Had to buy one. I wasn't a fan but the mediatek and 2 in 1 set up is actually very good. Thanks for the review. It's been about 2 months now. And it's been great. No more over heating and fans!
Months later and how do you like the Spin 513? I wish the webcam was better, but I have a feeling pretty much all Chromebook webcams are lacking. I also wish the minimizing/maximizing transitions were smoother. Otherwise it's still awesome overall.
@@vvvios the hardware is very premium. Iove the glass screen but the chrome book software feels dated. Switching back from tablet mode the keyboard software died. I almost opened up the machine to readjust the keyboard cable. Luckily on a comment on my 20th video someone said use the refresh and power button. It's really a nice machine love the colors. But the little hardware glitches and one reset makes this only 3 maybe 4 stars out of 5. Even the J button started to not work. I want to like it alot more. Maybe it will change foe the better over time
After struggling to find a laptop for the girlfriend for a few weeks. I just wanted to say thank you so much after watching this review I brought one. Now I have one very happy girlfriend on her bday she absolutely loves it.
This is one of my go to TH-cam channels when I need an honest and open review of my next purchase. Based on this review, I have recently purchased an Acer Chromebook Spin 513.
I was hesitant to buy a Chromebook with an ARM processor, but I'm glad I did. The Acer Chromebook Spin 513 is the fastest Chromebook I've ever used. It handles everything I throw at it with ease and I am also really impressed with the battery life, what a great Mediatek Kompanio 1380 processor.
My Enterprize SPIN 513 with 8gb ram is awesome and the battery life is exceptional a real travel nomad device for long hours at the airport and its lightweight portable with a decent processor I wish I could learn more about the inside hardware of this laptop. The screen is great and keyboard trackpad just fine.
bought the media Tec powered version with the 3:2 screen as opposed to the 16:9 and Snapdragon processor, have read and seen that this Snapdragon version is a bit glitchy compared to the media Tec version which has the 713 screen which is very good
Not revealing its a sponsored video until the very end is extremely unprofessional, and probably illegal if anyone actually took the time to challenge you on it.
you could also go for the Acer spin 514 its kinda the same and same price but it has an actuall AMD processor, more ports, fans for cooling, microSD slot etc
My parents use this Chromebook, but it was a BIG disappointment that it doesn't not connect to external monitor. This is actually the first and only laptop I've come across that can't.
Can you please give me your honest opinion? I ordered the Samsung galaxy flex alpha 2 for 600.00(250.00 off for black friday). I don't have any pc at the moment but do have an s21 and a galaxy tab A tablet. I want to start a youtube channel and might need to do light editing. I saw that they are selling the galaxy chromebook and the chromebook 2 for cheaper as well. Should I keep the windows pc or should I cancel and get a chromebook instead? Thanks I'm stressing myself out as sales end tomorrow and I have to quickly decide..
Also won't be using this for anything too tasking....I've got a Windows machine for that. I just something light I can carry round. The display looks really cool.
I'm an arborist and planting 100 trees costs several thousand dollars. So I'd be interested to see the reality behind how a single chromebook purchase gets 100 trees planted.
There are two versions in the UK. For £299 you get 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, for £399 8GB RAM and 128GB. So the extra £100 is well worth it. In the store the screen was quite good and it seemed to be fast enough for normal people.
Seems pretty good. We have a few acer chromebooks in the house, they were great. Cheap and doing everything the kids needed for school and private stuff. The fact that "spin" means "spider" in the dutch language has kept me away from these though. Maybe acer can call these "butterfly" or something?
This review is not the mediatek guys, as you know..Completely different 2022 3:2 model..The previous one reviewed here is 16:9 and with a Qualcomm soc. Different performance between the two, different screen ratio, almost a completely different machine. Just to clarify ya'all!
yes it is compatible with USI stylus, it is a good plus for note taking ( I use it and it is very good, almost as an Ipad and with android tablet with dedicated stylus. Definetely worthed and they are also cheapy: less than 50 bucks

Once again your rants made me get one of those and from the UK....dang those things are cheaper then they are here.....well here they've evaporated. Can't find one if your life depended on it.
Hey, Acer, I had started to think that they had closed down, all with the black screen problems and soft bodies but alas I think I will tangle with them again next year then, if I can raise the quid. By the way 2021 it's partners, it might not be the same room at the same time but yeah, partners, good review by the way.
I decided to get one and the touchpad stopped working in my first hour of using it, and it seems to just disconnect from my wifi every 30 or so seconds (which is ~100mb/s and perfectly stable on all my other devices) I really hope I just got a defective unit because the build quality is nice, and the touch screen works very well.
Nice video, I wanted to like the Spin 513 more than I could. I found the performance of this one a bit unreliable, it didn't seem to like loading up multiple tabs at once quickly, hopefully software updates may help here. The build quality of the way the way the screen closes but still has flex and the one I received having a loose feeling trackpad didn't help, I think that latter may have been more of a one off as haven't seen it mentioned here or in other reviews. I was just surprised as the cheaper Spin 311 feels more 'solid'. A nice long update life on the Spin 513 though with Chrome OS updates through to June 2029 (AUE date).
@@manny7886 generally speaking most laptops are 16:9 so longer rather than wider. A 4:3 is more squarish like an iPad or a surface tablet, I have a preference for the latter when it comes to chromebooks
Have you tried running any Linux distros on that thing? It looks like it might be a useful "throwaway" type laptop if only it weren't running something as utterly worthless as Chrome OS.
Meh i'm still waiting for chromebooks to be more powerful. This is the cheaper version of my higher spec-ed acer spin 5 and I love it for my gaming needs in pc mode and art, shopping and travel planning needs in tablet mode. Plus it's light and one of the first 3:2 aspect ratio laptops. But I can see how these would be great for school kids, better than my clunky dell back in the day.

Have Google Play Store?
