Well done. Of course those in the Netherlands don’t need a helmet. Has anyone seen how crowded many of the bike lanes are. Not all, but many. If they rode any slower they would be stopped. 😂

First, pretty much all of Europe bikes and has bike lanes and bicycle infrastructure. They scoff at helmets over there.
Second, a study was done showing that auto drivers drove closest (yes, closest) to people they passed wearing helmets because they deemed those helmeted people now safe.
Third, when we crash we always bounce perfectly upon the part of our body covered by a thing which does about as much good as wearing sandals with heel strapping when jogging through the woods, for the protection of a jogger's feet.
Fourth, bicycle helmets are so well designed they somehow protect the sides of the head. Oh wait. They don't.
Fifth, there are multiple studies which show the statistical anomalies of bicycle accidents where helmets helped to save or protect lives. Sure, they're out there. But are they the norm or the outlier?
Such words as I'm about to write used to be considered common sense and didn't need to be written or uttered: If you're worried about riding bicycles such that crashing or merely falling off causes enough consternation that you fear the sport, maybe you shouldn't be riding. Or, perhaps the compromise is you sell your bicycles and ride a tricycle.
I think it's great to see seniors continuing to ride but switching to three wheelers. I wholly support them. And when that day comes for me, you can bet I'll make the switch with a grin on my wrinkled face and go enjoy the ride.

If car drivers really pass cyclists with helmet nearer I question either the study or the car drivers attitude. First that shouldn't make any difference. Second if I'm driving in my car I don't look for helmets, just for bikes. I don't care if the cyclist wears a helmet or not. That's totally irrelevant.
I am in Europe and there are lots of helmets.

Kind of stupidly ignores all of the other end of this, starting with the concept of "risk compensation". As for the old people, wouldn't they of already been though every minute of cycling as youngsters without ever wearing a bike helmet? So they know that's kind of the way it's supposed to be and should be.

I admit I could've done much better with this video. Thanks for at least watching. All comments are appreciated.

I appreciate hearing points of view about cycling, but I also think that too many people are so automatically into thinking bike helmets are some kind of a necessity in terms of safety, whereas I feel they can easily be a negative for that, and counter-productive to things as a whole. There are many aspects to this.

I agree. Like does wearing a helmet make you more reckless and not wearing one more cautious. Back in the day, I used to work the high steel and walk narrow beams without a net. Today they have nets and harnesses and I think people rely on them too much. Thanks again.@@derekjolly3680

It can and often does happen like that. People put on bike helmets, and they think golly, now I'm "protected" so I can ride like there's no danger or without the normal degree of caution. But like I was saying, that's just one part of it. People wear bike helmets either because it's forced on them with bad laws or as children, or because they're flogged with the idea of it, or over peer pressure. You look at places like the Netherlands or Holland or Denmark, and everyone rides bikes like it's the 1970s and virtually NO ONE wears bike helmets, not even young children. I think living in fear about cycling is idiotic and I don't want any part of it. It's skill and awareness that keeps one safe, not a plastic hat!
