    I have both the Canon RP, and R5. I can tell you that one of the first RP software updates gave the RP eye detection autofocus. Both the RP and the R5 will also focus and track an eye even when it is on TV.

    • @ritrattoaziendale
      @ritrattoaziendale ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@redowanahmed6082 depends on what you do; if you need low iso noise, then go with the RP because it's fullframe; for all the other uses, especially if you also shoot video other then pictures, just go with R10, it's miles ahead, video is years ahead, and has more buttons and a joystick, from the usability point is much better then the RP even being a crop sensor.
      I had R10 as a backup camera for weddings, I was very happy in any situation except in the church with dark environments, so I ended up selling the R10 to buy the RP as my new backup camera (the primary as an R6), and (only) in a church the RP outperforms easily the R10.

    The EOS R basically is still a very good and capable camera till this very day. Being the same as the 5D mark 4, it’s just a mirror less camera with a smaller body design. Thanks to its 30 megapixel sensor, commercial photography work and print ads is just great together with Canon’s color science. And addition to its auto focus tracking, fashion photography could never been any easier. Having the EOS R6 together with me, the EOS R had always been my work horse camera till this very day for all my professional photography works.

    • @markburns993

      Agree totally. I shot a birthday event a few months ago and took over 300 photos, about half single focus point and the other half eye focus. Not one out of focus shot. Not one. The focusing on the R may not be the R6 or R5 but still is nothing to sneeze at.
      Also we have 30mp on the R which not only gives us more cropping space but also retains 23% more detail when removing noise in post. My R6 friends look at me strange when I tell them that the R is a better noise camera until I explain to them the noise removal in post. Then I hit them with the fact there is more pixel compression in the 20mp R6 RAW image than there is in the 30mp R JPEG image.
      I also still buy quality EF Canon lenses for use with the EF-RF Control Ring adapter which is programmed for ISO adjustment.

    • @RamonDeKlein
      @RamonDeKlein 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I “upgraded” from the 5D IV to the R6. Build quality of the 5D is way better. Also R6 doesn’t have GPS and the mode dial is cheap and can’t be locked. It changes often when getting the camera out of the bag. Image quality of the 5D is also a tad better (on low ISO). For landscape photography, I still prefer my 5D. Only if you need the AF or extreme ISO, then I would upgrade. I regret buying the R6 a bit. The EF adapter works great, so no need to upgrade your lenses.

    • @stephv9949
      @stephv9949 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RamonDeKlein Thank you Ramon for sharing your experience this is what's making me hesitant about getting the R6. I'm really leaning towards the R5 but the price point it's a bit high at the moment so I just got two new lenses and probably I'll be investing in a mirrorless next year.

    • @RamonDeKlein
      @RamonDeKlein 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@stephv9949 Unfortunately, my camera shop didn't have the R5 and R6 so I had to buy it online. Although the build quality of the R6 is more than decent, it's not the tank the 5D IV is. The mode dial is annoying, because I shoot Av for 99% of the time and don't even check the aperture and mode during shoots. It's just another thing to look out for. GPS is annoying too, although you can connect it to your phone. This is suboptimal and may result in incorrect GPS locations if the app isn't configured properly. The R5 probably has superior image quality compared to the 5D IV, but it was too expensive for my use-case. I also don't crop or print large, so I settled with the R6 instead. I think the 5D IV was just too good ;-) One of the reasons to move to RF mount was to get a lighter setup, but only the RF 70-200 is really lighter. RF lenses are very expensive though 😞

    I recently got back into photography after dusting off my Canon EOS 50 (Elan II), and I wanted to jump into digital. Initially, I was targeting the 200D II (Rebel SL3/250D), but I was told DSLR was going away, so I checked out the mirrorless line. In the end, I got the R10, as it was more comfortable to handle than the R50 and it had a lot of features for its price range. I'll be looking into taking photography classes to master both film and digital. 📸

    I have the RP and I love it, but boy is it slow. I really wish they (Canon) would do an update for the autofocus. But I'm waiting for the R7 to become available body only because the kit lenses available for APSC in the RF mount are of no interest to me. I have the Sigma 18-35 f1.8 zoom and the EF to RF adapter which together puts them to shame. Will have to get a speed booster for my "L" lenses too. The R7 might even replace my RP. Nice video too!

