  • Another solid week of training in the bag, going faster a couple of times and keeping everything else easy seems to have been a good shout.
    A good 5k TT let me see where my pace and speed is, and it's slightly better than I thought. Work to do if I want to dip below 20:37 for a PB during this block!

    It's awesome to have another running with Andy series! It'll be a tough one to get under 1:36 but if there's one person that deserves breaking it, it's you with all your running discipline.
    I'll probably be aiming for sub 1h35 but in spring 2024

    I really like switching up distances too, I've got all the PBs between 100m & 10k. Summer is a good time for short & middle distance stuff.

    Dialing back the volume sounds like the right call for our running level. 45-50k is what got me where I am now, even without speed sessions which I will introduce in this block.

    • @itsonandy
      @itsonandy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sounds good. I'm looking forward to seeing the results, for good or bad. I think a reduced volume will suit me perfectly!

    Might do Worcester Half too. Going for a PB at Cheltenham Half on 3rd. Worcester could be back up if it goes wrong!

      Thanks Mack - hugely appreciate that 🙏🏻 It looks like a dull summer doesn't it, first two weeks of August don't look much better. Not that I'm complaining as I really struggle to train in 25°c +!

      Sure do Marcus! It's not too bad of a distance to do speed work is it! Better than 8x1km anyway...

    A long run depends on what your training for, at the moment I’m in a 10K training block so 9 miles is a long run but when I’m marathon training then anything over half marathon distance for me is a long run.

    • @itsonandy
      @itsonandy  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's the beauty of it, the long run is totally relative to everyone and every target 👊🏻

  • @Ligerpride
    @Ligerpride ปีที่แล้ว

    I'd say a long run is something that represents around 25% of your total weekly volume on average. This goes if you're running at least 5 days a week.
    If you're running 4 days or less then it's maybe 40% of your weekly average.

    17 miles - long run. 22 miles if training for a marathon PB.

    • @itsonandy
      @itsonandy  ปีที่แล้ว

      Good numbers, I never did more than 20 in marathon training, I will try next block!

  • @davenapier
    @davenapier ปีที่แล้ว

    Long run is just your longest run of the week. It is all relative to your particular fitness and what you are training for and where in the block your are at. I personally don’t have a minimum that I would call a long run even though at the moment I am approaching the end of my block and doing 3+ hour longs runs.
    Also, I think I must have missed it but why is the series called finding 4:17. I know you are targeting a 1:36 half but I have no idea where the 4:17 sits. I assume this is a kilometre pace but not sure how that relates to things you are training for.

    • @marcusgrainger3329
      @marcusgrainger3329 ปีที่แล้ว +1
