Hands down my favorite BNL song. This is just an amazing song and without Steve their best songs are missing from any live performances. What a powerful and emotionally charged song.
So true. I love BNL but jump around from band to band and this is the first time I have heard this song in years and time really does change ones perspective.
So sick of people like you bragging on youtube about how you can relate to a song now that you didn't used to be able to. Some of us will never have anyone, but you don't care about that. You're selfish.
This song is so unique in that in builds up to the final vocal catharsis instead of giving it away early on. Songs that adjust their forms and emotional states add an extra layer of identification between the listener and the singer.
Today I thought about this song and listened to it for the entire day. I cannot believe it only has 300k views. I can't believe this wasn't even their top 5 hits.
Such a sad song. I listened to this a lot when my ex and I split in 2010. We shared a child and we had to manouver an amicable relationship after a betrayal for the sake of our son. This is the first time I’ve listen to it in a very long time and can happily say that we now are friends and have both moved on. Painful process that this song spoke to (at least to me).
Nobody cares. I'm sick of overdramatic people like you who live their lives like it's a goddamn dramatic series or something. Someone like me isn't even allowed to look at a woman. Do you understand that? I'm not even allowed to LOOK at a woman or even entertain the thought of ever having a relationship, but then I have to see all the disgusting overprivileged people like you whose entire life revolves around f***ing relationships and the overdramatic bullshit of them, acting like you're in a goddamn soap opera all the time, and like the entire world revolves around your need to just have someone to rub genitals with, when people like me will never even know what that's like and have to struggle just to keep our sanity. I hate you.
Those songs you listen to during those difficult "times" in your life? my parents were divorcing when I was 10 and I had no friends or siblings or people to talk to or share my burden. Then came music. I would hide and cry and wish my parents could call and answer each other, it's a great song by itself, but my life has a special relationship with this song that is super powerful
What an underrated band!! These lyrics are just amazing. As good as anything. I never paid attention, didn´t know they could write like this. Thumbs up.
One of the best music videos ever. I love in Barelaked Nadies how the commentary says they called Volkswagon and they were like, we're not having a hard time selling them, so we're not giving you money. Or something like that. really hysterical.
Woof! I'm from the 60's and that song is intense! The message is to be honest with each other and talk about what's going on in your heads. I first heard it on a tape I found of no name. I loved the lyrics, so i looked it up online. and it's been a fav for --EVER! rebuild yall!
I first heard this song in '99 or 2000 and I've loved it so much ever since. it hits you in so many different emotions. I couldn't listen to this song enough
It's so weird that this song hadn't even been released until I was halfway through college (or later!), but everytime I hear these guys sing I'm a Junior in high school all over again...
I was introduced to this song by a certain someone . I fell in love with the song. It pulled my heart strings. So you KNOW who you are !! Thank you !! xoxox
I agree, listen to The Mavericks and Raul Malo. Crazy talented voice as well. If you ever read this and haven't experienced yet experienced Mr. Malo, you will be glad I found this song and replied to you 7 years after your post. If you have already enjoyed the range of Raul, well then you're already the coolest...
Such a timeless song. That said, I would love to have heard the phone call that WB Records made to Volkswagen. "Yes we need fifty identical white beetles."
Just as there are multiple appearances of the same people in this video, methinks there were just a few Volkswagen Beetles harmed in the making of this video. As for the neighborhood, places like this do really exist in the Southwestern USA.
yes yes yes yes yes, however it would never be the same as before. I like Steve's solo work, but there's just enough difference in it that I think there could be a bigger rift. I like a bunch of their post-Steve work over the last 10 years, but it's never been the same. BNL just started a Tik-Tok channel and Ed has been giving some background on some songs and is having some open and healthy discussion/description on things that Steve worked on with them. it seems that there may finally be some piece on his side of things.
This song perfectly encapsulates my first -- and failed -- marriage. Right down to lines like "you only think about me when we're both in the same room" and "play the game of who loves more than whom" -- both of which were almost exact quotes by my ex.
I used to love this song and had an extremely bad breakup that haunting me for years. I could never listen to this song because it brought up horrible memories and was just to hard on head. Randomly the person reached out to me and made things right and give me closure. I listen to this song that night, I know this song is dark but it felt good to listen to it again
I'm still not over a breakup that happened to me 23 years ago. And get this: It was an online relationship. I never met her in person. Only talked to her on the phone. That makes it even worse. I've been destroyed since then and will never have anyone. She doesn't even remember that I exist now.
+tizek absolutely one of the best ballads reminds me of the hope that I can also rebuild on a side note was this on the soundtrack for ED TV since the movie clips are in the vid!? ENJOY THE EVENING!!
In one of my acting classes in college, we were challenged to find a song under five minutes that we could mouth the words to and have it lead to a breakdown. I should've chosen this one, because it's fucking perfect.
I love BNL so much! I love when you go through an ordeal and then hear a song you can relate to so much that it feels like you wrote and are singing it. It makes me wonder what kind of relationship the singer went through though. Sounds like it was rough. :(
i always thought this band wrote way to many pointless, ridiculous songs but when i hear something like this it makes me wonder what kind of potential they truly could have hit. Great song!
