Think what you’re saying is right. Statue collecting isn’t a necessity but a hobby. And if you have joy and love for it, awesome. However when you feel like you’re being bent over and the piss taken out of you with the pricing that will leave a sour taste. Same with going to places like New York, i dont enjoy these places because they’re too expensive. If they would lower their prices it would get more people into the hobby. Not hiking up the prices for the people that still collect .l doesn’t make sense to me. Glad you’re calling home up on it.
💯 with you J. Whether it's an unboxing, a custom display tour or a rant, it's amazing what any act of authenticity does to the community and hobby itself. I could care less on which company burns itself to the ground. It's whenever a fellow collector bounces is what hurts the most. Great video J. Pouring you another from across the pond 🍻
First time I watch one of your videos. Completely agree on the major TH-cam channels shift to TikTok style videos with little interesting content and I am now going to the smaller channels to find content I can enjoy. On the collectible/statue market, let’s be honest here, it exploded with the movies, and amplified with the covid situation. In some ways it was not real. Today is the reckoning and that is good news. There is less buyers and the market is over saturated with so many products. Retail prices are ridiculous but the second hand market has crashed, it’s a great time to buy, if you are a true collector. If you’re in to make a profit, then that’s a total mistake. There is always a better version of a character around the corner. As a side note I collect JND (and sideshow, XM, P1, customs), they are way overpriced but they are also the best in my collection and I love them. I am not pretending that there is monetary value, but I can afford them and they put a smile on my face like no other statue does. That’s value for me.
Hello there, and thank you for watching my video (I try to always create interesting and at times controversial content)! I hope you’ll enjoy some of the other vids I’ve done in the past?… And cheers for your comment and input into this topic/debate… very appreciated. And yes, the second hand profiteers need to go elsewhere, certainly for the time being, if they wish to ‘scalp’ potential buyers?… Cheers once again 👍🏻
Will certainly have a look at your videos and I am subscribing. Don’t be too upset about the hobby, enjoy what you have, retail prices will eventually get real as nobody will buy anymore.
Sometimes i also have the feeling that it’s mostly the older crowd supporting these companies because the comics/movies/tv shows are not getting the younger audience pumped to go out and buy things like statues anymore. I wonder how much shipping costs on that Balrog? Wonder if they discount and then charge 8k for shipping 😂
He’s on Facebook and has posted across most statue groups and Lord of the Rings groups… I don’t want to mention him here, as he simply uses his name and not a company name… 👍🏻
Some statues are over priced. I buy bits and pieces for my other half, but damn they do take the micky. But like you said if they can reduce something in price drastically, then it means what is the item going to be worth?
Hey Jackie! Good to hear from you!… I’m here complaining but I’m guilty of still paying for high end prices!… But what really grates is that the community itself has been so affected by all this!… Cheers matey! 😁👍🏻
Ive been preaching this for awhile now. When sideshow, Prime 1 has their sales, it like up to or even over 50% off. If they can afford to do that to move statues, how much do you think it cost to make it and how much profit are they getting. I reckon they are still making a bit of profit when they are doing their sales
I think it's slightly an exception, in that I think he probably wanted to get rid of it to free up room. But why that extreme a discount I don't know. He'll be taking a good hit I'd imagine, but it's worth it to him. I agree with the gist of what you're saying. And even if you do the maths, and a certain piece is actually worth a few thousand, it's still a few thousand, and you're pricing so many people out of the hobby. I know there are smaller cheaper pieces, 1/10 etc, but they don't appeal to the average 'statue' collector. More the type of collector that has an eclectic approach to collecting their favorite IPs. I too am amused how so many collectors haven't noticed, or are in denial of, the secondary market. Even in collector groups, where you'd think they'd know better. I bought a statue last week. Very popular character, open edition. Retailed for $650 in 2013. I got it for $375 with a Buy it Now on Ebay. It had sat there a couple of days before I took it. That was kinda cheapish, it usually auctions around $400-450. But on Facebook collector groups, the only two I could find in the last few months, they wanted $800!?! People in 2024 thinking statues are an automatic profit 😂
