    Can't believe all the haters on this video. It says No Prep in the title. The NHRA has a channel, go watch those if you want to see a prepped track and a tree. It's like the PETA people that go watch hunting videos and leave a bunch of negative comments on it. 😒

    I live about 25 miles from this track, have spent many a day from 10:00 am to midnight there in years past. Been lucky enough to see Top Fuel cars go in the 5's over a full quarter, Funny Cars, jet cars, etc.., in past years there. Haven't been there since they went to 1/8 mile, and this video shows it all.. The track is just a lost shadow of what it used to be.. :(

    • @entropy156
      @entropy156 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      You get that this was a No Prep event and that *all* no prep is 1/8 mile, right...?

    • @HillbillyonaYZ
      @HillbillyonaYZ 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      They went 1/8 mile loooong before the "no prep" thing started. Don't know really anything about the "no prep" idea other than seeing it referred to with late night street racing. What's the deal with it at a track? A way for the owners to get people paying $$ without having to even bother sweeping the leaves off the track?

    • @entropy156
      @entropy156 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      HillbillyonaYZ No....it's a way to run what is essentially a street race but make it legal. It's called "no prep" because that's what it is....there's no track prep done. Just like on the streets. They run 1/8 mile in no prep races because we're talking about cars that are doing between 170 and 200 mph in the 1/8th and cars tend to get loose on the big end, because no track prep. 1/4 mile no prep would be suicidal.

    • @bigdiesel891
      @bigdiesel891 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      they do a burnout to heat the tires. It literally begins to melt or burn them (thus the smoke) to make them sticky and gain traction for the actual race launch.

    why do they spin their tires before any race?

    • @Romans--bo7br
      @Romans--bo7br 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      To build heat into the slicks (rear tires) for maximum (as possible) adhesion to the track surface.... it's called a "burnout".
      Mistakingly... many uninitiated bracket racers will do the same thing with their street tires... but, it has the opposite effect... because the tires are Not compounded for that, and will generally create Less traction, rather than making them stickier for added traction.
      I hope this helps to answer your question.

    • @MyLonewolf25
      @MyLonewolf25 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      2Stroke Diesel Power actually street tires CAN benefit from a burnout
      You just don't want to overheat and glaze them which is much easier to do

    • @Kemozabe
      @Kemozabe 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      prepping the track with some kind os sticky formula so the cars have grip, they lay it down the whole track and set it on fire, its kind of like the formula they put by the tires when they do burnouts!!

    The way they stage and launch the cars is ignorant. Why not a staging light and start light.
    They are essentially doing that but with one guy who has to stage the cars then run backwards and launch the cars. Stupid.

    • @nocoolname32
      @nocoolname32 8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      he doesn't get it

    • @dennysphone3012
      @dennysphone3012 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      nocoolname32 I don't get what? some guy points to a line then runs backwards and turns on a light to launch the cars. I have been going to drag races for 45+ years. I street raced my 70 chevelle many many times. I am absolutely positive you could not teach me anything about drag racing I don't all ready or have known for many years. But they are not on a street. They are on a drag strip. So your argument of street racing on a drag strip does not make any sense. Lets take street racing to a drag strip and only use the track but not the lights to simulate street racing. How does not using the lights make it street racing? The guy launching the cars is using a LIGHT. When I raced my chevelle on the street most of the time we raced from a stop LIGHT and we both used that big white line painted on the street that tells you where to stop/start. And no prep means no track prep.

    • @nocoolname32

    • @NFGBigBlock548
      @NFGBigBlock548 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's basically the same thing they do on the street but in the safety of a dragstrip

    • @stylepoints.180
      @stylepoints.180 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      FlyBoySlim .....if youve been to drags for 45+ years and "street" raced your chevelle youd know that in a street race they dont have lights and a staging block....its all done by one person on the street, these racers at the track are made to be street legal racing at a track...

    I don't know why they call this 'no prep'. they are still dumping VHT down for the burn out. no prep means a bare asphalt or concrete road and just a burn out to heat the tires up.

    why risk a 150k ride to go out there and run a no prep race, your risking everything, spinning and getting out of sorts and getting into the wall on the big end, pedaling is very hard on a motor, and the tracks are shit holes that prob dont have trained track officials to assist in a wreak much less know what to do in the event of a fire. I'm not some person that doesn't know anything, were at the track and bring some of the nicest rides there. We run at well preped tracks and have done street racing and ill tell you a unprepped street has better traction then a greasy ass no prep track. if your gonna race no prep your better of with a 4k lbs car with a turd motor, least you wont be peddling. but hey its your car do what you want, I just dont understand it.

    • @shockwave68
      @shockwave68 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because the mixture they put under the tires melts the rubber from their tires onto the track, giving them some "self prep". That helps them actually get out of the hole. Thats why you see all the cars get loose mid track, since theres no more rubber on the track from the burnouts.
