Think this is it for Dustin. Never seen him so accepting after a big loss like this. I think he is content with his career. He fought in the hardest division in the sport against so many World Championship level fighters. Take a bow Dustin Poirier. What a man!

Now this is what I like to see. None of the trash talk or trolling from anyone in the replies (I hope it can last, because we all know how the UFC comment sections are. Just acknowledging the hard fought fights these warriors go through. Dustin made Islam bleed which to my knowledge, no one else in the cage has been able to do to Islam. Islam himself in a post fight interview said Dustin was a dog and thanked him for such a crazy fight. I would say if Dustin was going to lose any way we looked at it, this was the best way for him to go out. No shame in not being able to become undisputed during the Khabib and Islam eras. These Dagestani wrestlers are a special breed and we need future prodigies to contend with them. The fact that Dustin has been in the game for so long and adapted so well was incredible. He didn’t suffer from the BJ Penn curse where BJ came back at the wrong time when the sport evolved beyond what he had known during his time. Dustin has been through it all for his time.
I don't think this is his last fight. He still looked great. Islam is just levels above from the rest of the division but Idk why I think Arman could possibly defeat Islam. Anyways, Dustin is way too addicted to this shit. I just don't see him walking away from this fight game at 35.

Considering the numerous head injuries, nasal surgeries, and other traumas, including repeated concussions from punches, it’s wise to think about retirement at the age of 35. The UFC and such intense sports won’t be beneficial when facing neurological issues or other health problems. Money isn’t everything; health is priceless, so take care of it.

It has been a hell of a ride to watch Dustin grow into the man he is today. What a fighter! What a career! No shame in losing to Khabib and Islam. They legit started an entire era in the lightweight division.
“You can’t control the outcome, just the process.” Wise words from the Diamond 💎🙌🏽
Good excuses , where you got that from
Great line.
The absolute epitome of the word “fighter”. If you could build the perfect fighter you’d build Jon Jones’ physical attributes, Khabib’s focus, GSP’s fight IQ and Dustin’s “heart”. Heart is the one thing you can’t teach. Dude is as inspirational as any of them - perhaps moreso.

Really good comparison. Having such an emphasis on good wrestling is almost like a cheat code in the current MMA under the rules that are in place. So for anyone who is not fully specializing into wrestling/grappling, it is a complete uphill battle and you are being taken out of your comfort zone. I just hope that MMA does not lean too much into everybody becoming a grappler... as it is the most boring stuff to watch.
Man Islam seems unbeatable at this point. What was even that at the end, that twist around takedown, how do you even defend against something like that?

Wrestling has always been the most dominant aspect of MMA, go back 15 years ago to GSP's reign as Welterweight champion, he had that division on lockdown because his wrestling was so good.
Same with Khabib and Islam, wrestling is a fundamental component in MMA if you want to make it to that championship level however it's arguably the hardest discipline to master.

Dustin Poirier is a true legend and a class act. One of it not the classiest most loved guy in the UFC and a 1st ballot HOF’er it’s a sad day for the UFC and fans if he does retire. Such an easy guy to root for and fan favorite. I can’t remember a boring fight he has ever been in. He gives 110% every round every second of every fight.
One of the old time greats! Retirement sounds great! You have given enough! Thank you!
I like the honesty in this guy
Edit: this guy has a heart of a champion. From now on I’m a fan
If it took you this long to be a fan of him, not only is it too late but you are a fake mma fan
Heart of a champion
Never been a champion 😂😂😂😂
Kind of like machester united @ankitojha4593
From now on you're a fan as he is about to retire. Unfortunate timing but yeah he was always legit!
Better late than never! There is a documentary on where Dustin got his start and fighting in smaller shows before the ufc, i would recommend checking out. Really makes you appreciate the blood sweat and tears fighters give
we love Dustin - great fighter and great man - his humility and honesty are something - great role model
absolutely a legend. world champ or not. i’ve had the chance to meet him a few times being from the same city as him. great guy outside the ring and even greater when he is in it.
Up most respect I think in everybodys hearts he is a champion in every way, I hope he's got a few more fights in him so he can achieve his dream, he's a natural born rocky Balboa he is the people's champion he's got the skill the heart the attitude, I could watch him fight all day his fighting style is so entertaining respect Dustin I hope we get to see some more fights if not I wish u and your family a happy future, and good luck with all your charity work, u are a legend in the sport and don't forget that
That’s my GOAT. Dustin inspired me more than any other fighter to just be a great man
GOAT of never winning a real title
Proper dustbin fan😂😂😂
Ankit you are a losers
Ha!!!!!!!¡!!!!!!!!!!¡!!!!!!!!!!!¡!!!!!!!!!!!!!😂
That's so cheesy 🤮
As islam fun, I can say that you're à legend. Very humble, respectful and worrior. Regardless of the result, you're still a legend and you gave a lot to this sport..
wish you all the best 👌✨️
from the land of hospitality 🇲🇦❤️
You will always be a champ regardless. Your very cool, Calm and Collected Dude with a heart of Gold.
As an English person new to the sport- I commend this truly gracious gentleman. Inspirational. What a champ!
Time for Poirier to call it quits. He came close a few times, but I don't think he'll ever become champion.
He unfortunately had to fight the 3 best champs to try to get the belt.
He is mediocre!
Had these many title fights, always fell short
@@ankitojha4593 good english brother
@@ankitojha4593mediocre fighters don't get multiple title shots. Not even one