Hey matey - thank you for a superb reply & for your input on this topic! Yes indeed, it used to be commonplace that the majority of statues sold for reasonably good prices second hand, but I genuinely feel (& it’s certainly more the ‘old school’ way of thinking!), that there’s been little to no change there? Or that things will ‘return to normal’!!… It’s extremely rare when things do such a drastic drop that people accept a hike in price, regardless of ‘time’ being a factor… And you’ve kind of hit on the issue they’re missing here…. The human factor! Cheers matey, good to hear from you 👍🏻
Not all but with some of wetas pieces (not all) they have a preorder window and that's all they make where as most other companies have an edition size from the get go. not only does this make statues more desirable because of the low edition sizes but i think it helps with scalpers because most who want it have already purchased it.@@hauntofthecollector
10197€ thats what I have to pay if I want the p1 Terminator 2 line dx and that have not included the over 4000€ Statue with the hair...so I am out. That is rediculous...that is greed in its purest form. And I bet I will not be able to defend the price when I think I have to sell it. Even when its set lower and I will lose money.
Hey matey!.. Yeah, it’s why now I’m not buying certain pieces as I’m not paying all that money to have it sit in another room where I can’t see it properly… Only pieces now are ones that will force me to sell on something I have so it’ll have a good display spot… Good to hear from you my mate! 😁👍🏻
@@hauntofthecollector of course Matey! That was just an example. I was kinda excited about the arnie and the t1000 but that pricing ruin it for me. And maybe I would have saved a lot for them but not this much. Its getting really out of hand. The sideshow Clint Eastwood is the last piece I will po.
Hi mate! I had plans of actually stop collecting statues after I received my "Godzilla vs. Kong - Kong" statue portion of the diorama. Then I ended up PO'ing a couple of Zelda resin statues, and tomorrow I am going to pre-order The Last of Us: Joel & Ellie vs. Clicker statue by P1. I know it is not recommended to pre-order statues per date, but I can't control my impulses. I feel like I am addicted. But for real, after receving the Last of Us piece, I don't have any more space. What do you think of The Last of Us diorama statue by Prime1? Would like to hear your take on it.
Hey matey!… when it come to gaming statues in general, I honestly think that P1 are one of THE best at making them!!! I’ve PO’d Lady D - & I had NO clue who she was when I did!!! I was that blown away by the statue!! So… impulses are passion - and I’m always in favour of that, but of course, not all impulses lead to a positive (or happy?) conclusion? So, they do require some element of control! 😁👍🏻
I wouldn't touch it even at the reduced price. It's way too big. I saw a collector that purchased it, and he couldn't even get it downstairs into his display room. Had to display it upstairs where he didn't want. And I'm sure you have seen the size of the shipping crates this thing comes in. They are monstrous. I couldn't even imagine what the shipping charges would be for those. Where would you store them? Who would pay the shipping cost for those crates in the future if you were to try and sell it. Sorry, but in my opinion, everything about this piece is a no. As a collector, I'm tired of these huge costly to buy and costly to ship pieces. I'm done with it. It's 1/4 and smaller for me now, I just don't the funds for these anymore. Thanks for the video, Cheers
@@hauntofthecollector The old days seem to be over, it's a real shame it's hard times for many collectors who have to prioritise like food, rent etc. I hope the good old days come back when people can afford statues and shows us their statues etc.
