- See a birds-eye view of Crewe Station, LSL Depot & Yard - Including views of all of the steam and diesel locomotives stabled at the Locomotive Services Ltd depot.
A great alternative view to see the scale of the railway in Crewe - One of the UK's biggest railway junctions and yards, full of history.
Steam locos visible are B1 61306 Mayflower, A4 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley and either 45231 Sherwood Forester or LMS 46100 Royal Scot.

I don't know - the station, diesel depot (LSL), independent lines, north and south sheds and general layout really gets to you with this film, especially with the mesmerising music. I remember the early 60's, where did it all go?

You can't. Its illegal.
@@TPWSProductions It's perfectly legal. Sub 250g drone, so it's in the A1 open subcategory. Flight allowed anywhere in urban areas including overflight of buildings and people (excluding restricted airspace and gatherings of 1000 people or more) - quick check on CAA website and there's no NOTAMs or restricted airspace around Crewe Station or its depots.

Superb video. The station will look a lot better on the west side when the old south & north bays return, as will the old p1 as P13, opposite the horse landing platform. LSL also to gain a couple more sidings to,which will be very viewable from the new p13. Work due to start spring 2023.

what will lsl use these sidings for will it be the hsts or charter stock?
A future video of Basford Hall yard would be of interest. With all the recent building work going on it's impossible to get close now.
I will try and do this however they’ll likely be a few challenges getting close enough I suspect.. I’ll see what I can do 👍

Amazing! Even after all the years Crewe is still a massive railway interchange for so many different types of traction. How difficult was it to source permission for aerial filming from here? Would love to see more of these!
Yea I thought the same but it’s only difficult if you ask right 😅😂
@@RailwayTavern In the A1 open subcategory it is not illegal and no permission is required as long as you have done the online CAA test, paid £10 for your license, and have properly labelled your drone and fly it responsibly.
I think the proposed redevelopment of Crewe station should bring the disused platforms back into use and build 2 new platforms on the avoiding lines for the Manchester - Wales trains so they don't need to cross the main line. Going to give Crewe & Nantwich a miss during the rebuilding for HS2...

Hi, is there anyway I can contact you directly? I work on the infrastructure and have some rather specific questions as drone use is something I would like to utilise myself as long as its within parameters. Network Rail have their own policy and restrictions regarding it, so would like to find out some limitations if possible.
Had no idea size of Crewe interchange.

@@trainsplanes yep always an issue, I rarely use music because of copyright claims but a lot of people I know use epidemic sounds at £10 a month… I just don’t want to pay it 🤣

As amazing as this is I hope you got the required permissions to do this...
No permission is required for sub 240g done in open A subcategory. Even on private land, there’s no rights to the airspace above it. As long as drone is registered with CAA and flown safely, as it appears to be.
