- Sondra “Blinky”Williams is an American R&B and soul singer-songwriter, probably best known for singing the female lead on the theme for the 1970s TV series, Good Times. She is a LIVING legend! Here she is on Playboy After Dark, 1970 singing a classic song from Billie Holiday “GOD BLESS THE CHILD”. I think Blinky and Clara Ward’s arrangements are my favorite.

This is incredible rendition by Blinky….I saw her sing this live at The Apollo Theater several times.
She also sang this at The Summer of Soul in Harlem.

Never heard of this singer before. She is very good. Every one can't sing Billie and do it justice.
Blinky "Sondra" Williams collaborated & recorded with Andrae Crouch early in his career in a group called The Cogics. She signed to Motown in the mid 60s and had a hit with the excellent song 'I Wouldn't Change The Man He Is', written by a very young Ashford & Simpson. She went on to tour with Sammy Davis Jr. for several years as his opening act. But most people know Miss Williams as the female voice singing the theme to the sitcom "Good Times". And for the record she has even better versions of 'God Bless The Child' uploaded here on TH-cam. A talented lady that should have had lots of recording success.