The scale and price of that particular statue were just all wrong, there’s not the market for it. I don’t think the situation in the hobby is quite as bad as you paint it. All hobbies are the same if you are in them long enough. The current group of collectors get everything g they want, and move away, new Collector’s come forward. It’s all cyclical. It will bounce back
Hey matey! Yeah, maybe?… (I did go off on one a bit here!…) 😁 But, the groups are REALLY stagnant and I just don’t seem to get the content from other statue TH-camrs that I used to get and enjoy watching?…. Feels like so much has changed?… Cheers matey, good to hear from you 👍🏻
And if anyone thinks this, they are depressed 😂. Everything you said was a fact. I think the only people that got mad at this video are the people that paid 10k and are defending their purchase decision. There’s also plenty of competition. Ex., prime 1 and JND Geralts. One of them is 2k and the other is 1k. There’s definitely options at some scales and lines but I tend to think there is no fucking way that 40lbs of resin and a quarter of a tit of silicon is 2k. It’s greed but people are buying them which enables these companies. All the power to the people willing to pay that much but the value is not there Resell value is trashed. The resell value on most items is what I’m willing to pay. I think ignorant optimism is a way that people confide in their Purchases. I’m guilty of it myself Nice rant 😂!

Collecting, working out, work/family (sort of a hobby to be honest) and other stuff - for me its Omega watches and perfumes in addition to statue collecting. For timeperiods I tend to focus on one collecting hobby, and leave the others. Helps to keep it fresh to circulate the intrest.
im the opposite, I don't really want to sit and chat as much anymore, but I still enjoy unboxings and reviews and that's all I do these days. We had the most fun and laughs for sure, those were great fun times and, all shits and giggles, a lot laughter, good memories matey, good memories. The market has changed all of it, profit nada, be lucky if you even get more than 50% for anything
Totally agree my mate! Some collectors seem to believe it’s like it was pre Covid? There’s no profit now in the second hand market!.. It’s just gone - saturation has also added to this!…
We need to jump on a live again soon mate? Be great to have a laugh with you again buddy 👍🏻
@@hauntofthecollector yea matey we should plan something soon, been a while and we had the best laughs ha ha
@@PainCollectibles we will have to jump on one of Chasens matey?… 👍🏻
@@hauntofthecollector yea thats a good idea
Think what you’re saying is right.
Statue collecting isn’t a necessity but a hobby. And if you have joy and love for it, awesome.
However when you feel like you’re being bent over and the piss taken out of you with the pricing that will leave a sour taste.
Same with going to places like New York, i dont enjoy these places because they’re too expensive.
If they would lower their prices it would get more people into the hobby. Not hiking up the prices for the people that still collect
.l doesn’t make sense to me. Glad you’re calling home up on it.
Hey matey - thank you for your comment and input dude 👍🏻
💯 with you J. Whether it's an unboxing, a custom display tour or a rant, it's amazing what any act of authenticity does to the community and hobby itself.
I could care less on which company burns itself to the ground. It's whenever a fellow collector bounces is what hurts the most.
Great video J. Pouring you another from across the pond 🍻
Hey matey! Cheers so much & as always, very appreciated my mate 👍🏻
I hope you’ll enjoy some of the other vids I’ve done in the past?…
And cheers for your comment and input into this topic/debate… very appreciated.
And yes, the second hand profiteers need to go elsewhere, certainly for the time being, if they wish to ‘scalp’ potential buyers?…
Cheers once again 👍🏻
Will certainly have a look at your videos and I am subscribing. Don’t be too upset about the hobby, enjoy what you have, retail prices will eventually get real as nobody will buy anymore.
@@ma9ical1 thank you matey & really appreciate the sub! 👍🏻
Honest commentary, thanks!
Thank you matey, appreciate your comment 👍🏻
Sometimes i also have the feeling that it’s mostly the older crowd supporting these companies because the comics/movies/tv shows are not getting the younger audience pumped to go out and buy things like statues anymore.
I wonder how much shipping costs on that Balrog? Wonder if they discount and then charge 8k for shipping 😂
Hey matey - I’ve no idea? But going from what I’ve paid on vastly smaller pieces, I shudder to think what people have been charged??…
Cheers matey 👍🏻
Nice you got Sylvannas on pre order.
