I was in a band called Colorblind back then and we played many shows with band . My singer that also passed Bill “Turtle “ Rhodes R.I.P. was good friends with the guys in the band . Great Times. R.I.P Dave.
Thx for sharing. That’s awesome. I’m 46 from a small suburb outside of west Philadelphia and this came into my life when I needed most. I was wrapped around skateboarding in the 90s golden era and a lot of things were completely shit. This came into my life and helped mold my attitude, value my friends and great times and I stopped feeling sorry for myself. I still get emotional listening to it. This and turning point we’re all I listened to. I miss these years but so grateful for being alive in this era when everything was at its pinochle 👑DMYZ WUZ HERE
Orig. from NY - (Bronx/Long Island), but I was stationed in Italy in 1989. My bro Inti made me a tape of this, and we would sk8. In 2005 when I retired from Air Force, I moved here for a job offer, but in reality I moved here because of Fucking NJHC. Specifically because this... Lifetime and E-Town. But theres just too too many amazing bands from here. True Jersey. Shore Style.
We're still listening. Probably the most creative hardcore album ever produced. The drumming is stupendous, the guitar blends power chords with effects. Very well written songs incorporating tempo changes and deep bass.

What does choosing to be me actually mean though? It sounds good but what does it mean ontologically? If you were made in the image of God then that would necessarily mean that you are only really you insofar as you have conformed to that image.
@@MaximusWolfe In my opinion "choosing to be myself" means I'm not controlled by substances and I choose to think for myself and not just follow what other people are doing to try to "fit in".
@@A.beach05 Well said. However, that understanding still prompts the question, what does it truly mean, in the ultimate and vital sense, to avoid conformity to the zeitgeist, social norms and allowable opinions? For many are those who talk like nonconformists who still end up readily kowtowing to political correctness (the narratives echoed by massive corporations in society today) and other ideas that humanism perniciously imbues. Wouldn’t it be more profound to not merely refuse substances (l’m straight edge too) but the ideas and spirits which animate the “NPC’s” of the world? By this I mean transcending the tumult (the narrow dialectical notions) in search of something transcendent, eternal, sacred and changeless (“a truth without alteration, standing back of all”)? It seems to me that people settle for these sort of superficial forms of rebellion which we might call “being ourselves.” But what if being ourself according subjective notions of individuality means being a murderer or being a man who claims to be a woman (who rejects his immutable physiological makeup to the point of self multination)? Was Jeffrey Dahmer being himself? Was that black dude who ran over all those whites in Waukesha being himself? Rather, let’s be ourselves in the most profound sense by becoming what our maker intended in having made us all unique, but also according to His divine image (see the concept of theosis in patristic literature).
Lived in NJ all my life. I remember playing football with these guys by the Brunswick banks. This brings back memories. Hoping to go to the show on March 28th with Sick of It All @ Asbury Lanes.
This album did more for my teenage upbringing than my parents could ever have dreamed of (assuming of course that they were interested enough to dream about me lol). Honestly thought, a massive portion of my personality is directly associated with how deeply I identified with this record when I was around 14 years old.
one of the most technically talented hardcore punk bands ever! similar to bad brains in that regard, talent of a metal band with the attitude/rawness of punk rock and hardcore punk bands! vision is way too underrated, watching the world burn was the only album by them that is somewhat known in the mainstream because of the punk o rama and epitaph attention! great fucking band!
+oxrjbizzle1984y Read this comment last night and had come back and give you Kudos! I couldn't agree more about how talented AND underrated Vision is and I make sure to mention it whenever possible. Great fuckin band, indeed! Lucky to say I was able to see them live once at the Troubadour in 2003.
I ground scored this record somewhere near the Berkeley-Oakland border back in 2013. What a score! I can't believe I had never ever heard of them before. 1995 was my watershed year for white hardcore and I lived in Ohio at the time. I wish I could have seen this band. Amazing!
oh man....somehow this band was erased from my memory until today. such positive lyrics and heavy rhythms with great melody. gonna listen another hundred times from now! let's start today!! haha
The one chance I got to see them was at the Fortune Cookie in CT and the drummer broke his foot so they cancelled the show!!! My favorite HardCore Album for many reasons. Great musicians, vocals and the lyrics got me and still get me through shitty times.
burt2245 ..... Is this Burt defect??!!! I Sure as fuck hope so!!!! If it is ...VIVA LA MORTIS!!!!!! if it isn't u I apologize . N this band kills it. Reminds me of my youth. Trading hip Hop tapes to my buddy's for thrash metal
just heard of the death of singer dave franklin who passed away in january, really sad news, he was only 47 and was one of the true visionaries of punk rock, vision never made it big in any financial way, they just made amazing punk rock music for themselves and for the fans.....RIP my friend....
The greatest album in hardcore history... The only reason it doesn't get put in the conversation is because they signed a crappy record contract that made them be forgotten for a LONG time...
Great album and band, but too much Punk to be the greatest Hardcore album. For The Love Of... album, Feasting on the Will of Humanity, is a better Hardcore album. Also Groundwork, Shai Hulud and Snapcase (Progression Through Unlearning).
Not even close to the best. Age of Quarrel, Victim in Pain, Crime Ridden Society (OLC), Murder Squad (Blue Eyed Devils), Bad Brains self titled, Hammer Lane (Folsom), Revenge on Society (BFB), Dead Eyes Under (self titled) and Gorilla Biscuits Start Today are the true contenders.
verbal assault, dag nasty, embrace, turning point, vision, old ignite, unity, burn, inside out, biscuits, shelter mantra, ... my positive youth.
I miss the days of searching for vinyl @ Princeton record exchange, & record shops in the city...

Yes Joshua that was him. I was in a band called Elements DEC with Scott from out of hand

Born and raised Jersey Shore here.....this album was one of the best to ever come out of NJ!!!
This record is 30 years old this year, and, I still have it in heavy rotation. Dave won't ever be forgotten.

fuckin best band that ever came out of fuckin jersey....

thank you for the best album ever written dave..

Stay strong, remain hard. You got this

I'll never grow dissatisfied with my life as long as I choose to be me. To act to think for myself with no regrets and to find what is real

Perfect band/album!!!!!
This already classic album but if it was put out by Revelation it would've been considered as a masterpiece along with Start Today and Bringin It Down
Sad day for New Jersey Hardcore. Hardcore in general, really.
This album is from 1989 though. Anyways, saw them play in 1990 and they crushed it. Good times.
first thank you for your music
second no matter where I am at in life my vision boys keep me grounded. thanks fellas 😙

Underground sk8 hardcore band...1989 nemesis records (the original lebel)...
Reaching out and getting nowhere....
2 things:
1) the 8 people who thumbs downed this need to rethink everything.
2) This record came out in 1988 I think.
i think they were probably looking for something more tough guy and hard
