James Heltebridle was prop master for 8 episodes of TWD. Had been a production assistant on many other projects, and passed in 2016 (after filming but before airing of this episode)
Even though Alexandria is in Virginia, they still film the show in Georgia, during the summer. It snows a couple of times in the comics (and the cold actually slows down the walkers as they freeze) but on the show it's incredibly expensive for them to create snow sets. They definitely wouldn't have spent their budget on a snow episode in a season where they have to digitally add in a tiger (which, judging by the upcoming infamous deer, already ate up the budget). I'm pretty sure people actually live in the Alexandria set as well so they can't just do whatever they want with that area.
I live in Northern Virginia (about 45 mins w/o traffic from Alexandria in fact), we definitely get winter. We've even had blizzards and days of constant heavy snowfall. The seasons in Virginia is often called bi-polar though. There's even a meme that Virginia actually has 12 seasons, instead of just 4. Again, this is the northern part of Virginia (the DMV part). Not entirely sure of the rest of the state...
@@johnjoseph6874 the Finale was worth it to an extent. Season 8 had its moments but it was definitely the worst season. 9 was extremely refreshing a was a really good season. It’s my personal favourite season. And Season 10 was also great. Probably in my top 5 seasons.
@@oxleygames5571 I agree with you about season 9, the villains, the writing and character development was so good. It’s definitely one of my favorite seasons. Season 10 tbh I thought was a dry season. A lot of great moments though.
I'm pretty sure the time frame for this season is like one or two weeks in regards to not having any snow and there was a winter between season 2 and 3? but they didn't show it obvs lol

A good bit of the shows past seasons were in GA. Can confirm that there are many places in GA that are summer 24/7 other than a few weeks of Fall we would get. Where I used to live there was snow once every 10 years for a couple of hours. Obviously this doesn't apply to the northern parts of the state like atlanta (or VA for that matter), but in south georgia you wear shorts and summer clothes at Xmas. It kinda sucked, tbh.
Funny thing about the guy who played Gabriel; when the episode came out the guy who played Gabriel thought of hiring a bodyguard because of what people were reacting to his character.
The reactions are good! I'm from Alexandria VA and we do have winter from Richmond northward it will snow. We don't usually see it until January. But we get snow a few inches at a time. It builds up because it takes time to melt. Global warming has messed up the weather. As a child in the 1960s wed get snow.by the foot not by the inch. In 1979 Feb. it snowed from 10 pm to 9am. I'm 6ft tall. The snow was just above my breast. It shut down the Metropolitan DC area for 4 day we had 4'-6' of snow. We had so much fun!. I can't wait to see the rest of the seasons girls!
They can't afford snow which is also why the comic creator started to write the story without winter being involved so the show wouldn't have to struggle with trying to replicate it all the time. Also spring and fall have been shown several times, the story attempts to take place almost always when it's not winter well besides some of season 9. The video games and comics already have that covered anyways

The episodes take place days after each other so each episode is legit 24-48 hours later so that’s why it doesn’t change seasons much