Yes mate, I have… along with the 1:1 Witch-king! Those will be 2 awesome unboxings!! 😁👍🏻
@@hauntofthecollector I'm very surprised you didn't change one of those two for the Queen Arnild bust. Was that not your thing? Terminator
@@CaBdosdos not really mate… and it’s more I’m really happy with my 1:2 T-800 and not so bothered about chasing after more Terminator?…
Nice video and info as always, could you tell me please what European seller is selling it for that price?
He’s on Facebook and has posted across most statue groups and Lord of the Rings groups… I don’t want to mention him here, as he simply uses his name and not a company name… 👍🏻
Some statues are over priced. I buy bits and pieces for my other half, but damn they do take the micky. But like you said if they can reduce something in price drastically, then it means what is the item going to be worth?
Hey Jackie! Good to hear from you!… I’m here complaining but I’m guilty of still paying for high end prices!… But what really grates is that the community itself has been so affected by all this!…
Cheers matey! 😁👍🏻
@@hauntofthecollector yeh any time indeed... You take care mate 👍
@@jgscatsandthings5208 thanks Jackie, you also my dear 😁👍🏻
Ive been preaching this for awhile now. When sideshow, Prime 1 has their sales, it like up to or even over 50% off. If they can afford to do that to move statues, how much do you think it cost to make it and how much profit are they getting. I reckon they are still making a bit of profit when they are doing their sales
Yes mate, of course they are… and this also goes to highlight just what huge profit margins these statues have!!…
I think it's slightly an exception, in that I think he probably wanted to get rid of it to free up room.
Or that things will ‘return to normal’!!…
It’s extremely rare when things do such a drastic drop that people accept a hike in price, regardless of ‘time’ being a factor…
And you’ve kind of hit on the issue they’re missing here…. The human factor!
Cheers matey, good to hear from you 👍🏻
Maybe companies need to take a page out of Weta workshops book and do made to order.
Well…. That’s kind of what happens with PO’s really?… They make a ‘few’ more over the PO size?… 👍🏻
Yeah, it’s why now I’m not buying certain pieces as I’m not paying all that money to have it sit in another room where I can’t see it properly…
Only pieces now are ones that will force me to sell on something I have so it’ll have a good display spot…
Good to hear from you my mate!
@@kaicollectibles yeah I thought you’d be going for that one my mate.. 👍🏻
Thanks for the video,
Cheers
Hey matey - thanks for the comment and really appreciate your input into this topic matey 👍🏻

You’re a good un my mate!! 😁👍🏻
You would have sold your little Balrog and taken advantage of the discount instead
Hmmm?… maybe not mate, as the Polda would never fit through my door!…
….if it did?!…. Hmmmm? 😉😁👍🏻
It's just too big, not to mention the packaging, even rich people don't want to store such large packages.
Hey matey - very true! Logistical nightmare - it’ll be the same with T-Rex they’ve done!..
Super rich need only apply?… 😁
Cheers buddy 👍🏻
@@hauntofthecollector The old days seem to be over, it's a real shame it's hard times for many collectors who have to prioritise like food, rent etc. I hope the good old days come back when people can afford statues and shows us their statues etc.
@@ahapalbin5349 so do I my mate!! I really do miss the old days, pre Covid!
It will bounce back
Hey matey! Yeah, maybe?… (I did go off on one a bit here!…) 😁
But, the groups are REALLY stagnant and I just don’t seem to get the content from other statue TH-camrs that I used to get and enjoy watching?…. Feels like so much has changed?…
Cheers matey, good to hear from you 👍🏻
And if anyone thinks this, they are depressed 😂.
All the power to the people willing to pay that much but the value is not there
Resell value is trashed. The resell value on most items is what I’m willing to pay. I think ignorant optimism is a way that people confide in their Purchases. I’m guilty of it myself
Nice rant 😂!
Haha, thanks matey! Great to hear from you & also get your input on this!.. 😁👍🏻
$10k for a statue?! Gtfoh!
And that’s not even the most expensive out there!!…
Does anybody want to purchase the Cina edition from me?
