I am buying this exact car in blue candy with the same trim and rims but with a 5 speed manual transmission and I'm so excited. To my knowledge there aren't that many Titanium manuals around. Do you have any advice?
I bought my 2012 Ford Focus brand new (in August of 2011). While it is a comfortable drive, I have experienced a number of transmission problems. Having a automatic transmission with an internal manual shift is a very bad idea. After the transmission "update" to fix the jerking I experienced when backing up the first time, my miles/gallon immediately dropped from 54 to 42 and is now down to about 27. It has been a costly car to maintain as the parts are cheaply made and break easily. My first experience was when I tried to change the battery (which is a bit inconveniently placed I might add). The bolts that hold it down were shaped like anchors and snapped in two when I attempted to remove them (I replaced them with regular bolts and have had no problem since though.). Recently I tried to change a radiator hose and accidentally snapped the line leading to my coolant temp sensor in the process. It appears to me that the top priority for Ford when making this car was to ensure that their mechanics would get a lot of work. The main bright spot was the aforementioned comfortable seats along with a well-designed interior and chassis body. All things considered, the negatives outweigh the positives....especially considering the fact that my end cost was $28K.
@Ryan Trott I am glad your experiences weren't as bad.....but I have to be honest with my review. Admittedly I should not have bought the car straight off the assembly line but the dealership made things worse. I should never have allowed the salesman to coerce me into turning the radio up and taking a short test drive on flat roads. It seems obvious to me that his intent was to keep me from hearing the engine and avoid having me find out that the car initially struggled to get up hills. While this was corrected with the transmission update, the fuel efficiency (as mentioned before) dropped precipitously. If I ever decide to set foot on the property of a Ford dealership, it will only be because I have extra time to spend. The next time a salesman asks me to turn the radio up, I intend to pop in a fire and brimstone church sermon regarding the evils of dishonesty. Let's see how long that test drive lasts! LOL
The big problem with the Getrag DCT is that small problems cause severe symptoms. Often a transmission that seems to be completely screwed needs only a half hour work and zero parts to completely fix it. The clutch actuators get sticky with clutch dust. Removing the actuator motors and operating the actuators with a cordless driver while spraying with brake cleaner will often bring it back to operating like new. 10 minutes and a couple of dollars worth of brake cleaner. Transmission places would quote thousands and would often replace expensive parts such as the transmission control module (about $3000) and not fix the real problem.
Found a titanium model for $5000 CAD on craigslist. And it’s in excellent condition. I’m debating between this and an 08 Honda Accord Ex-L v6.

Good video. Future review on the 5 speed Manual Transmission?
If I can get my hands on one, I will.
nice car
The transmission was garbage in 2012 and still is today.
Calm down. Ford has extended the Warranty on Fiestas and Focus an extra 5 years from end of Factory Warranty for that very issue.
