As a Past Director of the Knights of St Columba in UK I have frequently attended ceremonies of the Knights of Columbus who were the inspiration for the founding of the Knights of St Columba.
This is NOT a KofC fourth Degree Ceremony. It's likely the dinner and reception held after the degree. Come on... tables, food, women... Get a grip people.
Hopefully they will make this degree open to all soon like the first three, as if we are proud Americans why swear the members to keep the act of Knights being American secret? Also why the snob attire. Many families struggling can't afford the Tuxedo or are intimidated by it being the rich high society wear it in pop culture. IMO make the degree simple like the other ones and make it class and not a ritual like it is.
This looks like a State convention somewhere, the Knights at these functions have put in in years and years of service in their local communities, and at the District and State levels to get where they are. Some even National Service.
I took my degree in April 2015 and during the ceremony there was not one camera or video. During the dinner after the ceremony we went to church then after church we had our dinner and we had video cameras we had photos taken and this was in Illinois so I have only been in this organization for 3 years and I don't see what is wrong convention or a 4th degree dinner
Before I took my exemplification on October 3 last year, the second anniversary of my initiation, we were told that our phones had to be turned off because a call could interfere with the speaker system.
And I found out that change everything now do what you want I was shock what saw I saw people talking and on the phone carrier on loud conversation no stop It
A ceremony of initiation into the Fourth Degree is not made public, same as the Daughters of Isabella who work hand in hand with the men. If your a valiant church attendee you qualify to enter their group as all are more or less working towards helping the poor, their money is not to satisfy their ego but to fulfill the calling of what Jesus asked of us.
+The curiousone my bad, actually im not a k of c member, it is my father who is a 4th degree knight, but he taught me well, since I was a kid, I have seen a lot of stuff and learned a lot too, first step is, if you are a minor, you need to join the squires first, which is the preparation before joining the KC, but if you are already in legal age, your first step is, try to find which chapter you are under if you will join, they call it council, or try to find their council hall, and you can tell them that you want to join, and maybe if you know a person who is a member of KC, you can ask him to introduce you to the council, then they will set an appointment for your interview, and maybe if you will be able to get accepted, they will prepare you for the initiation, then you will be a brother knight, you will be called as brother knight until your 2nd or 3rd degree knight, but what I am sure of is, when you became a 4th degree , you will be addressed by your fellow knight as sir knight

that would be the daughters of Isabella chapters, the sister organization to the Knights, like it or not its a Mens organization, men and women are different, complementary to each other but we are different even the way we are generally wired, that dont mean that one gender is above the other in all traditional roles, case and point some ladies make better leaders and multitaskers then men, and some men can do a meaner job of sewing and cleaning professionally as chiefs, tailors or car detailers for example, and not all of them are same sex attracted, I know several men that are married with a wife and kids that are tailors my great grandpa on my moms mothers side was a tailor and made pants during ww1 as well as worked on cubs uniforms in the early days, and made many suits for the powerful of chicago, including the mayor of the time. and yes this is a reception, we dont show the degrees because we dont want to spoil the fun for those in the future and to those not involved would not understand how such things relate to the 4 fold mission of family, brotherhood, charity, and patriotism
