Yeah Hotaro breaking out of the gold for no reason was the point in the finale where I said "ok we're still doing this?" It would have been better for me if some special power or some outside force broke him free, but he was the ONLY person on Earth to not be petrified in solid gold just because he didn't want to be
I love the final battle. It's nice that each rider gets a victory with Sabela delivering the finishing blow. A much more epic battle than Gotchard. Honestly, the only thing that bugged me about Saber was Espada not getting the suit back for a while and Kenzan, who was annoying throughout the series.
I quitted watching the show around episode 24 just cause it was at a point where i just couldnt like it at all. Couple months ago, i finally watched the rest of the series and I still hated it. Cant even remember everyone's name cause there was too many of them.
@@markriffalo27 For me when Saikou makes his appearance as a Rider and when Touma's branded a traitor (I think) is when I thought the show got so much better.
Saber had good ideas at the start, messed up the execution and become a mess. Geats was the same but it had a shinny coat of paint that got some simps. Gotchard just did not have a good idea to being with.
Guess I was late, but one aspect of recent kamen riders thing is that they start to leave out information from the main series and put them in spin-off or explaining on the producer's blog... For example, i was as surprised as everyone to see Houtarou being turned to gold and he's still able to move. Until it was mentioned in the Producer's blog that it wasn't the whole body turning to gold, instead it was only gold coating over the human body. Which makes more sense to me that the coating could be broken off if it's not that thick. And also Gotchard has been putting important events in the movies such as Majade's first henshin in the movie and non-Japanese audiences were really dumbfounded in the main series when Rinne said she's a rider already. I think the producers/ writers need to stop putting things out of the main series because it'll just raise more questions for some audiences. The main series should be self contained and be able to stand on its own, while all the other spin-off should only be supplementary to the already completed story.
Glad you read my comment. And yeah I can see where you're coming from where it's just easier to accept and enjoy something despite it being formulaic. Like for me with Sentai I tend to not jive with the episodic stories yet somehow I'm fine with it in PR. And I think that just comes down to how Sentai is always more nonchalant with logic and reasoning compared to PR. Like how in the latest Boonboomger episode people just willingly walked into a restaurant run by monsters and didn't bat an eye. Not to mention the inconsistency with whether or not Sentai shows take place in the same world or not. Whereas with PR they're more self-aware of the world they have their shows in. At least more modern ones. I think a lot of that has to do with how monster attacks in Sentai are more public and have larger evil armies behind them whereas Rider it's usually more unknown and smaller scaled. So it tends to become boring when these massive attacks in a Sentai show where people are always screaming and running away from monsters and yet it's treated like nothing later on multiple times tends to bore me. Whereas with Rider when a monster attacks its usually after one or two people, not a whole group.
I think this format is a lot better as like you said in the video itself, it allows you to bring up points that you’ve might of missed in your previous video. I like the idea of you giving your opinions and takes first before reading ours as it truly feels like your own thoughts first before ours. And yes in regards to just paraphrasing the long ones cuz especially someone like me that loves rider and regardless of if I like or dislike the show, I do got a lot to say so paraphrasing just makes things a lot more clean.
10:48 I don't like to sound like a hater on Gotchard but I genuinely didn't like Hotaro as a character. I remember a while ago I opened reddit for the first time in like a year and saw a r/kamenrider post asking what the most annoying thing in rider is. All I said was Hotaro and it got so many downvotes lol
I know the kid's only 4 months into his career but honestly I feel both he and Rinne were miscast. He played serious and sad scenes fairly well but was forced to play a bubbly, happy-go-lucky role. With Rinne it's the other way around. Watch the Hyper battle video and you'll see it better.
Dude, no one would blame you for hating Hotaru. He's annoying and has no development. Currently, he's my least favorite rider of the franchise. The people who like him have not seen much of rider or are idiots. Good on you for your opinion.
That place is an echo chamber and safe haven for Gotchard lovers who cannot stand having their beloved series criticised. Noticed I only got downvoted and 0 replies. Edit: reply gets deleted for the 2nd time, cba to retype everything. Like I said, im talking about the subreddit culture where you get downvoted to oblivion just for voicing your less popular opinion, not talking about series being above criticism.
@@MaxStarScream I get it you don’t have to like a character it’s your opinion but why assume people haven’t been watching kamen rider for long and insult them calling them idiots for liking a character that is just unnecessary negativity and that is just wrong, some of y’all take the fun out of kamen rider for people because of things like this
Because of the Japan comment, I searched youtube for reviews in Japanese. I don't really feel like watching them, but the titles feel more mixed than the English community. The two biggest reviews that popped up are titled "The worst Rider in history!?" and the other big review was "The birth of a masterpiece!!" I can only ever tell when Rider is super successful in Japan.
My ultimate takeaway is that alot of people seem split down the middle on this show, and that's fine. We're humans at the end of the day, and we all have the right to a different opinion. Again, while I still liked it, I understand where people are coming from if they didn't like it.
Gotchard not getting a return v cinema might mean something. Legend was always planned but it could always be decade or someone like minato using it before it became a stand alone streaming special first. Rider is profitable, so they’re hesitate to change like hibiki when hibiki was not even a rider show to begin with during production. Sentai does not have that much gimmicks to sell or toys sale nowadays after it lost its toy sales to other anime and ultraman franchise. Ultraman making a bulk outside Japan and gavv is filming so early might be trying to aim for simultaneous release date in places like China where it’s popular.
