HOW TO MAKE A PINCUSHION THAT SHARPENS YOUR PINS - Using scrap fabric and any container.

  • This video will show you exactly how to take an old small container and some scrap fabric and make a really pretty pincushion. You can use jam jar lids, teacups, small bowls, toy trucks, anything you like.

    Just FYI, steel wool will rust so don’t leave your pins and needles in it and use dark fabric. Also wipe the pins and needles when taking them out because the rust will carry to whatever you are sewing. I live in a relatively dry environment but it still rusts. Here it took about 6 months before the rust showed up

      Ooh, thank you for this additional tip. I have not had any trouble with that but it probably does depend where you live and which steel wool you use. You can also make these pincushions without the wire wool. Thank you for taking the time to add this.

    Nicely done, many thanks! As for the possibility of rusting, no need to worry. Desiccant packets can be bought by the dozens and I use them all over the house. Just keep one near your pincushion (or anything that needs to stay dry) and change it out when it turns color.
