Megan Gwynn aka Pixie is the newest character to be added to Marvel Snap. But what's her deal? Why is her hair pink? And why does she have one of the wildest cards in the game?

Way I see it, this ability works for Pixie because she's a group teleporter and is used to get her powerful squad mates into the action. This ability lets her get some stronger cards out quicker and in large quantities.

Because I've never been able to read comics, this series is an excellent intro to the characters I've missed out on!
Pixie was in Wolverine and The X-Men, the episode Nightcrawler meets a ship full of mutants heading to Genosha, being Shanghaied and round up by Spiral, and one of the main characters that story, was her.
Pixie has made cameos in both Wolverine and the Xmen cartoon and Xmen 97 XD

Blink technically predates Age of Apocalypse, she was part of the "premiere" of the Gen X crew, but died almost immediately and never actually did much. It was then when AoA came around that they gave her actual character, and that's the version that stuck around. The original eventually came back as a zombie. Blink was one of my favorites back in the day.
I love Pixie, she’s my most underrated X-Men character and I hope she gets a live action adaption someday
One thing I like but atthe same time dislike about Pixie is how they use her character since she's such a fun loving, light hearted, caring character. They often write her as a powered character who beca e a victim and had to go through trauma to find herself and get stronger. It happens with Magik where part of her soul is ripped out of her without consent causing massive trauma for Pixie and it also happens when she's on her way back home from a Dazzler concert and she's beaten severely and wings torn apart by mutant haters causing trauma again. I forget if these were happening concurrently. I like the character growth and the stories are obviously referencing the trauma that victims of assault go through and to not blame the victim, I remember the assault story had strong tones of humans saying "she was asking for it" because she was walking down the road with her wings showing and not hiding it. I hate that she's such an easy target for writers to use for these stories and hope they are done with doing that to her. It was just tough seeing her put through the wringer since she was one of the mutants who kept their powers but wasn't a strong fighter.
I think the experience with the assault was supposed to explain her becoming more violent with her soul dagger also. I know Illyana and Megan are never going to be friends but sucks Darkchyld had to f it up so badly for any future remote possibility of friendship between the two.
I'd have loved it: On Reveal: Next turn, all cards you play become 0-power unicorns. End of game: Replace your unicorns with cards from your deck. Boom. Illusions. Unicorns. Teleportation. Cost shenanigans. All in one.
Pixie got added to the Academy X version of New X-Men right as the book got canceled and editorial downsized how many X-Books were going on. She officially joined in the second to last one (Rockslide decided after Limbo to bat for her and Anole).
She's one of my favorites and mostly because of that limbo arc.
I love how I have never read the comics, but I already knew a lot about Pixie because I love learning about niche characters and when I first saw her I was IN LOVE with her vibe.

Been loving Pixie so far. I built an older style High Evo deck (you know the one that runs abomination, and likes to reduce the opponents power?) as Wasp has synergy with this.
Been working incredibly well so far. I had a game that let me play Hulk, She Hulk and Abomination on T6, and still had energy left over to zap stuff with Cyclops.
What makes the deck work so well is that Shulk and Abom can have their cost lowered anyway, so if you land even a couple of points less on them, you can get them both out on T6 for free, and then still play Hulk. Then if Hulk also is discounted, can be crazy. I've actually had a T6 where all 3 of them cost Zero, and I got an extra 7 power on Sunspot (also uses Hope Summers)
This works with just one, zero cost (although it's a huge high roll, pixie is there as a wild card, back up anyway) so if you land the zero on Hulk, and then reduce the base cost of Shulk/Abom to even like 3 or 4, it becomes very easy to pass enough energy so she hulk is free, and affect enough of the opponents cards with a minus to get out Abom for free.
I feel this style of deck is being slept on, in favour of the more standard shulknaut style version. I get infinaut is massive, but you have to still skip an entire turn to play it. I'm waiting for Warmachine before I do a new deck with Infinaut.

That's what I think too. But given that she's still pretty minor and it's not actually reality bending, I wonder if it would've been more appropriate for her card to change costs FOR ONE TURN. and since it's used offensively (or at least not defensively) in the comics, from what it sounds like, if (again, FOR ONE TURN) she CHANGES ENEMY COSTS).
(Sorry, Not yelling, just wanted to differentiate the changes, amidst my text dump)
She makes illusions, so when you play a strong card like Galactus it’s actually just a trick. Like when you’re fighting Scarecrow in the Arkham or Injustice games.

