Hi Michael great video. Do you say you think in pictures or words like when you think about a task in carpentry do you think in pictures like the pictures in your video or do you think in words verbally talking to yourself thinking through how you would do something?

i think in drawings/ pictures mainly.....i think most chippies do thats why they mostly default to drawing/sketching when explaining construction detail to each other, architects, clients etc....as the adage goes:a good sketch saves a thousand words...and it helps spot any problems up ahead.

IM lost great advise....cant seem to get it right in practise though ,ive created a truss with 4x4s all with mortice and tenon joins...thats come good together ...my wish is to extend the top of the truss out with a small hip roof just over a meter down from the top as they do in the blackforest germany....as the 2 hip rafters come together at the peak I need to do a compound angle on them.....thats where all the angles seem to get lost by me ...its like picturing the top of a pryamid made with 4 beams all coming together at the top ...just half of it though....any advise would be grateful

@@michaeldownes516 hi thankyou...I was up till 1.30 last night breaking my brain ...GOT it!!!!......I used a pryamid calculator....my mistake was cutting the angles for a complets pryamid forgeting that it was only half and facing off on a straight surface all corrected it works ....I would still send you a link when I knew how!!!....I ask my daughter if she knows how ....thankyou again
