- CORONATION STREET - NOVEMBER 1998
EPISODES 4500 - 4417 (All 18 Episodes)
This content doesn't belong to me, it belongs to the people who made it. Property of ITV. I claim no rights and make no profit. This is just for entertainment.
It was nice to see Les being genuine, and comforting Natalie. No coarse remarks, no banter, no ghoulish prying on where Des fell - just genuine sympathy.
Liz loves Jim, then she doesn't, she wants to be back with Jim, then she doesn't, she wants to move in with Jim, then she doesn't, she wants to be with Michael, then she doesn't, she wants to go away with Michael, then she doesn't, She hates the sight of Jim, then she doesn't... aaaargh! make your mind up woman.
Yes, brilliant appraisal.
Thank the writers for that one 🙄
Yes if i met Beverley i would ask so is your relationship with men as complex as is on screen? 😄💁
This is stupidest storyline in the history of soaps. Jim needs to stop using fertilizer or his hair Liz needs to admit she looks like Percy if she trying to be the next Elsie Tanner she needs to go back to acting school. She looks like someone who hangs out seedy bars way too long.
Calm down calm down it's not real 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Betty always makes me laugh with her straight attitude. It was hilarious her jumping out of the bed from Alec and then saying she might claim compensation for getting a shock like that during the night, having nightmares and having to sleep with the light on.
Poor Des. He was a great character, annoying, unreliable but very likeable. And Philip Middlemiss was always one of the more dependably good actors on the show.
You can rely on Brian Park to get rid of the popular actors.
I always liked Des.
I always thought he looked a bit like Paul McCartney's younger brother or cousin.
Nope didn’t like the man boy he made Derek & Mavis’ life a misery had he been my neighbour i would have moved.
Can't help but fancy des looking back if I met him now I'd be like yes please wonder what he's doong now
I'm surprised they can go back to work upright with all the grog they knock back in The Rovers at lunchtime..I know it's a show etc but imagine in reality lol
I often think the same. Lunchtime and evenings spent in the pub but then they complain they haven't got any money 😁
Call me mad but i feel all the booze consumption is a form of brainwashing anyone with any intelligence knows alcohol is an addictive poison & the feeble minded watch this & think it’s ok as all the characters are always knocking the booze back it can’t be that bad same with the ciggies both legal both taxed to the hilt.
@noeljr.7724 Not to mention liability in the workplace. Baldwin could go a row for allowing it,if any accidents.
Back in the 70s UK, before I emigrated to the US, I remember our office would regularly go to the pub across the street at lunchtimes. Some of the lads would even bring their unfinished pints back with them to the office and finish them there. Crazy days.
I always wonder what the rovers annual turnover would have been. Plus I wonder how they could all afford to get rounds in every lunchtime!
Thank you so much for the videos
You’re very welcome! 😉
I think Roy plays the most sweetest character
Actually the actor who plays Roy is called David but I know what you meant!
Those cults that were prevalent in the 1970s & 80s in Britain were dangerous places!
I remember going to a kind of open evening with a group of friends mainly because they were to speak about purity, crystal healing which id already been studying on my own, herbs, just about all the things that Zoe was being told about.
During the talks & demonstrations etc, i got shivers up my spine, there was something pernicious about their glued on smiles, glassy eyes & gushing platitudes..
It really set my teeth on edge & I informed the friends i was with, my concerns that there was something ulterior behind the gloss!
I noticed alot of types of Mandalas or hypnotic shapes being projected on to the walls of the large hall we were in & this strange background music just audible that i was sure matched up to certain frequencies that stimulated certain cerebral areas.
Looking around at many of the audience they certainly looked
Under some kind of subtle control
I began to gather my friends so we could leave.
Some of the members of this group standing in the aisle & sides of the hall, tried to stop us from leaving, still with the creepy wide smile, offering us herb tea !!!! Which we declined
Strongly.
We were allowed to leave but you could tell they were annoyed but we were polite but very firm & got out of there asap.
We all said the same thing afterwards, that it was defo a cult group, masquerading as something like a nice calm hippie type gathering... but it was NO such thing.
I still believe these cults have evil intent & insidious backers.
They are so sickly sweet its tantamount to the sweet smell of rot & corruption.
Best stay clear of these organisations with all your power of resistance!
