What pains me is that celebrities portray this idea that the way to show that you are comfortable in your own skin is by being almost naked. Why can't we show that we are comfortable with ourselves with our clothes on? Why do we have to take any action to prove that we love ourselves? People will know that you're comfortable in your own skin by seeing you smile, living life to the fullest, and enjoying every moment.

I'm white, and my boyfriend and three stepchildren are mixed. I will never forget the day we were all on our way to unveil something my boyfriend helped build for our local discovery center. It was over 100 degrees outside, and I had on shorts. My boyfriend was poking fun at me that my legs needed some sun. I laughingly answered "I cant help it I'm white!" Our oldest was in shock and said "Wait, you're white? We don't associate with white people!" We had all been cohabiting for quite some time, so clearly she had no idea what "being white" meant. Someone had taught her that white people were bad without even talking to her about what that meant. Our kids are young enough that Daddy hasn't had the "race talk" with them yet, so we don't talk about that in our house... we try to just be good parents, and show our children that we love them... hate is learned on both sides. The only way to stop it is to raise our babies to conquer with love, but it does take everyone to do that for it to work.

Its not surprising. Women sell their bodies all the time to get attention. Its not all their fault, to be honest. We as a society have come to make it so that we praise women who are sexualized and reject women who arent. So, yeah, its stupid to have an album cover where you literally are selling a naked picture of yourself. But, at the same time, we constantly talk about Miley Cyrus or Kim Kardashian when they take their clothes off ("theyre just expressing theirselves"). And we very often celebrate celebrities who use sex as their go to weapon. Its ridiculous because there is a lot of talent in the world. There is meaning behind the album cover though. Its not like she just stripped down and took pictures because she likes to. She named the album "Revival" for a reason. She's been reborn, a new Selena, which means more confidence, etc. She's showing off her confidence, especially after people have called her fat this past year.

I have 2 biracial granddaughters and several biracial cousins. My african american daughter in law is my favorite one. I always all of our lives matter black, white, biracial, hispanic, asian, asian, and on and on. I just hate all of this violence between people. Our Lord and Savior created us all and that makes us all brothers and sisters. So instead of all the hate and violence in this world we should try to spread a lot more love and kindness around, and we would have a glorious world. I am a 16 year old girl and the fact that adults are immature enough to bring down a woman's confidence makes me scared for myself as a girl and for the future. Selena is not even showing anything. yes, all women are beautiful irregardless of shape, color or size. Hence, its something to internalize for those who know it and to realize for those who dont. A woman dont have to take her clothes off to tell the world she is comfortable in her own skin,the name for that is indecent exposure. Maybe doing so may speak of high self esteem but it also shows that the world's opinion of your body matters to you,which is a complete contradiction. Too many women today use the world as their mirror and its such a tragedy.

Its not surprising. Women sell their bodies all the time to get attention. Its not all their fault, to be honest. We as a society have come to make it so that we praise women who are sexualized and reject women who arent. So, yeah, its stupid to have an album cover where you literally are selling a naked picture of yourself. But, at the same time, we constantly talk about Miley Cyrus or Kim Kardashian when they take their clothes off ("theyre just expressing theirselves"). And we very often celebrate celebrities who use sex as their go to weapon. Its ridiculous because there is a lot of talent in the world. Yet we very rarely see more Celine Dions or Sias or Adeles because being sexy trumps talent.
