Obsidian 1.8 is available for inisiders. If you are not, here is what you can expect once this version becomes generally available. If you can, become an Obsidian Catalyst with a one-time payment for life-time early access and the warm feeling of supporting the development team at obsidian.md/pricing
You didn't mention the iCloud change, but it's spectacular for iOS devices in this update. Reduced my launch time by 95% on my iPhone. Good rundown on the other changes!
That's true. Two reasons: First, I have no iOS/Apple devices and could not check or demo it. Second, this is part of version 1.8 for mobile, which I did not cover at all. I only focused on the desktop changes. Thank you for being so attentive! For those who asked, this is the change: "We no longer wait for iCloud to finish syncing your configuration files. If a configuration file was offloaded, it will be redownloaded and you will be prompted to reload the app once the file was been synced."
04:27 it's the 80/20 principle, perfectly. Four-thousand views in one day, though. Congrats on your success. There is a large Obsidian community and you're very generous to give back.
Thank you! The Web View could be a game-changer, particularly with its "Save to Vault" option: Browse a site and save the content to the vault. Nice. (In the current version, scraping appears to be mostly text, but it's completely dependent on the site. But still...)
@@3ric908 thank you. The process is described here th-cam.com/video/3qopiej4Zo0/w-d-xo.html for the background image. The CSS can be found here tfthacker.com/experiment-vault-logo.
The web clipper view sounds like it could be very useful, when learning new things. Now I just have to figure out why the extension isn't recognising my vault... even though it's open. 🤔
@@toranshaw4029 did you check the web Clipper tutorial? kspr.me/clipvid It shouldn't matter whether the vault is open or not. Just that it is correctly configured in the extension and clipper template.
I am using the AnuPpuccin theme with my custom colors. Additionally, I have some CSS snippets (e.g. for showing an image when no note is open): kspr.me/tweaks
You are welcome. As commented by others, it is mentioned in the video and the link to it is in the description. Basically, you need a "Catalyst" license for a one-time fee (currently starting at USD 25) to give you life-time early access to new releases.
Is Obsidian making any moves towards Logseq style block-level outlining, and hierarchical inheritance of properties between blocks? That would be hugely powerful.
I don't think they can since people have mentioned this before in how the apps are built. Obsidian is based off of markdown files or pages whereas logseq is not so I don't think they can but it would be great if so
I honestly don't know. I am not part of or affiliated to Obsidian. You may want to check the roadmap (obsidian.md/roadmap/) or join their Discord server (discord.gg/obsidianmd) for this kind of information.

That's true. Pareto in action 🙂.
Thank you for your encouraging words, too.
Thank you so much for the quick updates.
You are very welcome. I am glad you liked it.
Thanks for these. Scripted and presented efficiently! Love Obsidian.
Thank you!

Yes, that's really nice. And I am sure it will only get better in future versions.
Best channel on obsidian use cases!
This is very kind - and generous - of you. There are quite a few great channels around Obsidian, so that's a high bar.
Thank you. Great job!
Thank you for your kind feedback. Much appreciated.
Great ! Please how did you do to get your logo on top left frame menu ?

Thank you for a detailed demo, could you share how to access the update?
It's explained at the end of the video.
Early Access is for paying subscribers.

People use tools differently, but I absolutely don't want interentt embeds in my obsidian. I strictly use mine offline only and sync with onedrive