Cheers
🇬🇧👧
That was so well written Italia666 , I was invited to something very like what you described , but told it was about herbs & crystals. I never went but those that did go , changed & not in a good way .. They became sickeningly sweet , and had that fake smile you described , so well it was very creepy . It was in the early 70s …… not unlike the women in the movie STEPFORD WIVES .. It wasn’t anything I wanted to go to . I still like studying crystals & Gem stones, and have a nice collection .. I married an American in the 70s , and have been marred 52yrs , I love living in America ,I’m 75 now . I had long forgotten those strange women from the factory in Burnley England were I worked long ago . I lived their for 3 yrs , but I grew up in London England . I always go by my instincts , if it doesn’t feel right , I’m not going to attend, or join any group . Even to this day , I’m very much a loner . If your gutt tells you theirs something fishy about this , listen to your inner voice . I just recently found these old episodes of Coronation street , they remind me of the time I spent up north in Burnley .. they have a saying their , they say … “ theirs nowt as funny as folk “ … ?
Steve was a real prat back then and today; they just use him for comedy. Liz was always a slapper.
Should not have killed Des off.
Omg I haven't seen yet nooo love des he's still a tush all these years later xx
Thanks so much for sharing :)
Thanks for the uploads!!! Love late 90s corrie!!
Me too! 😊
Alex Gilroy and Rita Sulavin and the doorway to Heaven , real Cornation street comedy , will miss Des Barns , he was always a good character , and had great storylines
From a previous comment , Martin Platt is alway there when anyone from Cornation street goes to hospital , he was on the scene when Des arrived at weatherfield general hospital
Look at Des and Natalie’s tans from a honeymoon in Ireland 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Why didn’t Tony ask his dad for the cash? He is loaded!
Didn't know Cain Dingle was into musical theater 😆
He also managed a nightclub in an earlier episode.
Re: the attack on Tony Horrocks - for a worldy-wise woman Natalie was unbelievably naive regarding the burglary story. I appreciate she's his mother, but really?
Absolutely hated Zoe. The way she treated Ashley and just standing by letting Ben and Ruth upset Judy like that.
OMG Kane from Emmerdale!!
Les makes my skin crawl..wire brush and kerosene bath after being near him..lol..😳😅🙂😄😉😳😅🙂
One of the best characters ever in the show. Always creating a good storyline.
Natalie to Alec: "You build yourself up any more, Alec, and you're going to be needing planning permission for a new bay window!" 😂
Congratulations to Brian Park yet again for killing off another popular character.
Which one are you referring to?
@@EveHenleySpread Des Barnes this time.
Was he sacked or did he just quit??
@@nicolemclean9028 He wanted his character killed off so he likely left of his own free will.
4:07:22 and 4:11:04 - two of the (very rare) occasions I can appreciate Judy Mallett, for her assessment of Creepy Ruth of Nirab, the cult which does a very good imitation of those religious door-knockers who do their rounds on Saturday mornings, dressed like 1950s librarians. The "join us or you are doomed" brigade. When Judy says (of Zoe), "I don't think they'll let her go that easily," she couldn't be more right, about Nirab and the others mentioned. I 'lost' my sister to that very cult. So the storyline for Zoe hits home, though is done rather unrealistically.
EVE, all these singular messages from me are out of thanks and respect for all you efforts so far.............
DUKES 1989.......................XX
I see Zoe on this but can't help thinking Downton Abbey
Mavis and Dereks nice home does not look the same, not kept up
Zoe is so naive with creepy cult people
Martin.....'Oh and the police are here.
Tony.....' What do they want?'
Everyone who's watching this.....'Well, Duh,'
Keep up the good work
Moody doom munger Zoey with that weird music 🎶😩😫🙄is doing my head in
Alec getting into bed with Betty 😂😂😂 "I'd sooner be suffocated in my own bed, than mauled to death in yours!"
What happened with Hayley and the factory girls? Feels like the story was dropped
They received a lot of complaints from viewers for bullying.
Martin Platt....the fountain of all medical knowledge 😊
He's always mincing
About in that nurses
Uniform thinking
He's a cut above everyone
3:49:09 Des banging his head on the table was cut by ITV3, so he's just on the floor out of nowhere here.
I remember him being headbutted first
Jesus Liz in Jim's Bed ... he can't get up the stairs....
They’re like dogs in heat!
Cult thing is beyond boring to watch. I skip past
Anyone else realise Nirab is an anagram of Brian, as in Brian Park the then Executive Producer?
they really should have done an anagram of his second name.
@@eatmywords Do you mean Krap lol. There was kind of a hieroglyphic portrait of him on the wall too. Very far fetched storyline, more suited to Brookside.
