Catching Duncan Walpole During His Chase Sequence In Assassin's Creed 4 Black Flag

In this video I manage to catch Duncan Walpole during his chase sequence in Black Flag's intro. I must say I was surprised when I first discovered this a while ago.
Usually chase sequences in the Assassin's Creed games are scripted or have failsafe measures to make sure the player doesn't get to the target unless they reach specific points of the chases or after certain events.
Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag is a 2013 action-adventure video game developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft. It is the sixth major installment in the Assassin's Creed series. Its historical timeframe precedes that of Assassin's Creed III (2012), but its modern-day sequences succeed III's own. Black Flag was originally released for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii U in October 2013 and a month later for PlayStation 4, Windows, and Xbox One.

When the chase starts the first time (not possible with a restart) you can run parallel to Duncan and air assassinate him in the same bush you caught him here

I caught him similarly to this the very first time I played the game in 2014.
It was, I think, two playthroughs later that I discovered that there was actually supposed to be a stand-off. 😀

Bru i tried that and i seem to fail everytime cause of fall damage but that was 7 years ago

If you run in the same direction I did you can easily survive the fall.
I haven't tested if dropping from any height from "Duncan's path" during the chase results in Edward dying though. That might explain what happened to you.