One of the best music video ever. I love in Barelaked Nadies how the commentary says they called Volkswagon and they were like, we're not having a hard time selling them, so we're not giving you money. Or something like that. really hysterical.
MISS having their TEAM APPROACH with Steven Page! They have SUCH CHEMISTRY and have built and perform TRULY Classic Songs, like THIS! Any Thoughts? Curious.... ❤
An under appreciated and underrated song by the BNL IMHO. A true masterpiece that will eventually become part of all our lives
I love the crescendo
no, this man sounded like a pussy when i was 15 and he sounds like a pussy now.
I haven't heard this song in years. After all the pain, it takes on a whole new meaning. Much love to All
Hands down my favorite BNL song. This is just an amazing song and without Steve their best songs are missing from any live performances. What a powerful and emotionally charged song.
I feel the same. Bare naked Ladies not the same without Steven Page.
Superb song. Very poignant and melancholy. Still one of my all time favourites.
Beautiful and perfectly, brutally, honest. This song is heart breaking. I miss the 90s
You said it all.
You nailed it
I have always enjoyed this song, but as an adult I have a whole new appreciation for it.
So true Michelle
Agreed!
So true. I love BNL but jump around from band to band and this is the first time I have heard this song in years and time really does change ones perspective.
I was just thinking the same thing.
So sick of people like you bragging on youtube about how you can relate to a song now that you didn't used to be able to. Some of us will never have anyone, but you don't care about that. You're selfish.
This is the best Barenaked ladies song evahhh
Ever.
One of the best bands ever. If you don't love the Ladies, then you don't understand music.
Pretentious comment. "If you don't like this band that I like, then you don't understand anything about music." Just shut the hell up.
This band is so underrated. They have such a great vibe!
They're literally one of the most famous bands in Canadian History...
BNL is the Canadian version of The Beatles. Their music is just as catchy and fun to listen to. I often find myself humming their tunes while working.
I guess you weren't alive in 1998.
This is my favorite of theirs. Very song structured like a great Lennon/McCartney masterpiece
True statement.
My guitar teacher taught us this song this year. Recently I’ve been listening to it A LOT. Great song
Give her/him a second chance. But only a second chance. Love this song so much.
Hands down one of the best BNL songs!
One of my all time favourite songs ... crazy the emotions that this evokes
Their voices just compliment each other so well in this song.....
I thought that too but all the vocals are Steven Page and no one else.
This song is so unique in that in builds up to the final vocal catharsis instead of giving it away early on. Songs that adjust their forms and emotional states add an extra layer of identification between the listener and the singer.
More songs that do this are "Lightning Crashes" by Live and "Jesus Nitelite" by Eve 6.
This was one of my daddy's favorite songs we played this at his celebration of life. Miss you daddy. ❤
So sorry for your loss 😔
That is touching I also miss my mom so much!
Your dad is dead!
Today I thought about this song and listened to it for the entire day. I cannot believe it only has 300k views. I can't believe this wasn't even their top 5 hits.
Incredible. This song got me through some tough times, cheers to all you fine people
Such a sad song. I listened to this a lot when my ex and I split in 2010. We shared a child and we had to manouver an amicable relationship after a betrayal for the sake of our son. Listened to Stunt for the first time in over a decade and was absolutely blown away this song, beautiful and heartbreaking all at once.
Those songs you listen to during those difficult "times" in your life? my parents were divorcing when I was 10 and I had no friends or siblings or people to talk to or share my burden. Then came music. I would hide and cry and wish my parents could call and answer each other, it's a great song by itself, but my life has a special relationship with this song that is super powerful
lost my aunt's dog daisy last year
Joseph Wright ❤❤
What dose this song me over all?
Hugging your heart
This song hits a couple old relationships of the past. Miss his voice in BNL
What an underrated band!! These lyrics are just amazing. As good as anything. I never paid attention, didn´t know they could write like this. Thumbs up.
I used to listen to them way back in college 20 years ago and to watch Steven Page live yesterday Canada Day 🇨🇦 and sing this song was so surreal 🤗
Canada sucks.
One of the best music videos ever.
I love in Barelaked Nadies how the commentary says they called Volkswagon and they were like, we're not having a hard time selling them, so we're not giving you money. Or something like that. really hysterical.
What a beautifully written, clever song. Long live rock and roll.
What a brilliant songwriter Steven Page is.
Are.
Gahd, someone please bring me back to this era!!!
Reminds of some of the best times of my life ... Michigan 2008 - forever etched in my memory, what a holiday, the place and people. Great times.
I'm really wishing Steve and Ed would take this song to heart and "rebuild".
Heuzier Daddee Oh me too.
Heuzier Daddee Me 4
Mike Cords
Cathy Moses do I know you?
Mike Cords no
Woof! I'm from the 60's and that song is intense! The message is to be honest with each other and talk about what's going on in your heads. I first heard it on a tape I found of no name. I loved the lyrics, so i looked it up online. and it's been a fav for --EVER! rebuild yall!