🤣
@@eatmywords Sadly there's no c or i in park
Why does haley walk so fast shes a right odd ball😂
Liz expecting a christmas card from Jim after what she's done lol
She's taking the urine there 😂 Surprised Jim didn't throw a brick at the car
As aging tart Liz left with her new young bloke
Its wonderful to see Liverpuddlian actress Margi Clarke as Deirdre's ex cell mate
Jackie.
Ive seen Margi in many shows & theatre & id not even call her an actress because Margi plays herself! Shes a natural comedienne & great in this role of ex con Jackie
Margi was pretty stunning when younger & sparkled in any role she played
Im sure she started in Stand Up but im not sure when.
She'd be brilliant in Corrie! Like a
Live wire
But knowing the producers of these Corries i'll bet she wont be in Corrie very long
They always hit on a great character then phase them out or
Kill them off or just disappear them!!
So so terribly sad about dear Des
He was so mischievious & cheeky like a schoolboy, played outrageous pranks on poor Derek & Mave the Rave!
They shouldnt have killed him off
What an utterly stupid storyline
Thanks EHS
🇬🇧👧
Sally has a big mouth and no ability to see anything coming. And I don't even feel sorry for her.
But I do feel sorry for her kids. And it does explain why Rosie turned out the way she did.
lol I've been saying the exact same - poor Rosie hah
Can not download the sudio to MP3 Which is a great shame. Nice to see these monthly
Ruth said her sister lost the baby now they say it’s her cousin .
I suspect that was just a recruitment ploy, so for Ruth it didn't matter to keep the story straight. Or maybe it was to test how gullible Zoe was.
6:42:18 first appearance of Tyrone
It was so strange seeing Cain Dingle from Emmerdale there.
And Vanessa
And earlier episodes with Log , which is Rona from emmerdale married irl to Cain
And Harriet who played the vicar played the doctor looking after Des Barnes
@@Tinkerbella89 lol so many future Emmerdale actors on Coronation Street !
@@Silentium.1 well yes lol
See Mavis and Zoe reunite in British TV's finest ever example of ensemble acting: Dinnerladies! th-cam.com/video/pUyPfg5EVbo/w-d-xo.html
Please that horrible woman from prison really there must a battillion of horrible crones all under contract to Granada please ✋
I'm afraid Im done with watching Corrie. I can't stand any of the new ones...........
You did well to get this far.. I think I was done with in February of '98
Sick fed up of all the cast members arguing all the time it's doing my nut.
@@briangatt2956 I agree. It is the producers.. They are dragging in lower class actors. They ruined Corrie.
Poor jim Macdonald has definatley had a bellyfull with dirty liz 45:47 🤨.
Liz is absolutely man mad! Horrible woman
'so he is'
Is it me or was Des’ death cut because I will swear that he got headbutted and that’s what put him on the floor
Gutted Des is gone..
Jackie Dobbs 🤣😂🤣 a breath of fresh air haha
Nick's art tutor. What a slime
Does any1 know if des left or was he sacked???
Good old maude puts four eyes in her place, the same place she resides.slapper city.
Rita and the Steamy Novel 😂
If mankind was created not to eat meat, then why do we have eye or " canine " teeth, designed to rip flesh?
Also...
We are fed milk when babies & toddlers who have a certain enzyme that helps to digest the milk ( formula or cows) which is said to disappear from our metabolism after weaning
However its been proven that some people still have this enzyme ( slightly reduced) into adulthood & thrive on milk which proves very beneficial.
I know this because i still have this enzyme & drink 2 to 3 pints daily & have done for decades
I have very few wrinkles, good skin, alot of strong hair & nails
Etc.
I think its the best drink i know & adore it, im very crotchetty if i dont get at least 2 pints of milk per day!
Lol
Thank you EHS

Loved Des
I did not love Des; he was a highly annoying womanizer and he made Mavis' and Derricks live a misery!
Vanessa off Emmerdale playing Zoe's "friend"
Am I wrong on thinking that Mavis's house (Now Ashley &Zoe's) is cursed? It's on the same land that Emily Bishop's husband was murdered.... Derek died and had his funeral car leave from outside then , poor baby Shannon and from the few recent episodes I've seen Maxine was murdered in the same house....Now Dez is murdered next door...
People from hartlepool dont have a geordy accent i know because i live half an hour away in Middlesbrough
Awww poor des R.I.P.
How old was Liz then? I admit the ultra minis r well short or probably I’m just jealous I couldn’t fit one leg in! Go on now Liz😵💫
Hasn’t Zoe heard of headphones?!?! Why Ashley puts up with her sorry self I don’t know why!
1:21:57 That scene gave me the chills.
