What are you going to practice in 2024? 🙂 The Biggest Misunderstanding About Jazz Chords th-cam.com/video/P-P-gM7VJx4/w-d-xo.html Joe Pass was right: Play Simple chords and learn how to use them!
Great lesson! I really like the idea of using the metronome on 2 & 4. Also, the discussion of creating solos using call/response/conclusion is very insightful,
Every single video of yours is so packed with useful tips and inspiration. Thank you for that. And of course: happy new year (with hopefully many more videos)!
I’ve enjoyed your videos for some time. Thank you! I’m working on “nica’s dream” a horas silver tune. What would you suggest playing over the Bb-^ and Ab-^ vamp at the beginning on the tune? Thank you in advance. Michaud B.
Hi Jens. I didn't know how to contact you. I signed up for the roadmap course yesterday. Windows Media player nor Word work to open up the lessons. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Thank you Jen’s . To me this video is the best one I have seen from you as it is simple to understand and concrete to put in place. Thank you for your teaching.
I find you to be very interesting and I also like everything that you do but I also want to let you know what I am doing is learning all my major scales and I'm doing that first before anything else I think that is the most important thing when it comes to a beginner guitarist it's learning all the major scales Would you be so kind to let me have your thoughts about that thank you 🤨🤔🤨?
I came across your channel yesterday and have been watching your videos non stop! In this video you were talking about drop chords, can you/anyone please explain it briefly??
Thank you Jens for making things simpler ,for me at least , to understand and use for concrete music. Theory is great as long as it is at the service of musical reality. Your videos are always full of knowledge. Thank you so much
Talking about a fanatic… Waking up before anyone else to practice, okay. But sleeping with your guitar in stead of your partner? Come on Jens, there are limits…
If I would only knew that such exercises are the ones that really develop you musically and let you play with other musicians I wouldnt spend all my time for "chop builders" that are not of practical vocabulary
really makes me want to play ! I just bought a 2022 Ibanez JSM20th Anniversary just for beginning songs like these. Like a new instrument all together.I have a long way to go :>)
Happy New Year, Jens. Your videos are a constant source of joy and inspiration in my life. Thank you for being the person you are and doing what you do. I hope you have a wonderful 2024.
Another clear lesson that you can put to use immediately. I've been doing this kind of thing a lot with blues progressions in particular, but without thinking much about the transitions I'm choosing. I just throw in random things to see what happens. Sometimes it sounds good but rarely do I end up with something structured enough that I can recall with any clarity how to repeat it. Since I have a pretty good chord vocabulary this lesson has given me a whole new perspective on how to use that knowledge in a much more effective way.
Once again your clean easy way if explaining things - makes me realize what it is I, sort of, already doing - without having a clue about what I'm doing.
Great video Jens! Im with you in the pre-dawn practice club. Love the exercise expanding on a grip to lots of variations. One thing i do to make practicing inversions more interesting and useful is to play them as 2 5 1s, or 1 6 2 5s, etc.
Great video! Agter neglecting it for a long time, I finally started to improve my comping last month. I always thought comoing was "boring" but I realized I just did not know how to make it fun. This lesson will definetly help. 😄👍
Great video Jens! Do you have any advise how to master soloing through chord progressions, quick finding notes belonging to the chord being played and proceed? 🤔
Hi. Mr Jens Larsen. Maybe it's a stupid question but please tell me how to get sound of your guitar you used just at the beginning of this lesson. Thanks.
I’m 43 I started playing guitar at 14 I learned on my own but never learned what the actual concepts of styles.. I always used my fingers instead of a pick. At 24 I started learning classical and baroque.. I learned a lot over 5 years of learning modes theory from Northeastern University in Chicago.. but it only taught me a strict way of playing it right or not at alll.. I’ve been learning a lot from your channel as a guitarist I want to learn as much as I can.. You are def the best teacher on TH-cam…
This video really helped define the kinds of things I've been exploring on my own. I particularly like the idea of staying in one hand position holding a chord and then playing a melody by just moving your fingers around the anchor point
1:03 I am curious, wich jazz idols names did you give to your Kids? Joe Larsen and Ella Larsen? 😂 Love your videos they help me a lot with my guitar lessons thank you very much 😊
I'll add my praise to the others below. I've seen many guitar tutors on TH-cam, and I have to say I find Jens Larsen to be the best of them. Thank you Jens, for the instruction and encouragement.

That miles meme used to bother me, but recently I realize that most people do not remember miles being alive, much less the world he lived in...
LMFAO. Nice pajamas, Jens :)
That first exercise is so perfect for the early morning. Gotta try that because I love learning comping by comping!
Go for it! 🙂

Just learn the ones you need to play a song and don't spend all your practice time on scale practice.
I like getting early before everyone and playing. Puts me in good state of mind and notice I'm more productive throughout the day.
Hoping you get to 1,000,001 subscribers in 2024.