00:46 It might vary by region, but in Welsh it's more like Meg (the Meg in MEGatron) and An, like Anne Hathaway (or rhyme with Pan).
I didn't realise till Pixie that welsh Megan isn't intuitive to people.
I was thinking she was casting an illusion over the cards to change the cost, similar to how Loki and Mirage represent illusions by messing with the stats

One of my favorite jokes with her, and showcasing how "evil" she was made by the soul damage, was when Pixie teleported herself to Wales to legally get drunk before porting back shit faced to the X-mansion.😅😂
And to explain her high card stats, just look at her mom's side of the family.

My first encounter with Pixie was in the video game X-Men Destiny. I don't remember much about her role in the game other than she is really friendly and nice to the player character up until she dies about halfway through the game
Pixie kinda works with Hooe in the fact that both help you play higher cost cards sooner with Hope is more straightforward and with Pixie is more like a gamble but I see why they put them both out in the same day

Pixie has always reminded me of a Dani Moonstar / Blink combo. Dani has the illusions and psychic weapon and also underwent a magical realm power up. And yeah pixie now just being a teleporter is like Blink and is okay on kid teams but always seems weird when she's on the adult teams
Pair her with Mobius and I can see some interesting stuff happening, definitely curious to play around with her a bit.
What she should do is "On reveal: remove ongoing effects of your opponent's characters at this location."
Or "on reveal: plays a card from your deck that could have been played this turn"
Glad we’re getting more of the New Mutants, although I personally haven’t read much of the stories they show up in, I thought they were so cool, especially Mercury who is the X-men I most want to see in the MCU, because she just has a simple cool power that hasn’t been in a comic book movie in a good while

For me, the Academy X girl I would love to see appear, thanks to Miss Marvel, is Dust. Followed by Beak, Angel Salvador, Ernst, prodigy and Martha.
The generation you’re thinking of is Grant Morrison’s New X men. However, as they’re more focused on the “special class”, they run concurrent with Academy x.
Academy X; a nightmare of a book. You push through for prodigy and Dust.

As for Pixies snap power it would make more sense for a reality warper or someone with a power like Desert Ghost (Xmen 2099) who has the dual power one hand heals one hand hurts.

I like Pixie but I feel like she gets very overshadowwd by Magik. She's already tied to Magik storywise, and Magik does magic and teleportation better. I think it'll be hard for her to move past that into something bigger.
Clearly her pixie dust has a compound similar to Lysergic acid diethylamide in it.

I am.fairly certain the generation between Gen X and Academy X is technically the kids from the Morrison run like the Cuckoos and Quire
Although the New X men kids float into Academy X.
You just don’t see many of them at first because the first half of Academy X is with the more human looking characters.
And the Pedo love triangle.
And Surge being a bully towards Dust.

This card confuses me so much and I keep playing in the proving grounds just to see if I can encounter a deck that uses it so I can learn from the others also flying blind.

Honestly, I feel sorry for Pixie.
Mastermind is known for having a lot of children. It’s just that he keeps using illusions to seduce women… so that’s dubious consent.
And it’s sad for Pixie because she thought her dad was the man who raised her who died in the mines.
Which also means that she’s found out that she’s the half sister of the Ladies Mastermind. Two of the dumbest x men villains. I think the Podcast Cerebro described them as the C-Destroyers of X men.
Also, Pixie’s first teacher in Academy X was Wolfsbane. Then, when Wolfsbane got fired for getting it on with a student, the second teacher was Magma.

I think she was in a cartoon though... I think X-Men Evolution, but maybe Wolverine and the Xmen as well... I can't remember. They are all relatively blink and you miss them cameos (Though I think in the cartoons she was a background character)

No. That was Angel Salvador. Salvador has the wings but has the internal anatomy of a fly.
And… that depiction is a little gross. Because they turned the Afro-Latin teenager into a Latin stripper. She got the Sunspot treatment.
In the comics, Salvador hooked up with Beak and, because of the fly anatomy, had a 5 day pregnancy where she had a bunch of kids.
They’re a surprisingly cute couple.
