I think it became abundantly clear even before Mr. Honey's appearance that none of these characters are mentally stable or sympathetic. These "fantasy" episodes just go to show that the writers don't have enough material to write genuine stories. And what is truly disturbing is that for people who have some knowledge of Riverdale's previous seasons and the batshit buffoonery that goes on in this Scream-meets-Happy-Days nightmare, it doesn't seem out-of-place that the main characters would arbitrarily decide to murder their principal.
