This is probably the best well explained and helpful videos I have watched on TH-cam. Very well done and appreciate your time on this video. I have a 2014 550i I am currently troubleshooting
When I replaced the intercoolers, I notched the bottom mounting tab. That way I was able to start the bolt and slide it on the bolt prior to the intercooler being in the way. SO much easier to get it back together. I saw a tech do it on another video and it worked nicely. I had the exact code you had. Just replaced all four a month ago and it runs like new. Mine is an 2013 550i Xdrive It made it 73k before the OEM solenoid took a dump. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for the quality filiming and FULL step by step. The mistakes I would have made would have been $$$$. I appreciate the time you took filming, editing and especially for your commentarty, thank you. Life Saver :)
Just curious, what were your symptoms other than the code p0025. Mine threw a "drivetrain malfunction" on the screen, and some miles later a check engine light with p0025 and engine makes a knocking/diesel engine sound.
@@bradtimmons696 it was bad vanos/timing gear that sits at the top, the bolts came loose, causing timing issues, and eventually bolt heads came out far enough to get eaten up and chewed and broke into the engine..fixed it and sold the car.
I would probably say In boards are exhaust. Because your exhaust exits on the inboard side of the block. Your intake tube's are on the outside of the block
Just curious, how many miles are on your 2011 550i? Still got it? I'm at 115,000 miles and don't owe much, just trying to figure if I should keep it. Love the car and can do my own work mostly, just trying to see your opinion.
Hey I have a 2011 bmw 550i I’m trying to do that same thing with. I’ve taken the passenger side intercooler off and was able to get the top vanos actuator out but the bottom one is running into whatever type of solenoid sits in front of it. I can’t seem to find the bolts to be able to get that out of the way. Any tips?
@@ferrarifxs I think it’s the boost solenoid. There’s a plate that sits partially in front of the bolts for the bottom vanos. I was able to get that out of the way enough to get the bolt out but when I try to pull the vanos out it hits the boost solenoid. I was scare to do too much turning and prying so I just put it back in until I figure it out

Thanks for the reply and watching
Smart! BMW should design that mounting bracket tab with a notch as you described.

Great video. Thank you for taking the time to do this.
Great video, appreciate your time. You didn't include turbo coolant and bleeding.
Thanks. Very Nice video. 10/10
Glad you liked it!
How much coolent comes out of the intercooler can it cause some spillage to cause smoke when it’s burning off ?
Probably 1 to 2 gallons
Very informative video. Thank you for posting. Do you remember what code/fault code description you were getting before the fix?
Not off hand

Mine didn't have anything like that. You have to watch on higher mileage cars the timing chain guides could be bad or worn out.
Did you ever find out what was wrong with your car My car is throwing the same one Is drivetrain malfunction

Excellent
Thanks
Thanks for clarifying which banks are which. But would you know which vanos is the exhaust/intake. I need to clean out (VANOS exhaust 2)

This was my son's car and we sold it about 8 months ago for a 2015 m4. It had about 110k on it. Car still ran excellent
Great vid but it's 10x easier if you take the radiator and fan out first
Thanks for the tip

Not off hand. Is it parts of the intake that your hitting? It's hard to tell.

I got a 2011 BMW 750 I and I got a code P0025 do you know what needs to be fixed? Thank you
Probably the vanos need to be checked. Or your cam shaft valve guides maybe starting to wear.
I replaced both of vanos solenoids on bank 2 .. Issue resolved just like your video … thanks alot that will save me lot of money…thank you
do i need to drain anything before doing this
Coolant
Did it fix the problem?
The connection was loose. Yes its fixed with no other issues
@@ferrarifxs did you have the code
No I dont
Can you do mine lol
Not a fun job.
