Hey Dan and Gary, speaking of Shipwrecks of Virginia and the Billy Mitchell wrecks and being narc'd, I was talking to Mike Barnette about the story where Dean Hawes thought he might have found the USS Cyclops, and the coordinates are pretty close to the Meridia and Ethel C. Mike thinks that Dean was mistaken and was on one of the Billy Mitchell wrecks, which might kind of look like the USS Washington from a certain angle and when you're narc'd. I just wanted to see what you thought. My dad got me into diving when he did it in the 80's and 90's from the Wahoo. He knew a few of those folks, and he dove the Almirante, the quarry out near Lancaster with the planes, boats and bus, and the San Diego, along with Texas Tower 4. He was training for the Doria but had to give it up, not enough time and money and too dangerous for a family man. He lost his weight belt and almost died on the San Diego. He gave me your first Doria book signed by you Gary, and a 30-06 bullet from the San Diego and what was left of his dive gear, including a wreck reel and depth gauge he used on the Texas Tower 4, which was analog, it has some kind of liquid and a bubble and a dial that went around and only went to about 200 ft or so. It was luminescent and on a rubber strap that devraded over the years. I'm still hoping to get into wreck diving but it's so expensive and there's not enough time or money to do it, and I am married too. Plus I'm in landlocked west central PA, not many local dive shops or instrctors, and the gear, training and expeditions are so expensive and time consuming. I was born too late, and into the wrong family and career, lol. Thanks for the stories, please keep them coming!
Read most of his books back a while , great resource especially in the early days

Yeah they can grab onto the tag line if it is deployed in the first place or not pulled up to go fishing 🤣
What an insane captain.
