- Sylvanas was almost a throwaway character, and the story for WoW could have been completely and utterly different.

How different do you think the story would have been if Jaina was the Banshee Queen instead of Sylvanas?
Funny enough they took the scrap idea to hearthstone the card game in the adventure mode
@@goyut1 which mission in Adventure mode?
I'm still waiting for Jaina to be revealed as a dreadlord
Garithos was a hero, humanity doesn't deserve a true hero like Othmar Garithos
I’ve always thought that Sylvanas should have replaced Garithos with Varimathras and kept his followers around. The living can rebuild and live in Lordaeron city while the Forsaken rule from the shadows with the Undercity being the seat of true power. They could foster a culture among the living that being raised into eternal unlife is a reward for good service and loyalty. This would serve as a means to bolster the Forsaken ranks and and help them influence the politics of human nations such as Stormwind and Theramore(while it was relevant).
Could have had them as a more pallid version of humans for the living denizens and keep the Forsaken model for the undead. Make them a neutral faction leaning towards Horde while the Night Elves could be a neutral faction leaning towards Alliance.
If Jaina was the leader of the forsaken I believe they would have been a true neutral faction, not playable. Probably would have been a major questing hub for SM and the plague lands. The faction balance would have lead to another race being given to the horde, pbly ogres.
Iv been playing since 2006, how come i never heard or watched anything about this????????????? 😱
Probably because is not true. Is a rumor started by a small youtuber that simple comes from his imagination. There was a rumor during Cata and right at the start of MoP that Jaina was gonna turn evil, that she was gonna be revealed to be a dreadlord in desguise, but it was just that, a player staretd rumor. I think this is the source of this new rumor.
This is actually from the OG Warcraft 3 voice lines. This was cut pretty early, and didn't make it into the final product. But the voice lines of Jainas dying and being resurrected are available online and I even showed them in the video.
I'm glad they didn't go for that
I'm sad that Jaina has never gotten a happy moment now that I think about it and her love life is a disaster:
Kael'thas was creepy towards her
Arthas became an evil maniac
Kalec doesn't give her any importance and the plot point was dropped
Rhonin (and most people in Theramore) got killed by Garrosh
Thrall was never for her and they are friends at most
She never had kids or anything. At most she protects Anduin as if she was an aunt and she has his Undead brother, and her mother. Poor Jaina.
She could have got with me but instead she went with the bad boys like Arthas
it is funny. this is the only way the war 3 story could have been worse. and the bit which is funnier is that it also fixes the worst part of war3. the culling of stratholm's awkward jaina lines wouldn't have been as awkward if jaina was a major character. she was just a footman number2 with a name. but if they had given her a full plot arc and expanded the missions in the human campaign it narratively could have worked.
as for garithos being a bad guy. garithos was a pretty strong character. also having a new and old alliance as well as a new and old horde, would have been narratively interesting. it would have rhymed with the way the factions worked in war2, and while inferior it would still be interesting.
garithos could have done some pretty ham acting in wow and could have been an interesting faction head. "quiet [race]. we must retake lorderon"
jaina vs arthas as undead confrontation would have been a great scene. but if the only difference was swapping the characters, not as good.
the water elemental being turned into a undead slime with bones disolving into it would be neat.
and if instead of dark ranger posession if she also had a ... war within, wherein both she and arthas had shadows of mind as an enemy faction which was old god based, it could have been pretty narratively compelling. she could look for absolution and salvation and acceptance; while he looks for domination, destruction, and subjugation.
she accepts the vices of the souls which cause them to linger and seethe in resentment. meanwhile he lashes out harming others to try to maintain control over himself.
she would be still like a dao within the swirling chaos. and he would be spiraling into revenge and desperation. she would be plagued with doubts, and he would be stricken with conviction.
an interesting option for faction design would be to have the buildings of the shadow faction always take damage, and require maintenance.
a good story beat, just it would need a lot more support scaffolding. it would need a new faction of shadows, sorta like the emerald nightmare faction.