  • @wellingtoncrescent2480

    Thanks. Nicely done, a very helpful review. I'm not entirely sure people make their buying decisions based primarily on price point, since I think I first decided on full frame vs crop sensor before considering price. But you may be on to something. The only thing I wish you had included was the EOS-M line, since it's Canon's original mirrorless APSC series, and Canon denies the rumour that they've been discontinued. For example, the M6 II has a 32 MP sensor, shoots 15 fps mechanical/30 fps electronic, and sells for $849 USD - making it a serious challenger to the R10 and even the R7. To be honest, I don't think I've ever had as much fun with a camera, which I use primarily for birds/wildlife (it works flawlessly with Canon's EF to M adaptor). Plus, with all the attention focused on the R series, you can get an M mount at a good price :)

    The answer is Hasselblad X2D!! 34 yrs in the wedding game and whilst the previous gen Hass X1Dii were brilliant this new thing is off the charts. We have not officially photographed a wedding we are still the new and much anticipated XCD 90mm - but theses three new lenses are all you need. Our kit now comprises - 2x Hasselblad X2D, 1 x XCD 38mm, 1 x XCD 55mm, and the XCD 90mm when it arrives). All three lenses are F2.5 and have the same form factor and filter thread. X2D couples with a Nikon dedicated Profoto Flash with a couple of Profoto A2's just in case it rains, an iPad Pro so Jane can check for blinks on groups - Phocus transmits effortlessly and instantly live. 4 spare batts and an Ona Trafalgar bag We also carry a small carbon Giotto tripod flexible for low and high shots and thats it. I am however expecting to encounter one small minor issue - files are a lot bigger so the digital book will ultimately take a little longer processing the Tiffs from LR but apart from that...... Now Hass get to work on updating the gorgeous little 907x to 100mp and we are on.
    Invest in yourself; invest in your craft, let very picture tell a story and every album will be a work of art made with love and passion. Good luck

    The R3 is top of the range now because it’s for sports. You don’t want to fill the memory so the sensor size is lower sou you can get more shots before it freezes. You also need to be send photos for pro sports as the event is happening. No time to really send huge files out. Sports and wildlife are photography types that still need a camera vs. a cell phone!

    As a photographer who would want professional quality photos, the Canon R has much better photo quality in low light over the Canon R7 with less noise making it easier to edit high quality photos. Lots of reviewers online has said this in recent months and shown samples at high iso. For a consumer hobbyists though, the R7 may be the way to go for speed and tech advances plus lower cost apsc lenses. For video the R7 does beat the R but not for the best photo quality in low light situations. The physics of pixel pitch does make a difference with the Full Frame R having larger pixel sensors for cleaner signal in low light. This is a reason that lots of pros may still buy an R over apsc and it is still a popular camera.

    How many batteries do you bring on a wedding with the R5? I second shot for my son after I got the R5, and used my 5DSR as my second body. I went through 8 batteries with the R5 and had to finish on the 5DSR, as I was out of juice. My son went through 3-4 batteries total on 2 5DMkIVs and shot a lot more than I did. I have the RP. It was my first digital camera not on a phone or pocket-sized. It was very helpful for me to hear all this and tbh the auto focus and low-light focusing are my biggest issues when I'm shooting bands or dancers (mostly jazz/swing) because the lighting is not conducive and i get a lot of blurry shots. I just manually move my focus around. So if I ever decide to upgrade it sounds like the R5 is for me, which is what my wedding photographer friends told me they have. Thanks!

    • @iancurrie8844

      The RP focuses extremely well in low light. If you are getting blurry shots, it's not the camera. Make sure you're in single focusing mode (not servo) it prioritizes sensitivity over speed. Uses lenses with very wide apertures for better results in low light. Rapid movement of dancers in low light? Think sigma primes at F/1.4 adapted or Ef 135mm F2/L.

    ☺ You mentined in your video that the R and RP do not have the same focusing system. My friend has the R with the firmware update and has eye detection. We used my R5 and his R side by side and they operate nearly identical. Can you elaborate what you mean that they don't share the same focusing system? This is important information as I'm thinking of buying the R as a backup camera because of it's 30MP sensor to give me a tad bit more cropping capability over any 20 - 26 MP cameras that cost much more.
    I'm discovering 🤗 that my 28-70 f2 is my all day wedding lens because of the R5s 45MP overkill. And just like you, this combination emimates the need to have the 70-200 f2.8 with me. I crop in post as I can reframe a shot and crop in more than the 1.6x in camera. The only draw back of not using the 70-200 is the subject compression. But I don't think clients would ever care. They don't know what they don't know.
    With the Atomos V+, one can shoot 8K 30 all day long without overheating. The reason is the EVF and backscreen are turned off which is the cause of the overheating. I shoot little clips no longer than 5 minutes long at 4k/60 internally. I don't even get an overheat warning even with the backscreen on. The clips are just for making short highlight videos. I have no need for 8k at this time. I would rather have a 1080p ARRI camera that would blow the doors off my R5 for picture quality (HDR is where it's at). Some Hollywood production companies are still shooting in HD.
    I have another question for you Vanessa. With your Ganarbox, are you using the internal care reader or using a faster external card reader. If you are not using an external reader, try using the Prograde CFexpress B / SD UHS-2 reader plugged into the Ganarbox. What used to take me 2 hours to copy a Anglebird 256GB CF card now only takes me 20 minutes. Even my Angelbird 256GB SD card copies just as fast as my CF card.
    Thank you very much for your time creating this video. I found it very interesting. Love the Troll part!! 🤣 When Canon releases its new R1, I bet you'll have to make new video comparing that one with the others. 😂
