- Already in The Satanic Bible, Anton LaVey had shown considerable creativity. Concepts like "Psychic Vampire" and "The Balance Factor" soon became household terms in America and the rest of the world. His description of the ritual space as an "Intellectual Decompression Chamber" also hit home outside the strictly Satanic perimeters. As did the slightly later term "Occultnik", signifying a person who is lost within old structures of occultism without being able to see what's really of use on a practical, material level. LaVey’s initial key works, The Satanic Bible and The Satanic Rituals, are great examples of creative appropriation and reformulation. But the two volumes of essays and maxims that followed much later, ie The Devil's Notebook and Satan Speaks, genuinely contain the essence of LaVey's wit and creativity. In these books, we find many fascinating topics: the integration of emotionally resonant music, stressing the ego, encouraging a sense of humour, artificial human companions, the total environment, the archetype of the villain, the third side of truth and much more. I thought upon your words art and magic are the same. A self labelled satanic high priest (he said he was son of 2 satanic high priests) challenged me to a magic challenge. Before thinking long, I heard myself reply," You're on!" HE said he'd cast something from Anton Lavey book of Satan at me at 6p.m sharp. I forgot until in a very hot bathroom in my previous home--suddenly! My watch beep on the hour. Instantly, the bathroom went from very hot to freezer ice cold! I looked at my watch. 6:00 p.m, exactly as said by the satanic high priest! Impressive! I had...no...idea the book is real. Now enters Art, to match his Magic. Following ...no...particular method, I said to heaven to empower my words, I used my hands to pull up from the floor--white walls all around me, above me, beneath my feet. Then, I said," Return! At 7 times to the sender!" Instantly--room went hot. Two days later, I found the satanic high priest who quickly said," Your God is real!" I replied to him," And your Magic is real!" We were...no...longer combatants, but now friends learning from each other. He admitted he sent every death curse at me from Anton Lavey book Satan. He Astral projected, saw me in bathroom then white walls came up he touched physically. His spells hit him, he couldn't breathe, fell to floor, his stomach contracted until he said to heaven...."You are God." HE could then breathe. I respect Satan, mentioned in Bible " the God of this world". Satan, a wonderful creation of God.

Your words perhaps accurate, Lavey a reductionist rather than innovator. His shameless attitude and dramatic flair helped promote his ways, yet he was an innovator in one way--his satanic bible does...contain real Magic he found a way to market to the crowds to generate interest in Magic long before our beloved Harry Potter movies, books. My respect for You.
