THE Moderator was OUT OF HER DEPTH- She kept saying to Starmer, can YOU answer to Sunak. She did NOT give Starmer time to EXPLAIN about the £2,000 from the start. She kept letting Sunak talk over Starmer.
SHE FAVOURED Sunak and his LIES!!!
The Country will NOT make their judgment based on a TV debate
Remember the £360million on the bus. People will believe a lie that's repeated enough.
100% true 👍🏽
I felt the same way when watching.
360 is true but Boris left out we got 270 back
Well yeah, she’s a journalist. They’re all Tories.
Missed drop the mic moment: Starmer asks Sunak if he got that number from the same people that painted the bus in 2016.
Starmer did explain the £2k was BS, the moderator cut him off, he did make the point but because of the moderator's interruption it was lost as James speculated it seems
Starmer did call out the lie! He got interrupted and wasn’t allowed to finish debunking it!
So Sunak doesn't want to talk about the con servatives 14 years in power. But once another 5 years to pretend 14 years shambles never existed.😅
I've noticed that whenever I watch the news, it seems like the media is always criticizing Labour politicians about the cost of various initiatives and proposals. In contrast, it seems like the other political parties don't face the same level of scrutiny from the media. It feels like there might be a double standard at play.
I watched the debate, and Starmer did try to rebuke the £2000 claim.
He even started to explain it, but I think he soon realised he was either going to be talked over by Sunak or interrupted by the person leading the debate when he was given the chance to speak.
I agree talking about the letter would have been lost in the noise of the debate. Better to wait after and let Sunsk be called out on the lie, which I counted he said 10 times (not including indirect references about tax in general)
Why are we excepting this utter USA trash talk “debate” I want a sit down hour long show with 20 minutes each and a 20 minute quick fire and questions at the very least
That's ITV for you.
ACCEPT IT
Accepting.
Starmer would do brilliantly if he pulled out and refused to debate with a proven liar. He’d lose nothing.
As a Lawyer NEVER get into an argument with someone who talks over you, just let the person TALK himself out as Starmer did- He remained in CONTROL.
He was very controlled. Sunak looked desperate.
Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.
I hope you don't use caps like that in your day job
@@dh1380 It's called emphasis, as you can't use italics or bold on TH-cam comments.
@user-wq6sz7vt3w I mean, no. He's one of the country's finest and most qualified lawyers. He's not an idiot.
Only just realised that a prime minister has lied to us?
All prime ministers lie/will lie
U do get thats the point?
Starmer did a brilliant play, because yesterday everyone spoke about sunak winning the debate with his lie. Today, everyone speaks about sunak lying.
Labour is polling so well because the population woke up from the lies of borries and the torries. Today, we literally woke about to the lies of sunak/ to every not completely newssource saying he lied. As such sunak just lost the ability to move people by lies.
Simply said starmar catched sunak and pulled the mask from his head to show the world borries johnson.
Are their people who still fall for sunal? Yes, but these are the kind of guys who would call him a patriot for burning the late queens picture.
Why are we suddenly treating politicians lying as a surprise?
Your second caller was brilliant she totally understood what was happening with this debate. 👏👏👏
We have a National Bee Unit? Who knew? 🐝
Not to blow my own trumpet but I also got the impression that Starmer was letting Sunak dig a hole for himself
Whether he lied or not if we as a people vote for this Government again we deserve them. You can fool me once but TWICE 😮
Sunak should have been in a soundproof cubicle with the moderator in control of the microphone. That would have been entertaining !
Natasha is a tufton member.
Sunak lied that's it. Trying to turn it to Labour natasha is nuts
Trumps son in law Kushner literally used to host Netanyahu in his family home growing up.
Scotland wasn't mentioned once and people wonder why the SNP does so well. What would you do if you lived here? For goodness sake, don't take the union for granted or it won't be there anymore.. that's why Ireland left.. You can't force people to stay. If they vote to leave it will happen.. that would be a terrible shame..
Been waiting all day to hear James O'Brien rip Rishi Sunak to shreds.
Sunak coming with the oversell to a mark that is not buying the load .
Sunak lies Starmer let him very clever lawyer Sunak repeated lies and today Starmer has him banged to rights " Sunak is a Liar"
None of the mainstream media is talking about it though.
As I remember Darren Jones did a press conference about it a couple of days before.
... Whilst over on Murdoch Radio Big Julia H-B is having a mouthgasm crowing how Fibby Sunak won the debate hands down 😅😂😂❤😂😂
I'd much rather a gentleman and somebody that is competent and professional, rather than a lying lunatic. This isn't a personality contest!
What you're describing is a personality contest.
The "Moderator" was incompetent. She was constantly trying to shut Sunak up, but he just kept on talking.
The only way to deal with someone like that is to have them in sound-proof booth like on Mr and Mrs, and press a button that turns off their microphone and brings down heavy black curtains on the outside until it's their turn to speak again.
{:o:O:}
Have someone like eddie Hall as the moderator, I'd love to see sunak talk over l him.
Sunak learns rebuttals by heart, worst salesman ever.
It was the same issue I really wondered about during the Biden-Trump debate back in 2016: Why doesnt the organiser have a mute button? He shouldnt be allowed to use it all the time, interruption is an essential part of a debate, but rather use it at specific moments. So for example at first the candidate has 60 seconds to awnser a question while the other party is muted. Then the mute goes off and the awnser can be subject to questioning. I think not only do we get a better quality debate, but also it will make the event a lot easier to digest because you have a clear structure. So 60 secs muted, 60 secs interruptions, then it swings to the other candidate and he gets his "free" minute and then that gets debated. This can be longer or shorter of course, its just an example. And at the end maybe the candidates have 10 full unmuted minutes to say antyhing they want that they didnt get the opportunity for earlier. Having this sort of "finale" can be quite exiting to close things off with as well.
You know that caller in this program early on said I was going to vote labour but after watching that I might have changed my mind. This is straight from the comments section on TH-cam.. I think this is how people try and persuade others to change their minds. Well done James in digging into his mindset. It's so lame. Desperate. I think it also shows how desperate people respond to farage and this terrible incarnation of the conservatives. They pray on scared vulnerable people. I sometimes wish James would be a bit less mean to them because they do represent a vote. We need to win them over. They are being lied to. We can't help them or ourselves if we ridicule them.. We need to open our arms and let them into our fold.. compassion and understanding. Stop making them feel left out. It's just fuel for the right.. but he was right to call him out..
What are the British Values,
Telling LIES or speaking the Truth?
Lying by all accounts. It seems to work with the British public, who keep voting Tory time after time.
Sunak learned lies from his childhood to him lies and truth doesn't bother him. ?
Etchingham had trouble with the format but saying that, think we all would have a problem

