My MIL grew up in a house where she watched her mother get burned by cigarettes, cut with knives and glass. They would keep their dad drunk cause that was the only time he was kind. He raped his adopted daughter and molested his grandchildren. And my MIL is the kindest, sweetest, purest woman I’ve ever met in my entire life. She didn’t use that as excuse to be evil.
