love for what I know that Taeyang is capable of, but I may have to see if the song grows on me with more listening. At first listen, I felt a bit disappointed and let down since it was such an anticipated collab and comeback, starting a new chapter for Taeyang after everything BB dealt with.

I personally think Taeyang sounded great but could also recognize the change in eras and people from this era/generation just being more accustomed to the sound of BTS. Just from people’s comments, you can tell who has no idea who Taeyang is, those who just end up (maybe unintentionally) stepping on Taeyang who are huge Jimin/BTS stans not knowing the OGs, people who are in between but are able to criticize respectfully, people who have been into kpop way longer and earlier than most of the newer generation, and VIPs. At the end of the day, everyone can have their opinion and their personal preference/taste but stay respectful please. People who can’t do this tend to be from the younger age group it seems and newcomers to the kpop scene and so happens to have been introduced to it through BTS. It’s quite interesting. Not sure why that is but just an observation. *Edit - Oh and don’t get me wrong. I’m also a fan of BTS, specifically their earlier work (aka Butterfly, Fire, Spring Day days). Not really into their globalized/American side (i.e., Butter, Dynamite, etc.)
I had no expectations because I didn't know Taeyang. I think that he is good but lacked something, it didn't got me vibe ;-/, (and part of the melody of the first verse reminded me a BTS' song) but when Jimin started singing woaah it changed! He has melody in his voice that carry you softly. I can't wait for his album!!!

It took me a few listens to understand what Jino was referring to. Jimin has subtle vocal variations and modulations whereas Taeyang just hits hard. Jimin evokes emotion; Taeyang exudes vocal strength.

Coming back to Vibe fresh from the outside world where they are counting the numbers of iTunes that the song has hit number one on, just want to say how proud I am of Park Jimin. Despite his relative youth he stands up to the biggest of the big from previous generations. He is hitting the beat precisely with his vocals, yet his vocals have soft edges that invite us in to participate and dance. His emotional intelligence with the lyrics, with his audience meaning us, and with his colleagues and peers, is on full display. He is utterly gorgeous visually in every single shot. OMG what will his solo work be like. ❤😭🐥😭❤
I really really like this song and collaboration! The song made me feel good and happy. I do like the melody and I think Jimin really shined. I love what his voice brought to the track. He sounds amazing! I'm so proud of him and happy for him that he worked with someone we all know he has really admired over the years.

I listened to it once and instantly when Jimin came on felt like he added so much more depth and dimension to the song with his tone and voice. His high and low intonation just make it so much better. Also felt the intro was so abrupt. I also really liked the duet part.

What you like and what you get lol, thankfully Jimin is going to sing how he wants and not how others want him to sing. Jimin killing with every range, harmony and tone.
When I first listened to the song, it felt like it brightened up a lot when Jimin's joined. I think a lot of people loved Jimin's bridge, so I'm guessing that it's a personal thing. I happen to like it, but I do prefer where he started and ended best. I think they work really well together. And when Jimin goes up higher toward the end, it lifts the music again. For me what I see is that Jimin's dance and emotional performances show up strongly in his parts and I think that has impact.
I heavily disagree with a lot of people in the comments. I enjoyed both Taeyang and Jimin in this song immensely, their vocals were amazing. So I don’t get why some people are saying that Jimin saved the song (though I too like Jimin’s voice more, as an army, his unique vocal tone really made the song shine even more and was the highlight of the song). And I loved the song instantly, I think this was a great comeback, it’s nice to hear Taeyang’s voice again after such a long time as a fan of bigbang, and of course Jimin was incredible too. They have such charisma as performers. All in all, the song is a vibe.
You don't understand because that is their opinion due to their likes/dislikes/preferrence. What's good to you isn't necessarily good to someone else. I, for one, didn't get wowed at all with this song... in my opinion, it's not a bad song, per se, but quite forgettable.

I’m new to Taeyang so my perspective is likely different from those that know him from Big Bang. I loved it. I loved Taeyang’s vibe (for lack of a better word) and I thought he gave a solid vocal. I see people saying they wanted more from Taeyang because it’s like his old stuff, but I don’t know any of his music so it was fresh *for me.* I think Jimin and Taeyang sounded great together. I appreciate getting to hear Jimin’s lower register and then classic falsetto in the bridge. All-in-all, I love the song. It’s just a feel good vibe and then you add in the dancing and I’m sold. Maybe I’m just easy. 🤷🏻♀️😩🤣

Taeyang has a strong voice. Jimin's voice is unique. He has grown so much. Jimin has always made it clear how much he respects Taeyang. This is great collaboration for them.
i thought i was being biased but honestly jimin fits the chorus of vibe more too. taeyang sings very well no doubt but here its like the melody and his voice in the first verse are all over the place its like putting eyes nose lips acapella over vibe's instrumental. while jimin can switch over to different tones depending on the beat which for me made the song flavorful. he can switch from low tone with rasp to soft and powerful and back to soft again he really flows well with the melody.
Oh yes. You explained it so well. I couldn't figure out what it was about the first and second halves of the song that made such a huge difference. Particularly, what was it that Jimin was doing that changed it. It was movement. Jimin added more movement around the beat. Kind of like a vocal-line version of how Hobi raps where his voice sort of dances around the beat. I think that's it! It was bugging me so much trying to figure out what he was doing that was making the difference.

