chem guys always struck me as a marketing company that happens to make detailing products. a handful of them are great, but most are easily beat on price, value and effectiveness by well...detailing companies that happen to market them from time to time.

Tend to agree it always comes across as if profit is the first thought, then second & third, that's just how I've seen them myself, I've never bought anything they make as a result- I don't doubt they must make some great products but I also feel they also make some that are not as good as ones ( like some things I always go Bilt Hamber some turtle wax some Maguires & I tend to stick with what I know works well, not the best way to be the speed things are changing- developing, that said I can't afford to be buying stuff hoping iit works, I did that with Auto Glym wheel cleaner & I gotta say I was disappointed as its not as good as what I had been using, that's why these uploads are so vital to me, a true unbiased view, well you know how rare they are these days eh 🙄

I agree, but they do come out with some good products. But I have been disappointed by more of their products than any other company. Glass cleaner seems good if you find it on sale. I have thrown out multiple mostly full containers.

Absolutely agreed, they do have some good products until they overmarket. As said in another comment it is mainly for profit at this point. I started with them but over time there are better products to take its place
Lately the turtlewax hybrid solutions graphene pro flex wax

Chemical guys is a marketing company, that's how you sell product. The hydro slick is a amazing product, this guy applied it super light. I also recommend jet seal aswell. They both last about a year. Some of Chemical guys products im not a fan of, the glass cleaner is terrible also the streak free glass cleaner is terrible. There tire shine is mediocre at best. I'm also not a fan of their clay bars. There quick detailer is great and smells great also. Same as there quick spray wax

If you watch CG videos, the four drops you used were way smaller than the “dime sized drops” they demonstrate.

If you are washing, clay barring, compounding and polishing your car in a multi stage process (paint correction) then prepping the surface with CG Wipe Out and finally using CG Hydro Slick as your ceramic sealant I can tell you from many uses that the finished product looks and feels absolutely amazing. I have a black Tesla Model S and the CG products work very well on it. From my personal experience living in the desert where there is sand, dirt, wind and very dry climate Hydro Slick when used properly lasts around 6 to 8 months if you just let it go and don't maintain your car regularly. It will last the full 12 months if you wash and detail your car periodically.

I have it and do not care for it. Find it hard to remove. Maybe it was just me who had the issues. Chemical Guys has so many products that I think are duplicates with different names.

Sorry to tell you my friend, but you should see the Chemical Guys Channel, so you can see the different application and instructions they have for each product. It’s like arithmetic’s problems. You can have more than one formula for each problem. By the way, I’m just trying to be fare. Oh yes, and the drops they always recommend are almost a dime size. Have a nice day, and I’m like you, I like to follow instructions, but in the detailing world is good to see different process on how to apply products before you do a video. All and all,I love your page and I’ll continue to follow you. Have a nice day, and sorry for being a little realistic.

I actually switched to this for a final coat on vehicles for my detailing business. I did a trial and liked the results on our personal vehicles more than a standard wax. I have run into the same problems shown. It is difficult to see after application, it almost sticks to paint and is a bear to remove (remove it quickly as shown), and it does not give an any enhancement or gloss to an existing paint. So, I have to have something prior to application to bring out the paint. I love the hydrophobic properties, they last. I also wash frequently but I only apply this twice a year. Thanks for the video.

  • @joshbunter825

This review was good as it aligned with the results that I got for application and water activity with this particular product , and confirmed that its not an impressive product for the money and that it under performs compared to other products in the same category. I did a fair bit of application process testing myself and couldn't seem to get the product to work any better than it did for yourself. I appreciate the way you meticulously followed the instructions as it was good to see the results, although I would have also liked to see some comparisons of changing the application process to try and achieve different results.

$40 sounds expensive but per car it's really not bad . Can get quite a few applications out of 16 ounces. I'm getting 6 months plus out of it for like $3 per car . Yes it is a bit finicky to use for the 1st time but once you get the hang of it it's pretty easy.

CG have some good products (shampoos, hex logic pads and some waxes), but the Hydro range is all over-priced, for what it is. Much better, longer lasting, lower cost products from the likes of AMD Details and Infinity Wax.

Other than CG soap and maybe their pads which sometimes disintegrate (bad quality control) they like to pass on their marketing costs onto the consumers on every other product they have.

I dont think you used enough at first to prime it. I bought this product when it first came out. It gave me about 11 months of solid longevity, Around 13 months, it started to sheet slowly. I did top it once a month with xpress spray wax. Long story short. I had to buy another bottle because my other bottle i gave to my cousin. The new bottle, it dont last at all. Its been reformulated, its weaker. It probably last 5 months tops

I dont really like chemical guys because they have so many products for each application. However, I have used this product with great results. Its fairly easy to apply and leaves a really slick shiny surface. Id say it lasts about 6 months in the hot Fl sun. Its a bit pricey but you really dont use that much. Id say a botttle would do my full size truck about 10 times.

cool product but for me the branding is waay to American - glitsy, blingy and tacky…way to many superlatives and waffle all over the place. That paragraph on the back could be reduced to literally 2 sentences. All confusing IMO and i’d be left thinking ‘what the heck is this’?
Kind of misleading use of the phrase ‘ceramic coating’ too - Chemical Guys aren’t stupid and know that people in the industry use that in a specific sense. This kind of reinforces to me why i’m not a fan of the American brands - nothing against them at all but personally i like the German and Korean brands.