Aren't Zoe and Leanne only seventeen here? How is it they can get into clubs and pubs? How are they allowed to buy booze in shops? And how old is Ashley? 21, 22? Why is he dating a teenage girl?!
Ashley is a pervert disguised as a 'nice guy'. He should be in jail!.
@@notonyournelly5475 I agree
I'm guessing you never went clubbing under age? Everyone did it I sure did. 16 is the age of the consent or it was back then, it was a little bit frowned upon back then for 16/17 year olds going out with someone early 20s (21/22) but it happened. I remember at secondary school one of the girls in my year (year 11) was 16 and was going out with a 26 year old. I thought it wasn't right back then but again not as a big deal back then.
@@notonyournelly5475 What would he be convicted of? Zoe isn't a minor, so they're not doing anything illegal. Besides, Ashley's mental age has got to be lower than Zoe's?
My mom and dad first hit it off at same ages. The irony being my dad thought when i was 17 i should not have been dating a 22 year old as i was
Margi Clarke isa terrible actress 😳
And Jackie Dobbs a horrible character. Her voice nearly sets my teeth on edge and her garish appearance hurts the eyes. Her arrival marked my 'start to skip episodes' phase. I just couldn't stand her. And then when Sharon Gaskell turns up as well = more time reading, less time with Corrie.
45:48 🤣
Poor Derek only had a year & seven months peace before his tormenter arrived.
😭 Could be a spin-off
Show in its self Derek and
Des in the afterlife
Sometimes i like Liz McDonald because despite her tarty dress
She seems to have an allure men cant resist!
Other times i think she has to have a man, even an ex con gangster as long as he pays her attention.
I think in the Liz character she was married & pregnant at 17yrs old, she hadnt lived life, hadnt experienced what life can give
Or what can be achieved
I didnt marry until i was 26yrs & had a good career, travelled, had many friends, seen some amazing things around the world so by the time i married, id fulfilled many wishes & had a great time & was quite ready to settle by age 26yrs.
Yet a friend of mine married at 17yrs, she & her husband were great friends, did everything together & shared equally, they both had brilliant senses of humour & only had eyes for each other!
They had 3 children, never strayed, nor had affairs & they are still together after 52 years together & are still very happy
& fulfilled & laugh alot
Its just finding the right one!
Could take a long time or you could be lucky like my friend &
Find your soul mate very early in life!
Cheers & thanks EHS
🇬🇧👧
I think you're right, live a life before or you'll always be wondering
Hey isn't the actor who is after Zoe tattersall to join the cult the one in torchwood series?
Yes that is him
Natalie should have backed Des and not sided with Tony, notwithstanding he is her son.
Sally 😔 why ?
Judy is pregnant with twins after all that moaning ov er the lack of a baby and now she needs a brandy??
What's going on with Steve's
Bonce🤡🙈😼💇💆🤯🥶 he's trying to hide,
His receding line in so many, creative ways!!!
Gotta hand it to him.
Tony smokes a cigarette 🚬 like a Balkan warlord
I hope you all get nits 😂😂😂
Nata!ie mouring Des
knowing fine well she was protecting her drug seller son.
If you want extra humour turn on the captions. Ruth becomes roof and Wetherfield become my other field!
6:42:12 first appearance of Tyrone Dobbs
Can't wait 😁 years of blandness lay ahead🥱
My granny's canasta club is more dangerous than that supposed drug gang.😂
T.V. Writers 😂😂😂😂
Close-talker Deiedre.
This Liz storyline is pitiful and quite degrading to women! Women don't normally make themselves such a martyr in relations. Storyline not believable to most ( a filler storyline of zero substance) too bad the writers usually use stories of substance, meaning and reality.
A lot of people do exactly that, some know no other way
Surprised Jim didn't throw a brick at the car as Liz was leaving with her young toy boy tool
Keep wanted to laugh at Caine dingle
Cain Dingle goes camp 😂😂
Tony always looks off his face 🤒
OMG a gay Cain Dingle!
Cain Dingle sighting at 6:22:00
Natalie pleading Tonys case with Judy of all people. All he did was run down her Mother and kill her! Did they forget that?
Tony got his comeuppance eventually.....in a basement care of Jez Quigley.
Sounds kinky😫
Carnt stand e way haley talks
6:42:36 So good to see Tyrone 😊
Actress pkaying Zoe is a bad actor
If you haven't seen her in the Moors murders with Maxine Peak you'll see she's improved a lot.
She was a bad character also
How can an actress be a bad actor? That’s one of the dumbest comments I’ve ever read.
@@septembervirgo3723of dear...😂
She's not anymore, she definitely got better
