  • A peach of a time is had by all as the challenge is to find vintage advertising. Bob wonders if his profits will be bigger than a breadbox. An estate sale visit mixes things up and uncovers some buried treasure.

It's great to be able to watch the shows again. Thank you Bob, for putting these on TH-cam.

I like bob, you never know what's gonna happen with him. But it's always something cool.

Oh yeah, I can feel their pain. I once bought a beautiful 18th Century French-Canadian made flintlock musket for $95 at an estate auction, then re-sold it at another auction, and it only fetched $40. --and the auction house takes their cut out of that--ouch!

I suspect a lot of the dealers collapse in price when in front of the cameras. There is a camera-influenced discount that is not being mentioned.

The style of the show was good.....but their negotiating would offend a lot of dealers.

This show was cancelled pretty early on: they had high hopes for it. The production costs must have been pretty high. Note auction commissions aren't deducted. For a somewhat similar format
Try Antiques Road Trip on BBC - lots of episodes are posted. And the experts are a lot more personable than this lot. Granted they would probably have improved over time.

Seems there's only elderly people at those auctions. With maybe one or two young people.

So few people in the auction house! Not a great pool of potential bidders, especially as there were so many other items for sale.

The results of auction will depend on the participating bidders. The fewer the audience of participating bidders there is the lower the hammer price results. Even if you have a great item the price realized will be low if only one or two collectors are present who wants the item.

I liked these shows and learned a great deal so I was sorry when they went off the air - Miller Gaffney is certainly an intelligent businesswoman however her antics of grimacing, smirking when others lose, putting on the " southern charm", and little girl behaviors take away any authenticity and genuineness she might have -

This show reminds me of Celebrity Jeopardy on SNL. The winner is the one who loses the least. Cool concept but man could they lose more money?