29:06 i would have preferred it be more like a court room with the moderator as judge and objections to arguments being made and lines of questions being followed and ideally all under pain of perjury but i suspect your never get a politician on stage at all if they had to submit to that

Not impressed by slick debates or those who speak in them. Give each party leader 20 minutes to talk and then let them be cross-examined, by expert academics in the areas that were discussed by each party leader. Yes!!! That would focus their minds and make them sweat.
That's the best idea I've heard for a long time.

Is sunak modelling himself on trump?
Yes
He's a btec trump
Trump won though
He believes he can lie like Boris but he doesn't have the ability

I sometimes wonder what conservative values are.cos from what i can gather.these values are condemnation, judgement, stigmatising and small mindedness.the values i beleive in our compassion, understanding, empathy, caring about people that struggle.where am i going wrong.?
You are not on your own. Many people have the same values as you. They don’t vote Tory.
Conservatives value most the money poor people have (and redistribution of it amongst themselves and their rich buddies).
No James, the right wing press didn't say the £2k was a lie today
Excellent man on the beach coverage from Henry Riley.
I think the reason that fact checkers are not employed during these high profile debates is because we naively believe that the character and position of the people debating should not necessitate them! Way too much to expect obviously.
Long adds have killed your channel
And this is designed to shut down your views and it's working very well indeed Beacuse people will not wait trough loads of long adds, life is far too short to be watching adds.
The channel gets no control over the length of the ads, only whether they are skippable or not, and unskippable ads have a 30s maximum length. So just skip them

How have they shifted the debate to small boats from immigration? It's ridiculous.. imagration is at record highs. if that's your thing they have totally failed you. It' not my thing at all. You are no different to them. Especially others from The European mainland .we are the same people. With extraordinarily shared values
Starmer set him up as the lawyer he is to quote Napoleon never interrupt your enemy when they’re making a mistake.
Now he has a soundbite he can rub in Sunak’s face whenever he opens his gob .
amazing eyes x
Also, we are increasingly isolated on the world stage which is a shame because we really were a big deal when we were in the EU. I'm not saying it's the same thing but if we carry on this path it will be one day
I watched a TH-cam video about dealing with these hornets. A piece of weapons grade fly paper is used and one hornet is captured and stuck on the fly paper. The stuck hornet that needs to still be alive, releases pheromones to alert other hornets that it is in distress and needs help. Those hornets respond and get stuck themselves and release yet more pheromones. I saw this maybe two years ago and it was a Japanese bee keeper that used this method to protect the bee hive. This video should be easy to find for confirmation.
The Tories will have those Hornets on small boats, lickety split
Don't you recall Obama, in his first 3 months, telling Israel that it must stop the settlements, but then being shown the door of his own Congress by netanyahu.

Why was it debated only between 2 parties?! There is more parties in race media always give ppl choice between those 2 why 🤷♀️ it’s time for a change

Forgive my ignorance (love the show, but listen from America), but with so many parties allowed on the ballot are there any efforts in the UK to change to STAR or Ranked Choice voting?
We had a referendum over changing to AV, which is a ranked system, back in 2011, but the change was soundly rejected.
There is a strong campaign for electoral reform, advocating some kind of Proportional Representation in the UK. Many of the smaller parties, such as the Liberal Democrats and the Green Party, support PR.
The devolved assemblies in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, and the London Assembly, all use some form of Proportional Representation.
Neither the Conservatives nor the Labour Party, the only parties likely to form the government, are interested in changing the current "First Past the Post" system.
I’m voting for the Monster Raving Loony Party! So there, Mr. Parrot!
Yeah but In America you can win the popular vote and still lose the presidency due to the electoral college, which is also weird.
@@MrSwanny182 In the UK you can get 34% of the voters (with the other parties splitting the rest 2 or more ways) in 51% of the constituencies and win the general election. At least the constituencies are vaguely similar in people.

