I need their parents to do an interview or something because their mom was the one who signed them up for like their first time singing together on a stage. Chloe x Halle talked in interviews how they basically learned everything off of TH-cam and their parents made them self teach themselves how to play instruments (piano and guitar) like their voices are amazing and they’re classically trained. Like of course people say that Chloe has a similar sounding voice to Beyoncé but other than that nobody sounds like them, especially Halle. Not to get all religious but I HONESTLY think one of the things that got them sounding like this is the fact that they also grew up singing in Church. All of the greatest R&B artists grew up singing in Church and then a lot of the R&B girls nowadays haven’t and you can hear the clear distinguishing in those who have and have not

Totally agree; Gospel&church is a major part of many musicians introduction to singing. (And very commonly a major part in famous Black musicians childhood, in general.) Singers like Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross, Carrie Underwood, Beyonce, Yebba, Jazmine sullivan, Fantasia, Usher, Jamie Foxx, and JHud, if I'm not mistaken, all have church upbringings.

I went to high school and college with their Mother. She's the Marketing Genius!! Their parents are visionaries and realized they were super stars very early and cultivated their natural talents, gifts and abilities. They helped them hone their strengths and utilize any weaknesses for their greater good. That angelic thing comes from Courtney....their Mom. She was like that even in the 80's. Soooo amazing watching my friends kids grow up to be legit Super Stars!! I really love that you LOVE Them!

Also can you make a video on Halle’s vocal evolution because her voice from her younger days sounds COMPLETELY different from then to now. And what may be the reasons why it has changed like that? Or is it just puberty and vocal lessons ? Like her voice is sooo unique.

    • @jujubee6030

  • @LesageSinging

Important note here. They did covers/shows to build an audience for 6-7 years prior to doing an album.
Edit: this video is effectively a react to a video tracking Halle's vocal development. I discuss both singers here because Chloe 💯 did the work as well. The absence of footage from her doesn't take away from the fact that both of these girls literally put themselves out there for 12 years.

I really enjoy your videos, but I must admit that I do forget to "Like" them. I'm going to do my best to remember from now on though. (And if you're interested in helping me - and many others, I'm sure - mentioning it at the very end of your videos would do so.)
On another note, your extensive knowledge of vocal technique (or actually, just music, in general) isn't only recognized and appreciated, but from what I've found, second to none on this platform. Yet there is one thing that you've pretty consistently gotten incorrect. And you can probably guess what it is. Yep, you guessed it. It's the pronunciation of Halle's name! Just try to remember, it's not like the Christmas plant, Holly - but just like the male name, Hal, plus the long "e" sound at the end of course. That's how I remember it, so I thought maybe it'd work for you too. Anyhow, that's all I have to say at the moment...gonna get back to your video list and see what else I can learn.

I think I can do it on SZA if I take a few. Dunno about Rihanna because social media marketing is primarily where my strength lies and I don't know if I can speak to how Rihanna came up prior to the rise of socials.
I'll give it a look see though.
Edit: looks like SZA's connection got her in with a label that did well by her. Seems like her 2014 albums were pushed using an influencer campaign making cameos.
There is definitely a lesson here. Networking and being good to people helps you grow. Endorsements mean something. I'll give it more of a look. I'm sure each album had its own strategy.

      @LesageSinging  3 ปีที่แล้ว +19

4+ million monthly listeners on Spotify, a movie deal with DISNEY, signed by Beyoncé and regular spots on prime time television isn't commercially big? What is your bench mark?
For context, Harris Heller is a creator with his own label and his 200k monthly listeners give him $150k a month. His label is diversified across other platforms, but so are Chloe x Halle and far more so than he.
If that's not big, and more than "social media hype" then I don't know what is. Does someone have to be as successful as Beyonce to impress you?
Also, social media hype IS commercial hype. More people have watched Chloe x Halle's videos in the last MONTH than watched the super bowl in 2020. Their "social media hype" is, in one month, bigger than the single biggest marketing event of the year.
I think you're objectively wrong here.

I think you are a total hater. They have been marketing themselves (or rather their parents) since you see at 8 years old locally, but at 11 and 13 uploading TH-cam videos. If we had parents that videoed us, invested in learning music, vocal coaches, and countless hours practicing, and now learning how to incorporate dancing with the vocals, it's hard. When was the last time you tried. You can't achieve what they have so you are spending 30 minutes bringing it down. They didn't go to junior high school or high school. Yeah, you do give them a couple of kudos, but these girls, like Beyoncé have spent a life time devoted to their craft. How many instruments do you play. These girls, write, sing, drop their own tracks, and record at their studio. How many tracks have you recorded. They only pay for distribution. Beyoncé found THEM and signed them. So give them creds and keep it moving.
