I prefer to use Durex Pleasure me latex grips. The ribs really give you a nice grip and it’s thin so you get a lot of feel.

Thanks again for a very comprehensive review of pallets, grips and over grips. It is very much a personal preference, and for the first time in over 50 years of playing tennis, I am just starting to experiment with grip sizes and textures thanks to you. I should have done this decades ago. I went from using size 4 in the 1970-90's decades (leather with absorbent cloth overgrips), down to size 3 in the 2000's. I am now going back to size 4 for a more relaxed grip and arm relief, and I'm starting to like HEAD Hydrosorb pro grips without a cover. Thanks for prompting me to start experimenting again, but with the knowledge from several of your videos.

    1. Yonex syn leather NS (grey color).
    2. Head Hydrosorb Pro or Tour.
    Over grips:
    1. Karakal Super grip.
    Leather grips:
    1. Tennis warehouse leather grips
    2. Head finest calfskin
    3. Prince Calfskin.

As someone who learned to play the game from 1979 when everything was wooden racquets and big leather-gripped handles, I’ve never understood the hardcore leather grip users (who also appear to be online forum fanatics). Don’t believe the nonsense claim that leather grips get tackier when wet - that’s only when they’re new and have the nice nap on them. They get progressively harder, thinner and slipperier in short time. If leather was that great, Tourna-Grip would never have made their millions of dollars in the 80’s. Also, the tournaments wouldn’t have needed to put all those chalk and sawdust boxes courtside for the pro’s during tournaments.

When i buy a racket i remove the base grip it comes with and add a leather grip, this makes the bevels basically feel the same as they do without the grip because the leather molds, then i add a wilson pro overgrip and it makes it a very bevely over grip. As a one handed backhand player and a eastern gripper this is very nice.

I see pictures of a few Pro Players in the 1970's and 1980's using tape over the leather grip then what looks like I am guessing using some kind of clay, chalk, soil/dirt, then for both brushing off excess and working in rest with water preferably something like a fully damp paper towel or a rag to remove that sticky feeling. I did this in one layer 1/4 overlapping spiral after overlapping on the top plastic part (using older aluminum) and gluing bottom end after seeing some pros tape ends coming undone, going with a waterproof super glue (sweat) over the stock grip which vinyl was peeling.

My favorite replacement grip was from Volkl and was called Volkl V-Suede. They stopped making it much to my disappointment. I asked Volkl about this and they said they stopped production of this grip because it was a slow seller. This surprises me because it was such a great grip. This was an amazing grip. I've tried many grips and grip setups and found a setup that's perfect for me (disclaimer: I'm *not* sponsored nor do I get kickbacks). I favor the Head type more rectangular grip shape, L3, and use a very thin Kimony leather grip with the Wilson Pro overgrip. I also use a couple GripYOU rubber rings on the grip under the overgrip to help me find my forehand and backhand grip positions (they help a lot with grip slippage).

Was using synthetic replacement grips (with no overgrip). I have just started using Wilson overgrips on top of leather grips. Don't know what brand leather grip is on there. But I suspect that regardless of the brand of leather grip, the differences will be minor. i.e. it will mainly have the Wilson overgrip feeling regardless of what brand leather grip is underneath... I am not that picky and sensitive to the difference. Would you agree?

In my experience, Wilson pro is a decent standard all around but the Yonex wins in the tackiness department for me. Also, the Yonex lasts longer for me as well. Meaning I can use the same grip for weeks on end even when most of the initial tack has worn down. Haven't tried any from T-fibre

I have been told that Yonex have increased the Size of their Grips like the G2 is equivalent to a g3 in other brands like head and Wilson. Do you know if this is true? But if it actually true to size and is smaller would you recommend applying two over grips?
