Wow, how in the world are you so quick?! It's not even on the changelog yet! Yet again another confusing move by Google. But your explanation is great as always 👊🏻

I have a question here, I am setting up a lead gen form with a thank you page. I want to track the thank you page as a conversion in my Google ads. I am confused - do I create a conversion action in Google ads and fire the trigger on my thank you page through GTM or should I send an event to my GA4 via GTM, mark that as key event and then import the ey event in my Google ads? Which one is best for the long run ?
Thanks for the heads up, great to be informed before it happens - love your channel! So does this mean we have to change all of our Looker Studio reports again to the new metric?
In Looker Studio reports I've created calculated fields to show me Conversion Rate (Conversions / Sessions). Will I need to change that calculation to use (Key Events / Sessions), so that it isn't showing me the CR only for Ads Conversions?
thank you for this great vid. Unfortunately our conversions in Adwords are reporting half of what is reported in GA4. Trying to see if we are double counting somehow. Its a minefield and very unsatisfactory from Google.
This video is very helpful, but I don't think enough people will see it and as a result, won't understand the difference between key events and conversions. But I am happy Google is taking steps to make GA4 less confusing and I myself have run into this issue of incorrect conversion reporting based on Google Ads data. I always try and keep things simple when setting up conversions regardless of where I am setting them up and try and maintain the policy that a conversion equals a lead. So a form fill or a gated download is a conversion because it produces a first name, last name and email address. But any website activity that doesn't produce a lead, I don't consider a conversion when doing reporting. What do you think of adding a lead metric to GA4? I feel like clients understand what a lead is better than what a conversion is.
Any updates where we can locate the Key Events Reports? Previously, the Legacy Conversion Report can be access at Report > Life Cycle > Engagement > Conversion but ATM it didn't show up on our end.
Thanks for getting this info out so quick! I googled it while watching your video and literally can't find ANYTHING about it. How did you hear about it?
No diss to you, but if one listens to the first 3 minutes of this tutorial, its mind-blowing how difficult and obtuse Google now makes tracking conversions.
Considering the huge discrepancy between Google Ads and GA4 conversions data in countries affected by GDPR, shouldn't the numbers of conversions still be different? Or will GA4 simply import data from Google Ads? In any case, this sounds like it will solve exactly nothing.
Google: we are constantly improving our products for a better and more intuitive user experience Analytics and advertising users: yes, yes, yes, we confirm.....
Thanks!

you are really the best I ever seen in the past 10 years experience.
Thank you for politely giving shit to Google.
Thank you for your quick update 😊

Thank you! Very useful
Really helpful as always! I'm assuming this won't break anything in our Looker reports that use conversions?
It shouldn't
I know I'll have to rename all the metrics in 'conversions' because my clients won't understand what 'key events' are haha
That's true
Thanks for explaining this.
explanation is great
Thanks for information.
Useful vid. Still not sure of the need for multiple naming terms.
Thank you for this video! I'm still not seeing this in my accounts yet, but at least I won't be surprised when I do.
Thanks for the heads up, great to be informed before it happens - love your channel! So does this mean we have to change all of our Looker Studio reports again to the new metric?
The metric should be renamed eventually there
非常棒的解释,很有帮助!
Very good explanation. I have a question, does this change the interpretation of new users and active users?
Completely unrelated
Thanks for the video! However, for some reason, I don't see Events nor Key Events under the Data display, what am I doing wrong?
Thanks brother

I think no. "conversions" should eventually be renamed to key events
@@AnalyticsMania great - I thought the same thing, makes more sense that way! 🤞Thank you!

Great video on key events and conversions in GA4!

So confused, I also can't find anything like that either please let me know if you work it out!
Just by changing the name, how’s it going to help match the Conversions in Google Ads and GA4?
That's a good question! I want to know as well
excellent, thanks!
Thanks for getting this info out so quick! I googled it while watching your video and literally can't find ANYTHING about it. How did you hear about it?
Magic :)
Will API names be changed? Wondering if we will need to update our tools that pull this data programmatically.
Not now. Who knows what will happen in the future
@@AnalyticsMania Thank you!

Do you have any citations to support this? I can't find any details on the interwebz that supports this update.

@@AnalyticsMania thank you!!!
FYI this isn't widely rolled out yet. I have multiple 360 properties where it's not yet active.
You haven't watched the video till the end, have you?
what if i dont have a google ads? i do only have ga4
Then you will have only key events
Google has made it their mission to alienate as many Google Analytics users as possible.
Thats nice.
Google: we are constantly improving our products for a better and more intuitive user experience
Analytics and advertising users: yes, yes, yes, we confirm.....
What a legend
Another useless update from Google! It sounds to me like "conversions" will come only from Ads. Thank you Julius!
It sounds a bit like a #gamechangers solution for now, doesn't it? Let's see!
Dear Lord...one has to ask whether the developers know what they are doing.
Nice video, but another bad change from Google lately...
