Uematsu is a fucking genius. How can a piece of music describe a character so well? Tifa is desirable, strong, yet vulnerable. And this composition perfectly interprets that.
This game, and particularly it's music, got me though a dark place in time in my youth over 2 decades ago. The FF7 story and it's music are perfectly balanced and equally rich with emotion. I learned to play Areith's theme on piano hearing it in 128 bit sound. (I play by ear with no training, so it takes me a while to learn songs) Working overtime, responsibilities, and eventually kids, I didn't have time to play piano anymore. Fast forward to present time, and the new FF7 remake is out. My youngest hears a song on the game and said it was the most beautiful piano song ever, and would love to learn to play music like this. I purchased an electric piano for Christmas, because I don't believe this was coincidence. We now play simple duets, and he's learning quite well. I am now able to practice at night, through headphones, and this is the first new song I've learned in many years, through this channel. And this will be the first full song I teach the kid To me, this was never a chance to correct or relive my past. This is my responsibility as a father, to use my pain and suffering, and turn it around to create memories of joy that they will remember for the rest of their life. Thank you for hearing my story. Something i love about music: it can convey emotions in a way words can't. This theme sounds exactly like nostalgia to me; just sitting back in a rocking chair, old and wrinkled, talking with friends, saying, "Hey, remember when...?" I remember listening to this with my dad and saying that about the song, and then my mom (who doesn't care all too much about video games) said that it's just amazing music can say things like that. And then my dad said that this song plays during the parts of the game when ur sharing a memory with Tifa. I had no idea that happened (i don't know much about FFVII); i knew that u remembered stuff with her, but I didn't know this song played during it. Amazing, what music can say....
There is nothing like the original game but that scene was so good from (in my opinion) a bit disapointing remake (im not talking about the story as a disapointment just a point i had to mention)

I'm learning this song and this video helps a lot! Tifa's theme is absolutely perfect, you can hear and see her character and know her personality just from the music. For such a strong person, she has a tender side that is only exposed when she lets her defenses down. This whole song was based on her talk with Cloud under the stars, at the old well. And this piano piece expands on that in the second half, when it sounds like they're looking up at the stars and the grand sight of it overwhelms their words and thoughts before Tifa asks Cloud to make the promise.
i love this transcription, ff7 has truly been one of my favourite JPRG of all time, probably among the best games I've played, along with ff4, ff8, and FFX. This piece evokes so much memories of days past, it is genuinely a timeless classic.

The last 30s is ingenious. It's so painful. It literally sounds like someone who is desperately in love with someone they know they can't have. So they hurt, but keep a smile on their face.

too slow at points where it's not supposed to be. it's really awkward sounding. first verse is good chorus was awkwardly slow again at the start dynamics are generally good I don't know why pianists think because you go extra slow on slower sections and transitions that it sounds better. it literally sounds like you're not even playing a song at that point you're trying to hold your breath before hitting each note. it breaks the continuity of the song entirely and just sounds bad. So many youtubers are guilty of this on their own "interpretations" of things like Clair de Lune