People believe it'll be announced after the director's cut of the finale comes out. Also people in Japan liked Gotchard and it made money. Mostly in the cards and less of the belt. But it wasn't a financial failure of a show.
I've been looking and reading through Japanese forums and comment sections for their reviews and takes about Gotchard and nah, they are just as divisive as non Japanese audience. People who like Gotchard will likely to gush over it and people who dislike it have the exact same opinion as everyone else who dislikes it in the non Japanese toku communities.
Nah, Touma from Saber was better. Gotchard felt way more superficial in its massage. The whole point of Saber is Classic Fantasy Book and the "Chosen One" trope in Saber is the only perfect place to put it due to the base Concept/Gimmick with Calssic Stories. The literal first episode was just like the Excalibur narrative, a special sword only the chosen one can weild to save the world. It was the whole point. At the beggining yes, Touma's Resolve was more about Words than Action just like with Hotarou. But Touma actually Grows and learns how to Stand his Ground and fight for his ideal knowing what his Fight means and understanding how the world works, his Resolve is way Stronger. While Hotaro stayed the whole show basically the same and learns basically nothing, and in his almost darkest point the "Eggx-Machina" saved his ass, while Touma had his own kicked multiple times before he became what he was destined to be by the narrative. PLUS the fact Touma wasn't a chosen one since birth nor He was the ONLY person that could save the world, anyone with his same Desire and Creative Mind could have been choosen by Luna, the world didn't need Kaiyama Touma. It needed someone like him. Saber has its own share of Issues, but Touma as a protagonist and being a Chosen One is not one of them. SIDE NOTE: I'm not saying Gotchard is terrible, worst show or anything, I can see why some people may find something special on it, as much as in your face the massage is, specially if its one of the first Shows with its massage that some people saw. But it wasn't that good, I find it almost boring, nothing wrong with the Slice of Life style, but the short side stories in Gotchard weren't that endearing for me. W made many of them fun. In Gotchard they just happened... And then, If we talk about Human Malice Zero-One was much better. If we talk findig your Purpose, OOO was better.
W and consecutive series toy sales was through the roof, so it became less teenage soap opera and more shonen anime. Sentai only do away toys for donbrothers when inoue wrote less about the mini robots and legend form change while riders writers need to check the date to make sure it match align the toys release to certain episode. Series of gaim and build was different enough when they hired outside writers.
To me Gotchard is mid. I actually liked Spanner as character and I don't really like that people that call him a "bad character" because he takes Ls 98% of the time. I think it makes him more interesting, seeing him continue to fight despite all the beat downs he gets. Though I admit, that part where he takes over the whole association was rather silly. But the Gotchard vs Valvarad fight was my second favorite fight scene of the show. Second only to the Sabimaru fighting Dread with the X sword. Other than those things, I didn't hate Gotchard, but it's definitely mid.
You did NOT just make a Hawk Tuah joke about Kamen Rider... 😆 🤣 The more I've seen of other's takes on Gotchard, it now seems almost universally hated. Possibly the most hated Toku series ever...? Personally, my least favorite Rider show is Wizard, but at least we had a badass protagonist to get through it. The only thing Gotchard has that would pull me in is the Legend/Decade stuff, but it just feels like another Twokaiser situation.
I listened to marcos roundtable talk sbout gotchard and 1 person on it actually LOVED gotchard and i genuinely am blown away at that take. This series was just incredibly 5/10 besides the suits which are better than that. But man i really didnt like gotchard, ESPECIALLY compared to like gaim or drive or W.
10:00 this guy’s got a point, if they just killed Renge and Sabemaru in their debute, they wouldn’t have needed to rush the plot. Instead we got those wasted of space and time. can't belive their presence manage to ruin an already horrible series
I am not sure but many people had high expectations about gotchard after seeing how great geats was and were expecting same from gotchard and were disappointed. Same thing happened with go busters as people were expecting same after gokaiger and because of that go busters was disliked by many. I am not taking anyone's side but I liked gotchard and we should remember that every series is a story of its own and should not be compared to series' story. Every story has its ups and downs and we should accept it rather than spreading hatred about it to others who liked it.
Wasted potential is such a nothing burger critique, fair enough that you dont like a thing as it pans out or you feel negatively about something. But its not illuminating or insightful to say that a thing failed to live up to your own imagined version of a story. Again its perfectly fine that the second poster felt that way about the show. Like I skipped this season coz the first ep didnt hook me character wise and highschool aint my favourite setting for a rider show
Great Godzilla in the Sea, GOTCHARD is literally a step-by-step playbook on HOW TO MAKE YOUR FANBASE LOSE INTEREST & NOT SPEND MONEY in Kamen Rider. It’s SO BAD. Makes a lame boring show like Sky Rider look like a Shakespearean classic. Nothing about the show is Kamen Rider in spirit, the “actors”(*were* they though??? I couldn’t tell from all the wooden cutouts they called characters) were ALL terrible, the suits look nice (only bonus is a lot less SHF of these will be made for me to waste money on,like Ghost) this show was just.
