This is the tour INSIDE Castle Neuschwanstein. We'd spent a few hours on the bus and climbed a mountain to get there, but it was worth it. Built by Ludwig II, the castle opened to the public in 1886. More than 1.3 million people visit annually, with as many as 6,000 per day during the Summer months.

It is not allowed to take photos or videos inside Neuschwanstein castle, but thank you for doing so because it is a wonderful castle and we only have the images recorded in our memory, which unfortunately are fading. I think you brought the camera in a suitcase and I thought that it didn't occur to me to do so and the journey lasts so little time inside the castle, that you can turn on the video on your cell phone and put it in your shirt pocket. Future travelers, keep in mind because these are places we probably won't return to and I feel it's worth breaking the "no photos" rules. Thank you for sharing and making me remember one of the happiest days of my life! Best regards from Mexico! 🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽

It must’ve been horrible for poor King Ludwig when he was forced to leave his castle when he was practically kidnapped by his detractors and a psychiatrist.
Absolutely he must’ve been distraught on some level.

Ahhh this takes me back! I took my son to this castle 2x, in a decade, while we lived in SW Germany. Watching this video brought a rush of emotions, for so many reasons.
We went in the early 2000’s and around 2006 or 2007. The tour was longer, and we had an actual tour guide. Nothing was behind plexiglas, but they wouldn’t allow pictures. Oh how I wish I had a smartphone in those days! ❤️

Thanks for the comment. It's definitely worth visiting. Two words of caution. :)
      1) The tours go by way to quickly. You're inside the castle for maybe 15-20 minutes..and you can't really just wander around; you have to stay with your tour and they move you along.
      2) Walking up the mountain to get to the castle is tough so be prepared. There is an option for a horse drawn carriage I think but the majority of people walk and it's a steep, continuous climb.
      Have fun!

Visited in 1956 while in the US Army - Fulda Gap - Cold War Duty. Germany still had a lot of ruins, but most of the war spared Neuschwanstein's exterior, though interior- furniture, drapes, rugs, wall coverings, were sparse, nothing like that shown in the video. I have a wonderful photo taken at the castle entrance of two very young boys in winter dress with rosy cheeks. Would love to post, but do not know how.

“Underground Neuschwanstein castle, built into the rock, is
a fighting arena where witches’ battles occur. Light comes in
from the cliff face that looks out towards Mary’s Bridge over
the canyon between the southwest side of the castle and the
mountains. As you enter the very thick, ornate wooden
doors to the fighting arena, on the right is a slit in the cliff
face where light can enter. Straight ahead across the arena
are 11 gold thrones where Satan, the Mothers of Darkness
and the successors to the Mothers would sit. On the left
there were stairs up to a balcony where sometimes other
high-level Illuminati would sit to watch. There was no light
that came from that side, so sometimes it would be lit with
candles brought by the onlookers, frequently a group called
the Sisters of Light, the Illuminati’s spiritual elite task force.”

      All questions are welcome :)
      Here's the excursion we did:
      www.viator.com/tours/Munich/Small-Group-Neuschwanstein-and-Linderhof-Castle-Luxury-Coach-Day-Trip-from-Munich/d487-2850PREMUIM
It was definitely worth it. It was a full day and included Linderhof palace plus a stop at Oberammergau where I bought a clock and had shipped home. Neuschwanstein is amazing but you'll have to climb the mountain to get to it so be warned. 😜

Where are the heirs of that castle today?

No idea. You'd have to google that. Thanks for the comment.

The State of Germany owns it.

Too bad you cannot freely explore this beautiful castle

    • @OaklandTravel
      @OaklandTravel  ปีที่แล้ว

With the volume of people that come every day, that just wouldn't be possible I guess.

@LL I would tried but I knew if I even tried that and got caught, I'll be kicked out and possibly faced jail time.

It's a pretty well controlled tour. You wouldn't get far.

Btw..it's a long walk up that hill to the castle so be prepared. :)

Where the fuck is the furniture? Where the fuck can you sit?

    • @OaklandTravel
      @OaklandTravel  2 ปีที่แล้ว

There are some chairs here and there but as a visitor, you wouldn't sit. You can only go in on a guided tour and they keep it moving along so no time for sitting.