I don't know that the convention on human rights was designed or intended to safeguard millions and millions of middle easterners and africans.

This bunch of clowns have destroyed everything they touched! Voters gave them a massive mandate initially & they did nothing of benefit to anyone bar themselves. Unfortunately, I do not think for a second Labour would do much better for Britain. This country needs to look inwards & repair & replace the damage done. The USA's faltering support will end with netanyahu speaking before the US congress.
In 2018 Israeli soldiers shot over 6,000 Palestinians. In many cases they were shot with illegal expanding ammunition. So, did the present iteration of this problem begin on 7th October 2023 (1,200 casualties) or March/Dec 2018 (6,000 casualties) ?? And before anyone disputes the facts, its easy to fact check, and I said "shot" not necessarily shot dead
Both are tragic and a solution needs to be found.
But you come across as deeply dishonest when you compare deaths with casualties (a check as suggested on 2018 yields 299 deaths)
That is not to diminish either, which are both appalling. But you are really disingenuous.

Does James just like to hear his own voice. He must have many people waiting on the phone line to speak. And he just keeps talking and talking saying the same thing over and over again. 😮
you must be new here
You have lost some credibility for picking on Sunak all the time, James! Stammer knew it's true that's why he didn't have an answer to that. And about what Stammer said about stopping tourists on a plane when he worked as a public prosecutor and all? Huh? You are the media and are supposed to be neutral and not pick sides. But since you have your own agenda - can you spill out what Stammer stands for - what's his plan? He talks about resolving the junior doctors' impasse but has no idea how. Talk is cheap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rishi Sunak has repeatedly demonstrated why he is perceived as entitled, useless, corrupt, and untrustworthy. His tenure as Chancellor and Prime Minister has been riddled with controversies and scandals that underscore his inadequacies and questionable ethics.
Firstly, Sunak has faced multiple investigations during his political career. He was fined for breaking COVID-19 lockdown rules by attending a party, known as "Partygate," which tarnished his reputation and displayed a blatant disregard for the rules he helped impose on the public. Additionally, Sunak's wife, Akshata Murty, exploited her non-domicile status to avoid paying UK taxes on her international earnings, saving millions while Sunak was responsible for the nation's tax policies. This legal yet morally dubious move fueled perceptions of Sunak's entitlement and detachment from the struggles of ordinary Britons.
Sunak also retained a US green card while serving as Chancellor, suggesting conflicting loyalties and a lack of commitment to his role in the UK government. This decision required him to declare an intention to become a permanent US resident, raising serious questions about his dedication to the UK.
Economically, Sunak's leadership has been disastrous. Under his watch, the UK slid into a recession, with GDP falling consecutively for two quarters, leading to one of the weakest years since the 2008 financial crisis. His failure to deliver on economic promises has left the British economy in shambles, with high inflation and skyrocketing energy bills compounding the misery for ordinary citizens (POLITICO). Sunak's much-vaunted economic plan has failed to produce results, undermining his credibility and competence as a leader.
Furthermore, Sunak's policies have often been seen as self-serving. For instance, his recent investigation by the parliamentary ethics watchdog was triggered by his failure to declare his wife’s shares in a company that benefited from his government’s policies. This incident exemplifies the corruption and conflicts of interest that have plagued his administration.
During the recent ITV debate, Rishi Sunak falsely claimed that Labour's policies would cost taxpayers an additional £2,000. This assertion has been widely criticized as misleading. Critics pointed out that this figure lacks substantive evidence and appears to be a scare tactic. Moreover, Sunak's claim is seen as particularly hypocritical, given that Brexit, which he supported, has already cost the average Briton nearly £2,000, according to a report by Cambridge Econometrics (LeftFootForward).
In summary, Rishi Sunak's track record is marred by a series of ethical breaches, economic mismanagement, and a clear disconnect from the public's needs, making him an entitled, useless, and untrustworthy leader.
The British government has proven that sunack
Was lying in the debate, all James can do is reflect the truth, which is rare in the UK media these days
Starmer, as DPP, has personally caused the deportations of more fake claimants than the entire Tory Cabinet from 2010 onward.
He's prosecuted terrorists and war criminals, and incarcerated them.
Sunak's predecessor stole security documents and gave them to a KGB spy, then put the son of that spy in the Lords.
Sunak has refused to apply sanctions against Putin's lieutenants, and is still suppressing the report into Russian bribery of Tory MPs.

Tax can take many forms and affect different people. Inheritance tax is such an example. It only affects a small number of people, yet all delude themselves into thinking it applies to them.
Spending more is also no issue if the money goes where it should. Everyone knows public services are in the dumps.