Jaina dying in WC3 would be for the better not worse, because she lived the Human Campaign got shafted and we got Admiral Proudmoore as killable enemy in Bonus Campaign, same as Garithos.
can you imagine a world without sylvanas? 😀🌈⛰🏕🌄😄
Would Jaina have burned down Teldrassil?
@@EbonhardtTV Probably. I remember back in 2017 after the announcement she was one of the theories people had. It made no sense but people loved that "Jaina is a dreadlord" idea made meme.
We would still have the homie vol'jin as warcheif
Forsaken should have been their own faction, pulling in recruits from all the races of azeroth. I'm thinking Forsaken tauren, forsaken gnomes, forsaken elves, trolls, etc. One of the biggest misses in WoW's lore is that we started with 2 factions that have been converging into a single "good guys" faction ever since... I like to think that more factions would arise over time, not fewer.
Imagine if, when TBC launched, the Illidari were a playable faction, whose capitol was the Black Temple, when WOTLK launched, the Scourge were a faction with ICC as their capitol city, when Cata launched, the Twilight Hammer were a playable faction, and it could be any race, with their capitol in Grim Batol. It's crazy to think of all the lore threads that would interconnect with the 2 "base" factions, like RFC being inside Orgrimmar, and being a twilight hammer-themed dungeon.
That's exactly why Warcraft 3 blew Warcraft 1 and 2 fans minds back in 2002. We saw the whole marketing scheme where there were 4 different box arts. One with a human (Arthas), an orc (Thrall), a night elf and an undead (Kel'thuzad) and with that we knew we were in for something special. Orcs & Humans in Warcraft, Alliance and Horde in Warcraft 2, but then suddenly orcs, humans, night elves and undead in Warcraft 3 which in that game were 4 separate factions and 4 separate armies. It was friggin badass and people hoped before WoW came out that we'd see more fanning out and expansion of races and armies. Then suddenly WoW REGRESSED into just Horde and Alliance. Just so MMO'ers could have PvP. Guild faction based PvP would have been more interesting and having an undead faction (never thought the Lich King should be a killable boss by the way...) would have been way better.
It's actually one of the story beats and plans they had initially. But they scrapped it years in advance. I think they realized they couldn't code it all in time and drastically shortened scope to make WoW possible.
@@EbonhardtTV Yeah it is big true that they were probably cutting things from RoC and TFT for the sake of getting WoW on schedule. This is why I love the Timeways. A lot of people say that time travel means a franchise is played out or is a bad thing or whatever. I think that's really unimaginative. If alternates worlds and timelines are used in moderation and executed properly I think they can ADD to a franchise and Warcraft has had the Timeways since pretty much Day of Dragon/Warcraft 3. I always wonder how much better WoD could have been if they didn't abandon a shitload of concepts they originally showed at Blizzcon 2013. So I like to think of the movie as another Timeway for example. With all this jabbering I just did I come to the idea of alternate campaigns. Could work well in an RTS or WoW as quest campaigns, they could use self contained alternate timelines to test the idea of campaigns that exist in both a theoretical WC4 and WoW and give both camps what they want. Sadly, as we know, they've long since nuked their RTS team because while it's not DEAD it's not a high priority genre these days. Oh well. I love your vids so far man, keep up the good work, been binging them.
Wouldn't be possible, considering even now with TWO factions we have TONS of complaints. Scourge would've lacked Paladins & Priests (thus imagine Scourge players complaining & crying on the forums that their faction is weaker in Raid Content or something). Illidari logically are just 2 classes, Rogues & Warlocks, maybe Warriors too (OG Demon Hunter concepts were just "upgraded" Night Elf warriors).
Actually, in SOME way we have seen what happens when we give players more factions (Shadowlands Covenants). Now imagine covenant system, but HEAVILY restricted (i.e. some classes/races were ineligible to join, you couldn't go back to your old capital, possible separate Auctions, separate pools of players & instead of like 3-4 one-sided servers - we would've had more). Imagine trying to go across EK or Kali as a Scourge, with enemies all around. To accommodate something like this - you'd have to rebuild WoW from the ground up.
I'm sorry, but anybody who _wants_ to play as Sylvanas or Garrosh's babykiller horde should get flagged by the American spies.
