LOVED this episode. The acting!? They even had me being like "wow, look at Kieran Atreides emoting!" I feel like this is the first episode I really want to rewatch. That Landsraad scene: chef's kiss

Desmond and Harrow are real standouts because they're some of the only weird performances that we all love to see in the Dune universe.

"Sisterhood Above All" and "Twice Born" --two banger "Dune: Prophecy" episodes in a row! The final scenes in both gave me chills. What more can anyone ask for? The first one was a gourmet chef's kiss but I really enjoyed the second one despite the fact the Ixian came off as a stereotypical thug / arms dealer. Here's another thought for you... Could it be that he was from the lower classes, the non-scientific intelligentsia of their society or was he just a common thief? My money's on the latter...

Did anyone else get Siaynoq vibes from the group hypnosis scene? So good!

I did expect the Emperor or someone to laugh when House Harkonnen, who was just elevated to High Council status, immediately opened up an inquiry on their first day

Abu, you mentioned in one of the earlier shows that they should have cut the Kieran scenes and had Valia and her spy reveal he's working for the resistance. I think that idea explored further would have made this episode so much more compelling.
Imagine for a second we see Inez and Kieren fooling around in ep 1, then we see the resistance reveal from Valia in ep 2. Then in episode three we see that valia hates the Atreides and we're wondering if this nice guy is actually a scapegoat. Ep 4 we get Valia's plans to throw Kieren under the bus, which hits so much harder after episode 3. Then we see the club scene from Inez's perspective. We still don't really know if Kieren is with the resistance, but he's hinting at it while also giving it second thoughts. Is he going to chicken out? Maybe Inez is secretly in on it too? Who knows. Then we see Desmond tell the guards to get the thinking machine people and the only thinking machine we've seen so far is at the sisterhood. Is he going to strike at Valia? We know almost everything but we're missing the one piece that brings it together and it adds so much tension.
The big reveal is at the lansarat. We see Desmond bring in guys we maybe recognize from the background at the club. We can start to piece together what's going on at that point, right before the big reveal happens. It would hit so so so much harder and all it takes is removing some scenes.

I don't mind the show, it just seems like it's too short! They're trying to wow us, but it's hard because you're expecting it. With 8-10 episode shows things are allowed to be a little more of a surprise. Like when I saw the head tattoo guy I already knew he was gonna fail. Like... we didn't even get to savor his downfall. What works best for bad guys _we know_ are gonna bite it, is that we get to see them do the bad stuff! Here we get introduced and in the next scene basically, we see he wasn't worth two cents. Yuck! That said, it's been a wild ride, but it really just feels like nothing has really hit or _gone off the rails,_ yet. But from what we've been given, I'm down for another season but I'm not sure how that'll pan out.

Well,.. FWIW I'm enjoying the show.
As I'm not taking a degree in scriptwriting, all the microagressions against creative writing dogma that Abu is dwelling on don't even register on my critical scale. I do hope the writers, that clearly care about this Dune universe (way more than the chumps that diid Rings of Power or Witcher), don't take too much offense at Abu's attacks on their professional abilities. They seemed like a nice bunch when you guys interviewed them recently, even strongly complementing the Gom Jabbar podcast. Seems a bit rude to now take a giant dump on their performance in their life's vocation.

Do we think Kieran got added in after the switch from Dune: Sisterhood to Dune: Prophecy? Like, someone at HBO said, "There's too many women talking. Better throw in a power-fantasy young, white man to shake the 'woke' allegations?"
Because, heck. you could remove this entirely and give us a mentat just trying to keep all these morons alive. Give him a Scottish accent. Show is 20% better already.
I do like the show, a great deal. But Da Klerb is killing me.