I think it's because in Jimin part there's a lot of instrumentals which makes it sound more nice. Taeyang's starting part is just beat that's why it just his strong vocals. Also, I feel it helped Jimin because in songs when the starting verse is just vocals and 2nd verse is of someone else with lot of beats and instruments - it makes that part looks more good. Just imagine if Jimin started off that song with just beats and his vocal - oh god no, that would be disastrous.

JIMIN has a UNIQUE VOCAL TONE THAT CANT BE TRAINED. His technique is guided by his chemistry, and that is yet something else you can’t train in anyone. The X factor. The VIBE. This isn’t my favourite genre from him. But his voice will always be one of the best in the world for me. I think the 2 seconds with RM in My Universe is what you are picking up about his voice. I get it. I hope he can find a producer and a song writer who can highlight and push more to the forefront those VOCAL QUALITIES that only Park Jimin has.
These two highlights the difference between what I see as traditional kpop fans who prefer more uniformed qualities and newer generation fans who I think prefer more multidimensional vocals (maybe because most new kpop fans came from the international mainstream side of things). I won’t call myself a kpop fan at this point and I never understand what kpop fans were talking about when they talk about “good vocal”. No forms of art can be good by technique alone. Not even in sports. Not in anything.

I feel the same way. I didn't really know why I liked Jimins verse better, even if they are the same but I think it is because his higher, more lighter voice fits the strong and deep beat better. Taeyangs deeper, fuller voice just does not creat much contrast and it just feels bland whereas Jimins voice flows over the beat and brings out the melodie much more. Hope that makes sense :)

This is why I came here for, to check your honest reaction and review, and you are not wrong. I felt the same way, even after listening to it a few times. Jimin’s melodious voice, singing style, and ad libs can evoke emotions.
It’s not that Taeyang’s voice is not good, but it’s just Jimin’s voice gives life and brings colors to the song.

After listening to it dozens of times since midnight ET, I really like this song. Having said that...from the first listen, I started out thinking "well, Taeyang is a good singer" but I wasn't blown away (and I have nothing against him - I know the history but think it belongs in the past, for the most part). When Jimin started, the song completely changed for me and I couldn't believe how much he changed the song for the better. I love this version of Jimin, but not more or less. I love hearing his lower register and using the falsetto for accents/adlibs and punch.

25:52 but Jimin is really great on this kind of thing, kind of like Home and some other song/s I can't think of now where it's almost more like rapping. He is great at making it very dynamic, using different textures, riding the beat and different vocal tones in a very smooth way. Him shifting between a more textured lower tone to a sweet higher tone, back to a lower but warm tone etc + that creaky effect and cries etc that he does just makes it very dynamic + he is masterful with emoting with his voice. I do think you are a bit harsh tho on Taeyang's part and the song but that's just your taste however I do get why you are feeling Jimin's part.
I like the song and think they complement each other. And I have thought you are a bit square in how songs should be before and often totally disagree so I expected you wouldn't like the song or any of their vocals so you came out better than expected.

i really like the song and have found myself humming it throughout the day. to me it has a 90s groove to it. ive been an army for a long long time, but i was a fan of big bang and taeyang even longer. im proud of jimin for this performance. standing toe to toe with his personal idol. they both did a great job and i think ill be listening to this a lot

Before I dive into your reaction, I will give my opinion and see if you felt the same.
First, when I heard Taeyang, I was excited, hearing classic Taeyang. It felt like it had been forever. But then I was waiting for the change up, some *newness" to the feel, but it didn't come.
Second, Jimin. I felt this song suited his voice so much better. His tone with this melody just fit. It was great to hear. I considered if, maybe, it was my ARMY bias at play with this feeling. But after several listens, that this song, to me, sounds like it was made for Jimin.
Third, I felt the song ame in so abruptly and ended to soon. The ending needed one more pass of the chorus to make it feel finished. It just feels like someone chopped of the beginning and the ending on the song.
Lastly, I like the song. The predictably of it has already made it an earworm for me. I caat wait to hear your thoughts Jino.