Beautiful sad song
This has to be one of my favorite songs of all time.
Beautiful song! Should have been more popular than it is.
I first heard this when I was in Michigan - what a special time and what a beautiful song ❤
I first heard this song in '99 or 2000 and I've loved it so much ever since. it hits you in so many different emotions. I couldn't listen to this song enough
Brooke Wall-E yup
It's so weird that this song hadn't even been released until I was halfway through college (or later!), but everytime I hear these guys sing I'm a Junior in high school all over again...
I listen to this song every day. Hands down, one of the greatest bands.
I just saw Stephen Page and Kevin Fox perform a medley of this and bridge over troubled water, one of the best things ive ever heard
One of the best concerts I ever have seen was the Bare Naked Ladies They are amazing.
Im here cuz this song was at the end of ep 5 of Schooled season 2. Love this classic song. These guys are such a good group. I wish them the best.
This song is a LOT like my most recent relationship. Really needed this right now.
+Ryan Ahr I hear you BRUV!! I've had some painful ones in the past but working on rebuilding !! CHEERS!!
This is a amazing song! I have to listen to it every single day now..^^
Almost 2018 and I'm still listening . I love this band
This is 2022. Tell them not to eat the bat.
I was introduced to this song by a certain someone . I fell in love with the song. It pulled my heart strings. So you KNOW who you are !!
Thank you !!
xoxox
Page is one of the best modern day singers, IMO.
I agree, listen to The Mavericks and Raul Malo.
Crazy talented voice as well.

My wife and I got married to this song. We love it forever!!
Nobody cares. Overprivileged a$$ h0le.

I've been sad since 1999 too.
Ive been sad since 2011 😢@James-if3kc
I love this song so much... makes me feel like everything is going to work out just fine.
It's not. You're probably dead now.
2:28 - This part gets me every time. Such powerful lyrics.
Dude looks evil while he's singing them
Hey when I search up Bearnaked Ladies on TH-cam now it actually shows up!!! Wow only took 20 plus years but that's great!
Haven't heard this in years, wow, just wow, what a beautiful song..Anyone else in here in 2024?
10/26/2024 seeing BNL tonight in Biloxi
This is one of my favorite BNL songs. It needs more likes!
God, I love this album. An absolute textbook example of a cohesive production... Just excellent.
This song in particular, let alone the whole Stunt album, really defined my early childhood.
This is one of my favorite songs!!! love it!
Hauntingly beautiful song, that I can some how relate too.
This song is really sweet... and mellow. And Thoughtful. Thought provoking...
2013 and this is still an amazing and emotionally powerful song...
love this one. My all time Favorite !!
They absolutely crushed it with this song..... Does anyone wish Stephen was back?
yes yes yes yes yes, however it would never be the same as before. I like Steve's solo work, but there's just enough difference in it that I think there could be a bigger rift. Just saw him live at my local radio station kink fm..He has got it all!!!!!!
2019 and still better than at least 75% of current music!
damn straight
75%? Is this supposed to be a Compiment? 99.999%
No mumble rap crap
This song perfectly encapsulates my first -- and failed -- marriage. Right down to lines like "you only think about me when we're both in the same room" and "play the game of who loves more than whom" -- both of which were almost exact quotes by my ex.
Art imitates Life, Life imitates Art, Art intimates Life, Life intimates Art
They should get back together. Forget your grudge. We need you
I used to love this song and had an extremely bad breakup that haunting me for years. I could never listen to this song because it brought up horrible memories and was just to hard on head. I love the fact that it's an actual "call and answer".
Just saw Steven do this with the WSO (Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra ) and it was amazing!!! We love you Steven

This is an Alpha offer at recompense; beautifully savage, savagely beautiful it goes balls deep!
Arguably one of the most sexy and melodic ballads ever!
sexy? It's about recovering from an affair.
One of the best bands ever
such a beautiful and powerful song.
Best song by these guys without a doubt
Underrated song.
I blasted this song back in 2007, after my wife died. Rip tracy I miss you.
This song reminds me of the greatest person I've ever known. We got this, babe.
I miss the 90s amazing time and when you look back and think about how it was then and now its a sad place to live in today !
This song deserves 500 mil views
Great song!

i always thought this band wrote way to many pointless, ridiculous songs but when i hear something like this it makes me wonder what kind of potential they truly could have hit. Great song!
Sometimes life itself is pointless and ridiculous, so it makes sense.
I mean for the most part they are comedy musicians. Nothing wrong with that
AMAZING SONG
AMAZING BAND
I got into BNL through American pie. I stayed because of this amazing album and their chemistry, please sort your shit out lads!
One of the best music video ever.
I love in Barelaked Nadies how the commentary says they called Volkswagon and they were like, we're not having a hard time selling them, so we're not giving you money. Or something like that. really hysterical.
This song is art
Such a beautiful song
Forgot about this song till I heard it on TV show schooled. Under rated song
