La batería de Jeff Porcaro es impresionante!!!. Su acompañamiento en la canción, sus dinámicas, sus matices y notas fantasmas en la caja, su sonido de rimshot, sus golpes de caja en el momento justo, sus fills...: no sobra ni falta nada. Hace caminar el Groove como solo lo pueden hacer los más grandes de la batería...porque él era uno de los más grandes!!!.

tienes toda la razón le da esa pausa, ritmo y profundidad al tema, pero igualmente, Steve Lukather la rompe cuando pasa a ser la guitarra el instrumento que lleva el dolor sofocante del ser sufriente de esta canción .

I notice the negative comments here but I take them with a grain of salt because the people criticizing the singer would love to be able to sing like him.He has a great voice and this song proves it.He knows how to deliver a ballad.
Only problem was, TOTO are much more than a ballad band and he couldn't handle the other material. Also, Lukather hated him.

i remember TOTO from my younger years but have just found them again at 58 when it seems the music means a lot more to me now. for the last 6 months have been a born again fan. This song I found on accident. Every song I hear takes me back to how great these guys are.

@@jenteworrell4065 I like Simon too, but if we are talking about groove Jeff is the number 1 groovemaster! Drumming is not about drumsolo’s, fast drumming as possible, notes, its about groove! And Jeff had his own groove for every song that he played, and he played it very smooth every time thats why he is the n1 drummer for me.

One of they best and multifacetica bands of all time. They deserve more recognized than they have.
The Porcaro brothers (Steve Lukather) did the actual job in this song. With the precision of Jeff's play, the snare is just tremendous and the shuffle on the hi-hat and the leading cymbals, the phrases of Mike's on the bass, and the little completions here and there by Steve, David's organ blends everything and gives it an edge.
Man, this was one of the best TOTO ballad songs!! Miss the drumming style of Jeff Porcaro.. and also Mike Porcaro who suffers from ALS :(

He has been sending hate letters to Toto recently. Shitting on them for kicking him out. Byron didn't have any abilities performing live. He sounds decent here, but he was really crap. And he thought he was some kind of Michael Jackson. It had all gone to his mind.

Seems very basic on kick and snare...but some real magic happening on the hats, ride and those very subtle ghost notes on the snare.

I think this shows some of the diversity of writing that set this band apart from lesser groups...Lukather has this ability to soar in a large number of genres but doesn't steal the spotlight from the lead voice in the piece...Deep respect...

I never doubt the 3 songs Jean Michel Byron recorded with Toto are simply amazing but somehow i knew he wouldn't last with them because there's no way he could sing all the classics that Bobby Kimbal and Joseph Williams are known for. Byron's voice... sweet and powerful on songs like this, on the other hand had nothing in common with them.