When i finished listening to Vibe for the first time my only reaction was: not impressed. And I don't have a bias but Jimin always has been basically my favorite so i was a little sad. For me it felt like a generic kpop song. But when you put on Jikooks song with Lauv i realized even more how they really didn't use anything of Jimin's potencial .. Jimin is free to make wherever music he wants but I hope so much he goes on a different direction and voice that VIBE on his solo album. I would love him on some sexy upbeat songs, on emotional slow balads, r&b, but please no generic kpop songs.. That's really not a good vibe for his voice and potential in my personal opinion :(

Its a difference of opinion and tastes. I'm of the same preference as Suga, I like Jimin's tone the best. Others are entitled to their own tastes and preference. For the most part I like this music and will include it in my playlist.

He never said he totally disliked it but he liked Jimin’s part better. He also said “I might be going too hash or detailed on Taeyang on this part”(23:13). However I also kind of agreed (not totally), but then again it his opinion. Personally liked a couple parts of his part, but I really like Jimin parts better. Jino also pointed out a part of the song he didn’t like Jimin’s voice that much. So their was criticism for both parts. Also while I am ARMY their are a few Jimin solo songs that are not for me and I have always been open to hear other voices. I might be biased because I am an ARMY. I am also just a regular music listener so I can’t comment on the technicalities, however, I do feel Jimin’s voice provides more textures to the song. And this does not take away from Taeyang’s vocal prowess. I actually found him thru BTS when the guys did a “cover” of Eyes, Nose, Lips. I started to explore more of Taeyang and Big Bang’s music. I probably have high expectations because he’s been away for so long. The song grows on me after listening to it a few times 🥰🥰

I feel what you mean! I LOVED Taeyang's early solo work, like way back to "Solar," so I was SOOOOO HOPEFUL for this song! It feels so very underwhelming for what I know that Taeyang CAN do! He played it too safe! I still am excited about this collab bc it is LEGENDARY in two artists that would formerly have been rivals but can come together in this song, but it fell so short of what I wanted. Maybe it's bc he has been out of music while he was serving military time and getting married, but it could have been so much more. It seems like Taeyang is underwhelming in the first verse and Jimin shines in his verse, then in the bridge to the last chorus Jimin loses some texture and Taeyang picks it up and it all comes back together in the final chorus.
I feel like the scandal with Daesang really put some serious hurt on BB. Now so many of their artists are leaving YG and going out on their own. I also think that Taeyang made his own label so he could DO collabs like this that YG would never have approved of. I hope this does well, for the historic property as well as my love for what I know that Taeyang is capable of, but I may have to see if the song grows on me with more listening. At first listen, I felt a bit disappointed and let down since it was such an anticipated collab and comeback, starting a new chapter for Taeyang after everything BB dealt with.

I was saying since release that something is missing in the production, but since I know 0 ish I can only go with instinct and feeling. The beginning wasn't it, needed to be rounded up by something, some other sounds. I think the producer might only know how to ratatatata and wipiwipi because that was not it. Seems like he was thinking "ok, I won't add anything here to highlight TY voice and then add a lot to dimmer JMs" (?) but the result was completely the opposite of what he wanted? I don't know.
Also, I need a good mash up bc after TY first line "I can't express it in words" I can stop and continue singing baby babay geudaneun, caramel macchiato...

No need for diplomacy here. Honestly I don't know how Taeyang himself agreed to release this when he can clearly hear that his ass is being owned hard. He really should have stopped, practised some more, taken some more hasty vocal lessons and then re-recorded.
I honestly don't think his vocals are the problem here, his voice is great but the instrumental is super empty for his part and the melody doesn't 'flow'. He needs a better producer.
jimin definitely brought the song to life and revived it, the beat sample sounds like teach me how to dougie lmao, maybe that’s why it sounds so dated to me? just not the fresh kind of sound i was anticipating, will be supporting for jimin anyways 💗

I personally think Taeyang sounded great but could also recognize the change in eras and people from this era/generation just being more accustomed to the sound of BTS.
Just from people’s comments, you can tell who has no idea who Taeyang is, those who just end up (maybe unintentionally) stepping on Taeyang who are huge Jimin/BTS stans not knowing the OGs, people who are in between but are able to criticize respectfully, people who have been into kpop way longer and earlier than most of the newer generation, and VIPs.
At the end of the day, everyone can have their opinion and their personal preference/taste but stay respectful please. People who can’t do this tend to be from the younger age group it seems and newcomers to the kpop scene and so happens to have been introduced to it through BTS. It’s quite interesting. Not sure why that is but just an observation.
*Edit - Oh and don’t get me wrong. I’m also a fan of BTS, specifically their earlier work (aka Butterfly, Fire, Spring Day days). Not really into their globalized/American side (i.e., Butter, Dynamite, etc.)
I had no expectations because I didn't know Taeyang. I think that he is good but lacked something, it didn't got me vibe ;-/, (and part of the melody of the first verse reminded me a BTS' song) but when Jimin started singing woaah it changed! He has melody in his voice that carry you softly. I can't wait for his album!!!
This song and JK's Dreamer both made me realize how good the Hybe team is (musically, styling, choreo, etc). This could be so much better.
